Chapter 9

A week had passed since David and Primrose had returned from their one week vacation on the West Coast!

They had a blast... and for both of them, it was time well spent together!

Because they had gotten to know each other much more and realized they had enjoyed each other's company more than they had originally thought they would, especially Primrose!

Fascinatingly and probably, very thoughtprovokingly, Primrose had gotten a touch - a glimpse of what she would be experiencing in their matrimonial bedroom after their marriage as David had earnestly promised her that he would!

However, David had called her early the day after to inform her, he would be off the island for a little while... that he would be going to the state to work and do some shopping!

And in addition to that; she should also expect Fredrick to deliver a package to her within a day or two after he was gone!

Once David had mentioned the word

'package'!

Primrose had an instant inclination of what the package contained; but if it was for something specific she was clueless!

However, excitingly, Primrose asked him; what was in the package and if there was anything special that he wanted her to do with it!

But, David casually stated to her; that he was sending her money to go shopping... to go shopping for her wedding dress!

Because as soon as he returned from his trip abroad, he would like for them to set a date so they could finally tie the knot together!

Hearing the news, Primrose couldn't help herself; but to burst out into tears and wild screams of joy!

Screams that were deafening to David's ears and everyone else in the household!

She just wasn't expecting for him to make the decision so soon... so soon after the engagement!

She thought, they would have waited for at least a year, before they walked down the aisle!

However, David wanted more of her! And he had no intention of waiting too much longer!

Or, of bedding her unless they had walked down the aisle and had tied the knot!

He had expressed such to her more than once and he had also proven to her on the West Coast that he would not penetrate her unless they were married!

David was ready to make that move now... he was ready for that plunge together with her be his side... the woman he loved and treated like a princess!

It was the following day before Fredrick showed up at Primrose's gate, driving David's car!

Moments after tooting his horn; Primrose realized that it was him and went by the gate to greet him!

And just as David had promised, he handed her the package and told her what David had said; to give her the package for him!

Thanking Fredrick for delivering the package to her promptly and without any excuses, Primrose told him good-bye and returned inside the house to see what amount of money David had sent with his friend for her!

This package sure seemed much heavier than both packages combine that David had given her before this one! Which, he had only given to her two months prior to this!

Upon opening the package Primrose was surprised to see the vast amount of cash David had sent for her to go shopping with!

It was more than enough!

This was the amount of money that only royals or the very wealthy would spend on occasions like this... for a dress they were going to wear only one day!

In Primrose's eyes; it was ludicrous - it was absolutely ridiculous!

Nevertheless, she got down to business! She began counting the very large pile of notes laid out in front of her like ripe mangos!

And when Primrose had done counting the pile of cash in front of her; it was five hundred and fifty thousand dollars in front of her!

A little over half million dollars!

She was over happy, to have this amount of funds in her hands... in her possession!

But at the same time, she also thought, David was crazy to have given her this vast amount of money just for a wedding dress!

"After, I'm not related to the Queen of England!"

She thought and mumbled under her breast.

However, Primrose had a bank account, and she knew that the bank wouldn't reject her with this heavy sum of cash!

No way they wouldn't!!!

So the following morning half of the cash Primrose tied up in an old cloth bag and brought it to the bank, to be deposited into her account!

And the rest, she kept in a hiding place inside her bed-room... that she thought; not even the wisest of crooks could find it!

Waiting, for when the time came for purchasing her dress, she would have the funds needed to buy the one that she chose to walk down the aisle wearing!

Returning from the bank in the mid-day sun, Primrose decided to visit two of the bridal shops in the mall to see what they had and if she was on track with her estimation of prices where bridal gowns were concern!

While on the bus heading to the bank, Primrose had seen the windows show casing various wedding gowns and had decided to pay them a visit on her way back from the bank!

Upon entering the shop, Primrose was greeted by the sales clerk who took her to see all the various dresses in style that the store had in stock while she quoted the various prices to her!

And for each dress the sale clerk showed Primrose, she also mentioned about the various accessories she had in the store to go with that particular dress! Along with, the extra price she would have to pay for them!

After the walk through, throughout the first shop, Primrose thanked the sales clerk and decided to visit two other bridal shops before heading home!

She wanted to see what they had on their bridal angers; before making a final decision on the dress she intended on wearing down the aisle beside her hubby!

The other two bridal shops Primrose had visited were completely different from the one she had previously entered into!

They were offering their clients more of a complete package deal... hair, make-up, manicures, pedicure and accessories - It was all a part of the package!

They even had vehicles to bring their clients from the store to wherever the venue was being held!

This all inclusive deal was all new to Primrose, and she really needed to take some time and decide on what she really wanted to do!

The two last stores sounded much better to her than the first one - they definitely had a better deal!

