Chapter 1

They both walk into a garden arm in arm, as Kayla keeps waving at everyone pulling him along. She had convinced me to show up early she was going to come along with her brother who had just moved into the city. He's obviously the tallest in the garden.

I watch him and Kayla walk. He's simply dressed but obviously expensive clothing. I recognize him from Kayla's numerous posts on her Whatsapp status. He is the her brother, I really thought she was going to also show up with her husband.

"Hey you" Kayla says cheerfully, untangling her hands from his to hug a friend. They continued walking into the garden. She has linked her arms back to his.

I see Sophie smiling walking up to them or should I waddling up to them with Jason supporting her lower back, he is her husband. She had the cheekiest smile on her face, she looks beautiful with her eyes glittering.

"Who's gonna be the hottest aunt in the world?" Sophie asks with her arms spread wide.

"Me of course" Kayla replies in an embrace.

"Thanks for coming before my speech, I really need you and Jodie here, I kept crying as I was unwrapping the gifts, you needed to have seen me. Jonas didn't even know what to do anymore" Sophie said and smiled at Kayla and at him.

"It's the hormones" Kayla said as she gripped her hands.

"This is my brother Zay, I had to go pick him up from the clinic. I actually convinced him to come".

Kayla smile had not left her face as she spread her arms wider at him, He went into her embrace unsure but carefully avoiding the baby bump, her grip seems firm for her fragile look. I caught her husbands eyes looking apologetic at the man.

"Hey Zay, I've heard a lot about you" Sophie says and winks at him. I roll my eyes.

"You can call me Zayne" he says his voice thick, and smile lightly at her and handed her the small gift bag he was holding.

"Nah Zay is just fine and thank you for the gift." Sophie said as she handed the bag to her husband.

"This is my husband and baby daddy Jonas" the men both shook hands very quickly and Jonas excuses himself.

"I'm going to have to steal her for a while Zay. Feel free to mingle my sister is somewhere here" she says looking around. I know she wouldn't see me. She winks at him again.

Ugh.... Why's she acting so weird I groaned silently

He gives her a small smile and nods. Kayla pats his arm as Sophie waddles with Kayla now supporting her back. I watch as he grabs a drink from a nearby tray and sips, takes out his phone and flips through it. I check to see Kayla and Sophie have left.

I see a few ladies staring at him but not approach. I sigh as I walk to him "You look bored, are you bored?" I say as he turned to my direction from where my voice came to see and a familiar deep green eyes staring at me. He looks just like Kayla but in masculine form. He was almost beautiful. His eyes light up with recognition but he just looks like searching my face.

"You're staring" I say with a light chuckle and turned to look at the crowd sipping my drink, suddenly shy under his gaze.

 "You Sophie's sister!" he exclaimed.

I raise my head back to laugh out softly. "You bet" I say not understanding if it was a question or compliment. He was about to reply when his phone beeped loudly twice to be precise. "You better take that" I say pointing to the direction from where the sound came with my drink and without waiting I walk towards Sophie and Kayla.

Sophie was about to start her speech with her husband. I see her scanning the crowd for me. I walk up to them. Kayla hugs me as we had not seen each other.

"To Jodie my twin sister and my best friend Kayla who made this shower possible" she gestured to us to join her in the spotlight.

I felt his piercing gaze on my back, watching me as I walked towards Sophie with Kayla. I was used to being stared at but this man's gaze was unmatched, he had stared into my eyes like he wants to see my soul. I had laughed to hide my nervousness.

I walked up to Sophie where she sat with Jonas by her side. He was supportive all the while Sophie was unwrapping the gifts and crying uncontrollably.

"How are you holding up there?" I asked as I stooped low to rub her baby bump.

"Not bad, I am exhausted" she replies forcing a smile at the guests. I seem to forget how looking at her is like looking myself in the mirror, she's just got fatter.

"Where were you? Kayla came with her brother. You remember she said she was coming with him"

"Yeah, I actually saw them walk in I was just few steps behind getting a drink" I say nonchalantly.

"He's really good looking you know" she says tilting her head.

I roll my eyes as she laughs out. "I didn't notice" I lied.

She squints her eyes at me "I need to pee. Jonas a little help here please?" We both helped her stand. Just then my phone rang. It was Kelvin, my assistant. This has to be important.

"I've got to take this, it's work. I will meet up with you guys" I said and walked away before any could say anything.

 "What's up Melvin? What's important?"

"I know you said only important messages, but guess who wants facials and a makeup session?" Melvin continued without letting me speak.

"Jhené Aiko wants to book a facial and makeup session and requested to speak to you directly" Melvin shrieked over the phone.

"Oh My God! Is she on? Put her on" I said trying to hide my excitement.

I walked back into the garden after successfully booking a session for 8:00am tomorrow morning with Jhené Aiko at my studio! Another superstar added to my list of top clients. I spotted Kayla and Sophie together, I will tell them when next we have lunch. Tonight is for Sophie and the baby. I walked to the opposite direction, the drink section to grab a mojito. I scanned the faces in the garden but his was no where to be found. I was disappointed, who makes such eye contact and leaves without a goodbye.
