I work part-time at the 'Dean's Diner' as a barista. It's not very far away from where I live, so when I'm done with my classes, I work till 7 p.m. Audrey is pretty much home when I come back. There's also a fantastic co-worker, with whom I'm friends, her name is Rue Patrick. Audrey also works part-time, but at a fashion gallery as an assistant, and she's always home by 5 in the evening. And then comes Evelyn. She doesn't work, at all. Her parents think it's not their 'thing' to work under someone, that's why she's studying psychology to join her father's hospital. Her father is a neurosurgeon.

"Can I have this?" A kid asked, pointing towards the chocolate-sprinkled donut. I took it out, forwarded my hand to give it to him, and said, "It'll be 5 dollars." with a smile on my face. The kid was about 6-7 years old, and he was a-alone?

"I don't have any money." he said, while the air of melancholy surrounded him. My heart shattered into millions of pieces after seeing the sorrow of such a little kid. He was starving, and he wanted a donut. So, what, if he doesn't have money? I don't care. No one deserves to starve for food. I didn't wait for another second to pass as I took the donut, held his hand, and brought him outside the cafe so that no one else could hear us talk. My manager is an asshole. He doesn't even give me a day off so easily, and hell if he knows that I slid a donut to a kid without taking money, he definitely won't wait another second to fire me.

"Here, you wanted this donut, right?" I said giving him the donut. I could see the confusion on his face. "But, I don't hav⎼" Before he could say anything else, I asked him if would do me a favour and not tell anyone about this little trade/secret. And he grinned at me. Seeing the happiness flashing back to his face made my heart melt. And without any more delay, I waved him bye and came back inside.

Rue saw me go out with the boy. I not so secretly put 5$ on behalf of the boy, she saw that too. She asked me why I went out and why I gave the donut first and then took the money from that boy, because she knows I always take money first, register it, and then hand the customers their orders. I didn't say anything because she's a good friend of mine, and I just didn't want to lie to her. And then we got back to work. I bet she's suspicious, but she'll not say or do anything, I know, not until she's here at least.

It's finally 7 in the evening, and I'm pretty tired. I'm probably going to freshen up, eat dinner and go to bed early, tonight. But that's just a thought that I think almost every day while walking back home because I like to read before going to bed and while reading, well, who the hell can keep track of time?! -No one.

*ping* (a notification from- 'Rey')

"I'm going out tonight. There's this work thing that came up, last minute."

-"What? How much time?"

"I don't know, really. Depends on Freya. Have dinner. Don't wait for me."

-"Be safe."

Freya is who she assists, the very famous fashion designer. She's the worst too. I mean who tells their assistant to stay after working hours? Audreya is an innocent and always agreeing in every situation kind of girl, while I'm the complete opposite. I like to work with rules. For instance, if I were Audreya, I would've said already something to Freya and probably be sitting at home by now doing 'Audreya things'. But she never argues, probably that's why Freya asks only her to stay and work for longer hours.

I'm finally home after a whole five minutes of walk. I went straight to my room, changed, grabbed my book, and sat on the couch in the living room. Something's missing. Food!

Just when I went to the kitchen, I smelled- dinner! She already prepared it for me. I'm so grateful to have such an amazing roommate who's also my best friend. She made grilled chicken. I love grilled chicken made by her!!! (P.S.- She made this to bribe me, not to say anything to her when she gets back.)

Now, I'm done with dinner and practically have nothing to do except- reading and it's just 8 p.m. Awesome, I'll read it all tonight.

Now that no one is here that means- I can burst music as loud as I want and just Dance and read! God, it's so hard to suppress all the emotions while reading a book because of course fictional men are so extraordinarily amazing. But for now, I'm free.

Also, *drum rolls* an unpopular option incoming, listening to Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Sabrina Carpenter, or The Neighborhood while reading is LOVE.