And deals that would make everything nice and simple for her to handle!

In alignment with what David had told her...

"She only needed to look pretty, got herself dress and show up for their wedding!"

Everything else, he, his friends and family would take care of on that day of their wedding!

Without any questions, these last two bridal stores she visited were offering that!

Mind not yet fully made up, Primrose took the store's business card; after she had tried on what seemed to be a hundred dresses, along with a host of accessories! And she promised them that she would give them a call, once she had made her final decision!

On the bus on her way home, Primrose thought about the dresses that had fitted her perfectly... the ones that didn't need any alteration; because they were too tight or too loose!

Those were the ones she had now set her mind on and intended on spending her money on!

But she wanted to run it by her roommate first before sealing any deals!

She had least knew, not to get David involve in this part of the preparation! Not that he wasn't stylish enough for her; but since, it was stated that the groom seeing his bride to be in her dress before their wedding day usually resulted in them having bad-luck!

Intuitively and instinctively, Primrose had just began realizing; that was the reason why David had given her so much money!

Not only for her dress; but also for those who would be assisting her!

Or, if she wanted to have bridesmaid and a maid of honor!

It was absolutely an eye opening moment for her! Primrose now had some serious planning to do!

Now she began thinking, who would best be her bridesmaid and maid of honor?

Primrose thought about her girlfriend Jasmine; since, she was the person who had introduced her to David!

And her other decision would be her room-mate, Karen, who she had known for quite some while now... and anyone of her daughters could be her flower-girl and her son, their ring bearer!

But, Primrose decided not to say anything right away to anyone! Because she needed to sleep on it some more, before asking anyone to partake in her matrimonial celebration!

She was too anxious right now to say anything to anyone... she was utterly overwhelmed, with all she had gone through at the bridal store today and all the information and suggestions they had down loaded in her!

And now she had just come into a new insight; that all the money that David had given her wasn't only for her dress; but also for whomever she was going to use in their wedding on their wedding day!

Mind in everlasting wedding land; her bus stop was almost missed! "One stop, driver!"

"Driver; one stop, please!"

Were the anxious cries for Primrose's voice!

Now that the bus has let her off at her stop; Primrose walked back to her house not noticing anything around her!

If an elephant was painted in red, right in front of her, she wouldn't have seen it!

Her mind was too engulfed with thoughts of her upcoming big day and all that needed to be done on her part to make the day satisfying!

And as soon as she entered through the door, she headed straight to her room and sprawled out on her little bed; like a bear-skin rug!

Mind racing and filled with thoughts like a compact disc; she was only obsessed with what she was going to look like on her big day of tying the knot!

Overloaded with wonderings; Primrose fell fast asleep, not awakening, until it was almost time for her to get ready for work!

Arriving at work a bit earlier than usual, Primrose ran into Jasmine, who had introduced her to David!

And after mentioning the usual evening greetings, Primrose brought it to Jasmine attention that David had asked her to marry him! And how, she would love for her to be her maid of honor!

With smiles from ear to ear, Jasmine frivolously stated...

"I was wondering, when you were going to ask me! David had already told me he had put a ring on your finger and you were about to set the date soon!"

"Oh, I see, he has run that info by you already!"

Primrose responded shockingly.

"Of course he did... he would be selfish not to tell me!"

Jasmine replied.

"He told me more than once that he adores you, wanted you to be his wife and let you have his babies! I don't think you are going to find another man that loves you the way David loves you, I can tell you that!"

Jasmine continued.

"Well, are you going to be my maid of honor?"

Primrose reiterated.

"Anything you want me to be I'll be it, Primrose! I consider you my friend and David is my good friend also; so I don't see why not!"

Jasmine responded.

"Well, I need to speak with one more person... my roommate; before we can set a date for looking at dresses at the bridal stores in the plaza!

So whenever David returns from Miami, everything will be set in place!" Primrose expresses.

"How many bridesmaid do you intend on having in your wedding?" Jasmine inquired.

"Well, so far, I'm only thinking of having one bridesmaid, a flower girl and probable a ring bearer!"

Primrose responded.

"I already went looking at wedding dresses today and there were two stores offering a package deal including transportation!

They would do our hair, make-up, manicure and pedicure; if we want those to be done! And then we would be driven to the church and then to the reception venue!"

Primrose continued to explain.

"I believe that sound like a good deal... instead of us going one place for hair, another place for make and then go some other place to have dresses fitted!

I think that is good - having everything done under one umbrella and then be taken straight to the church or wherever the blessings are going to take place!

Well, I'll be off from work Tuesday, so you can count me in for Tuesday!" Jasmine expressed excitedly.

The friends now said their good byes and planned on meeting at the bridal store the following Tuesday before mid-day so they could assess what dresses they should be attiring for the grand occasion!

