The boring days

Winter is soon approaching. The air is getting so cold that Ren needs to sew a lot of new animal hides that they can use for the snowy weather.

She is getting pretty good with her sewing skills. She can even make a hide cardigan for herself. She always wanted to have one before, but couldn't afford it.

She then made some long coat with hood for Mar. She is so pleased with the result.

Mar couldn't take her along with his hunt as she easily gets cold. She can't play with the water too, as it is freezing.

The boring days, as she calls it now.

She can't do anything but stay inside the hut and sew or cook.

She wants to find a new hobby. Besides than cleaning and cooking, there is nothing else that she can do at the orphanage before than reading books.

She doubts that she can find a book in this world that she is living now. She wonders if they do have papers in here too.

"The air is so cold and there is nothing else that I can do. I wish that there is some kind of paper and pencil in here that I can use to write something. I wanted to write a journal." She thought to herself.

With that in mind. She promise to herself not to forget to ask Mar regarding that later.

Mar is busy helping the boys with the training. They need more men to gather food for the winter season. The boys can help with that now.

When the winter season comes and the pile of snow is thick. They all won't be able to gather food anymore, so all of the villagers men started gathering food before it all happen.

Mar has already gathered a lot of food. They have kept it in the cellar. Some meat is in a pot jar covered with salt, so it won't be spoiled easily and can be kept for a long time. They also have a lot of vegetables with a long life span.

Now Ren is really amazed with how organized Mar is.

Mar went back to their hut. He looks tired. But his face went bright just seeing Ren's face.

Ren runs and hug him.

"You're back. I was so bored when you're out. I wish you could just stay here and be with me."

"Oh my Ren, I'm sorry if I am being so busy. It is just that I need to train those new boys to gather food for the winter as it is needed for the villages. Most female died in the cold winter season as they don't have enough food. We can't really go out if the snow is too thick and most of the wild animals are in hibernation."

"Really? I see. I understand now. I'm sorry if I am being too clingy. I'm just really bored and I am missing you so much."

"It's fine, I missed you too. But I need to finish their training so they can help with their family to gather their own food."

"I am glad we have a lot of food already. It is because you are so good in hunting and gathering vegetables and spices." Ren is smiling and hug Mar.

Mar touch her face gently, "I don't want to starve you to death. I am more worried about you than any other else, you are my mate and my family after all."

She hugs him tighter. Mar feels happy about this and hug Ren too.
