Chapter 17

 "Jodie? I thought it was you hi" I hear a familiar voice I had not heard in months. I turn to see Brian, I had forgotten how good looking and stylish he is.

 "Hi, Brian" I smile not knowing how to react to him.

I just finished a makeup session with a client at her hotel. I was at the reception. It's been about 6 months since I last heard from Brian. Since after our break-up. I didn't really know how to react to him.

 "You look so good Jodie" he continues as his eyes lingers down my body.

 "Thanks, you look good too. What're you doing here?" I ask. He actually does.

 "Came for a business meeting. You? Let me guess. You have a client to attend to here"

I nod and smile at him. Despite the fact that we broke up, I try to maintain a cordial friendships with my exes. "Yeah. Actually"

 "So are you like just coming or done?"

 "I'm done actually and on my way out" I say pointing to the exit door.

 "Jodie, you never returned any of my texts or calls. I tried reaching out to you all these times" he says in a low voice.

I look at the man I had given almost three years of my life and honestly didn't know what to say to him right there.

 "Because there is nothing to say to you Brian" I say suddenly tired.

 "You never wanted to hear me out" he says with his eyes pleading. 

 "And you suppose that will change anything?"

He tries to grab my hand I pull back staring hard at him. I swear I heard him flinch "I told you Jodie, it was nothing. It was just a fling I swear to you"

 "Okay Brian. I hear you" I say trying to end the conversation. Asides the fact that I was already exhausted of having the conversation, this place is totally the wrong place to have it. "I really have to go now Brian"

 "I'll call you Jo" he says

 "Whatever for Brian?" I ask rolling my eyes at him.

 "To catch up" he says "Just as friends" he quickly adds.

 "Alright Brian" I say as I walk away with my mini boxes of makeup.

I smile as I hear my phone ring. I knew it was Zayne, no one calls me by this time of the night. I look at the screen it was a FaceTime. I wasn't in the position for a FaceTime. I was in the bathroom doing my nightly skin care routine. I look my face in the mirror, I'm applying a mask on my face, my hair wet and tied up in a towel. He didn't call me all this while I got home and when I'm looking like this he calls? I pick and faces the screen downwards.

 "Ehmm..... you're nowhere on the screen, I can't see you"he says

 "That's because you chose the near almost perfect time to call. I'm in the middle of my night skincare routine. " I say as I continue to apply my mask.

 "Common. It's not that bad is it?" He chides

I look at my mask with satisfaction, the mask should seat in for about 20minutes. I pick up my phone to see him looking eagerly at the screen. He lets out a yelp as soon as he sees my face. I laugh out at his reaction.

 "This can't be the first time your seeing a mask on is it?" I ask admits my laughter.

 Nope. But this up close, yes!" He says "where is my beautiful Jodie?"

 "Behind the mask" I say propping the pillows on my bed so I could lie facing upwards.

 "You don't mind if I take a screenshot do you?" He teases me

 "Feel free to. There's no way you can prove it's me" I say and heard a screenshot sound. I groan. "Did you really have to?"

He shrugs "Do you miss me Jodie?" He asks looking serious.

 "I do. A lot" I say.

 "I wish I can drive straight to your apartment. I really want to be besides you"

 "Then come over" I say with my heart skipping.

In about 30 mins time, Zayne knocks on the door. I have taken off the mask and changed into my night dress and let my hair down. His eyes trails over my body as soon as I open the door. I wore the dress specially as my breast in full view. 

 "Aren't you looking like a whole meal there" he says sucking his lower lip into his teeth.

 "Then come eat up" 

I start to kiss him leading him to the bedroom as we both grope each other. I put his hands on my breast and I made to pull off his scrubs but his hands catches mine. He pulls his lips from mine and drops his forehead to mine. He sighs tiredly.

 "I'm sorry Jodie, I'm so tired." He takes my face in his hands "can we just sleep tonight?"

 "Why not?" I say looking at the bed. "It's not the first time we'll be sleeping on the same bed without sex is it?"

He nods "it was different, remember I sleep better with you by my side"

I didn't realize the lines narrowing by his eyes. I blush quickly at my desire that I hadn't noticed "it's fine. I should have known you'll be tired" I take his hand and lead him to the bed and raises the covers for him. He kicks off shoes. He did not take off his scrubs as lays on the bed. I tuck in myself in beside him pulling the covers . He pulls me close wrapping his arms around my waist and sliding his fingers through mine as he cuddles me. "See? Piece of cake" I whisper

He scoffs "just wait until clothes are off our backs" he breathed into the back of my neck.

I smile with my body growing warm at his comment "good night Zayne"

 "Good night Jo"