Now, one issued was solved and Primrose only had another task to overcome; and that was asking her roommate to be her bridesmaid.

Since they had known each other a little less than six years, she thought Karen wouldn't object to being in her wedding either!

So Primrose thought, she would make such enquiry from her roommate the following day; after she had returned home from work and had gotten some rest!

And right through the night; Primrose envisioned what her wedding day would be like!

Would she choose the right dress and the right accessories that went along with it?

Would the persons - the guests there, be pleased with how she looked?

After all, she wasn't aware of the persons that David had intended on inviting to the wedding!

Or, if they were going to be, the destructive critical type who would make her feel mortified at her own wedding!

Or, they were going to be the type that loved her no matter what; because David loved her!

Primrose knew David had given her enough money for her and her bridesmaid to have the best, and look their best for the wedding splash!

It was no monkey money or chicken money that David had given her!

With that message on the table; there was no way, she could show-up at her own wedding looking like a Brazilian Janku-nu under stress!

She needed to look her best and her bridesmaid and maid of honor needed to be looking just the same as well!

They needed to be docked out - attired in the best of apparels from head to toe when they showed at that wedding venue!

And there was no joke about that either!

Because David had display to her more than once that he was a man of high standard when it comes to the things of life!

Since, from the onset of their relationship, he had shown her that he was all about quality and the finer things in life!

And just in case she should ever forget about David standards, the very large rock on her finger was quite a reminder of that! Along with recalling the night of her birthday when he and his friends had d閏or apart of a hotel restaurant just for her!

Returning from work that night; Primrose went to bed thinking about David and their upcoming wedding gala! And also approaching her room-mate and longtime friend, of being in her wedding!

It was just after showering and having breakfast the following morning that Primrose called her roommate in her room and requested for her to take part in her big day!

Surprisingly, Karen accepted her longtime friend's request of being in her wedding without any hesitation and the possibility of one of her children also taking part, in the big and significant celebration!

She was extremely excited and overjoyed about the fabulous news just reaching her hearing!

Karen was screaming and prancing up and down to know that her friend was going to be tying the knot soon! And to David, who she had met already and had speculated that he was a great catch!

Learning that they were going shopping Tuesday afternoon of the following week, Karen became even more elated! And learning where they were going shopping, she almost past out on Primrose bedroom floor! She just couldn't contain her excitement!

Now Karen was asking Primrose; if she was marrying a millionaire; because she knew only the well-to-dos' go shopping at those bridal stores in the malls, located up-town!

Because she knew, any ordinary person would have had their dress-maker accompany them to a fabric store to purchase the material needed to make the dress; and then, they would have given the dressmaker the design of what they would like the finish product to look like!

But, to shop at Bridal World and Bridal & Things were only for people with money!

For sure, she knew no paupers shop in those stores!

So without Primrose saying another word, Karen had now concluded that her girlfriend was marrying someone who was smart and whose blood-line had some influence and statue in and around town! In addition to that, she was also feeling relatively proud that she had not only found a very handsome man; but a man who was on the well-to-do side of life - a man who was also financially stable and could take good care of her!

Nevertheless, most of the Primrose's bridal concerns were coming under an organized status gradually!

Primrose now knew; that whenever David had returned from abroad, she would only have good news downloading in him, pertaining to their wedding plans!

Rightfully so, as the rest of the week went on as usual for Primrose, her mind was totally absorb - totally preoccupied with the thoughts of her wedding day; and the life, she and the man, who up to now had shown her nothing but pure love; was going be like!

"Would he change to a grumpier

version?"

Were the thoughts that had lingered many a times!

But being the man that he had portrayed himself to be so far; Primrose had a gut feeling that David would fulfill all that he had promised to lay at her feet... the house, the children, the trips abroad, the car and the money!

In hind sight, he was giving her some of his money already... and from I sit, that was a whole lot of it... which many hadn't made in a year, neither a lifetime!

Without any doubt, she would have it all, once she had become fully committed to him!

Needless to say, the following week rolled around quickly!

And early in the week - around mid-day Tuesday; Primrose, Jasmine and Karen met-up at the plaza to visit the bridal stores!

They needed to see about their attire for Primrose's up-coming wedding!

Their first stop was at Bridal World!

And once the three ladies were inside they were all taken aback with all the fabulous designs of wedding dresses they had on hangers displaying around the bridal store!

Blessing and Jasmine were going through outfits after outfits and accessories and accessories while taking pictures of what will look the most fabulous on them on the day of the grand festivities!

While Primrose mostly tried on accessories to conclude which one would look best with her bridal dress!

From the very first day she had visited the bridal store; she had picked out three wedding dresses! Anticipating, that one of them would do the trick! But she needed to try them on in front of her girlfriends, to see which one out of the three dresses they would like best on her!

Some, including the staff of the bridal store; gushed out... "Wow!!!!"

And others excitedly yelled-out...

"O My God!"

"Fabulous!!!!"

When Primrose came out of the fitting room in the third; and final dress!

Now, they all were expressing that this was the dress for her and that any man would be happy to see her walking down the aisle in a dress looking this dazzling, this delightful, this drop-dead beautiful!

Still in the wedding dress; the store clerk had helped her applied all the accessories; she had planned on wearing on her big day!

And for sure, Primrose was certainly looking like a Princess!

Instantly, everyone agreed - the store clerk and her friends; they all admitted that this is the dress for her to walk down the aisle in!

"There is no way you can go wrong in this dress Primrose!"

They further stated.

After prancing around for a while in the long white gown with its beads, flower design laces and crystal stubs, lining the waist and the hems of it; Primrose decided, she would say yes to this dress!

She wanted to feel comfortable in it!

She wanted her mind to own it and for her body to claim it!

She just wanted to become confident in wearing the dress!

And moments later, Primrose requested for one of the store clerks to bring her a requisition form so she could start filling it out for obtaining the dress and make whatever payments on it that were necessary!

Not long after; Primrose was inquiring from her bridesmaid and maid of honor; if they had found what they wanted to wear as yet!

And indeed, they had found what they all thought would look lovely on them and also what they thought would go well with Primrose's wedding dress!

No hesitation had to be applied, because when they had applied their makeup and accessories; Primrose gave her approval and she then complimented them on how beautiful they were looking!

With their fabulous attires, not one fashion police could ever detain them for looking shabby on Primrose big day!

Soon after that, Primrose found herself in the store manager's office writing up invoices on all she was about to purchase for her wedding day!

When the total figures were announced to her by the store manager, it was quite an alarming amount to submit to her all at once, Primrose thought!

However alarming the announcing was, it was not at all surprising to Primrose since she had stated calculating the amount already in her head!

Because she had more than enough to fork out and place in the store manager's hands! With still some spare cash in hand to treat herself and also her girlfriends for lunch when they had departed from the bridal store!

Being satisfied with all the purchases and future appointments at Bridal World; Primrose didn't bother going to the other two bridal stores, as she had previously promised she would!

Nevertheless, Primrose called the two other bridal stores she had signed off as void on her list and told them that she had found what she wanted from another business place, so they shouldn't bother expecting her to come in and view their merchandize!

The courtesy was well received, and the store clerks from both stores, thanked her for calling them, and wished her good-luck on her up-coming wedding day!

Right after leaving Bridal World, the three friends went to have a fine lunch together!

It was at one of the Chines Restaurants in the plaza; at it was at Primrose's expense, which she totally didn't mind paying for!

After all, because of them her wedding problems had become much easier for her to handle, and were eventually solved in the space of no time!

Within few hours later, the ladies had returned home and back to getting ready for their perspective duties!

But, an air of excitement continued to lingering throughout the atmosphere!

It seemed as if, a dust of magic was tossed in the atmosphere to spread a feeling of jubilation in everyone's spirit!

Because everyone knew; that an occasion like this rarely happens in this part of their community... a man who is extraordinarily handsome and obviously wealthy; asking a female like Primrose to marry him!

That was not the norm - that was unheard of!

Since Primrose had originated from a place of very humble beginnings!

Because to her, and many others also, who was coming from a similar place like where she was from; a man like David was only for the extremely pretty and elegant girls - the well-to-do... those who had mansions, those whose parents had saved enough for them to acquire university education, those who lived a soap opera life style, and those in the category of elitism!

But she was no big shot!

And neither was she seared or had she shown any searing characteristics from the callous conditions of her past!

She usually demonstrated jovialness, a happy personality and an ambitious nature!

Not wanting to detach herself from her family; but always wanting to detach herself from the circumstances of the hardship she had endured in her youthful years!

It was indeed a poverty-stricken life style for her and her siblings growing up... and they weren't yet out of the loop as yet, where money was considered either!

So working tiresomely hard, and putting away every red cent of her residual income, had caused her to be given the name, Lady Miser!

But Primrose ultimately wanted to do something much better with her life than her parents had done with theirs!

And meeting a man like David who had loved her and treated her the way he did; had only made her dreams and ambitions so much more speedier, so much more easier and so much more accessible!

He had been a surprise blessing and a gigantic bonus of what she had ever imagined or had expected!

Especially when it came down to finding a man she could claim as her own and build a life with!

Nevertheless, Primrose news of her joyous occasion had continued to plaster throughout her working community and living community as well!

Until, the date of the big eye-popping, spine-tingling, gracious celebration of her wedding initiation; and presentation to the love she could now claim as her own!
