Unexpected Proposal
Everyone presents themselves, except for Gi who is still admitted, and Jimin, who is still taking care of him. Eyes focusing on the screen. Taesan enjoyed his morning coffee, and so did Reese. Meanwhile, So is having his morning granola.
"No trace from both targets since then," says Taeyang. He points to the last signal that they received, which is not too far from the target house.
"San, did you inform the client?"
"I did. He told us to take as much time as needed. As long as he is captured alive," Taesan replies.
"But for that scumbag Pho... it doesn't matter if he's alive or not..." says So "We got a bad blood with him. Big time!" Reese glares at So. He might sound evil and heartless, but only they know how much they wanna him dead. They have his head on bounty for a very long time. But who will expect to meet him when they take a job from their client?
More like killing two birds with one stone.
In this case, the bird got so many lives, they needed a huge rock to kill it!
"Explain our circumstance to the client. And thanked him for being patient," says Reese. Taesan nods.
"Looks like we can't do anything until Gi is discharged from the hospital. What we can do now is to monitor and gather information," Reese concludes the meeting.
"Incoming VC from dad," Taeyang glances at them. Reese sighs heavily.
"Connect the screen," says Reese. Taesan fixes his dress shirt, while Reese quickly puts away her coffee mug. Everyone is ready to welcome Master Kim.
A few seconds later, Master Kim's face is on screen.
"Hello, children! What a great day!"
"Hello, Dad..."
"What's with the gloomy expression? This is a great refreshing morning, isn't it?" Master Kim smiles brightly.
"Hi, dad!"
"Hello, how's my lovely Tae Bear?"
"Great!"
"When will you visit again?"
"Next week, for sure Dad!"
"I hope this time you will bring So. I kinda miss my right man..." So flinches. But, Taeyang softly held his palm.
"Sure, Dad! He will join us this time, right?" Taeyang gazes at So. The younger submits and smiles at Master Kim.
A fake smile.
"Sannie-ya, how's going, son?"
"Ah... I'm fine Dad!" says Taesan.
"Did you find the driver like I asked you?" Master Kim's inquiry makes Taesan nervously laugh.
"Still in the progress. I'll try my best to persuade him," Taesan replies to his father in a good manner.
"You need a good driver. You can't always depend on Gi and Jimin," says Master Kim.
"Imagine, hiring a person who shot him. What a tragic irony!" So whispers. Taesan whacks him with a sharp glance.
"How about you, my only daughter?" Reese slowly lifts her head, watching him on screen.
"You can't keep yourself from talking to your old man, Reese. Besides, you only have one father, right?" says Master Kim.
"What now, dad? Who is it this time?" Reese knew her father too well to know what was on his mind.
"What who?"
"Stop acting innocent, Dad! Just spill it!"
"Okay, looks like I'm getting busted! It's no one actually, just a son of my friend..."
"Not again, Dad!"
"Reese... Listen first..."
"Out... All of you..." With one command, everybody yeet out of the room. No one dares to ask or even object. Now it's only Reese and Master Kim.
"Why did you chase them away? They have the get-to-know too!"
"Cut the chase, Dad! Don't try to use them as your shield!" Reese stares at him with anger. She knew she couldn't hold him in front of her brothers. That old man will play the victim card.
"Why don't you just keep calm and listen?!"
"I told you, don't mess with my private life!" Reese smacks the table. The room got heated within a second like someone just burned it inside out.
"Reese, I did follow your preference. He's young, graduated from Yale, and good-looking as well. He's the second from Lee's Clan, he has nothing to do with his father's mafia business. He got his own business..."
"I told you, I don't want to!"
"What did you want, Reese?! I did follow your preference, what makes it so hard to accept my suggestion?! Your stubborn heart will put us in danger, Reese! Why don't you just listen to me this time?!" Master Kim had enough of Reese. He starting to get pissed off.
"I'll take full responsibility for my family!"
"Oh yeah? Really? Do you think you took the role well? You know what, if you follow my suggestion from the first place, the last week incident will never happen, Reese!"
Reese feels like being hit by a bullet.
"Oh, now I see you blame me!"
"Explain to me which part am I wrong, Reese? If you have some mafia clan who can take care of your family, nothing will happen to Gi! Can't you see that?! I love my children too, just like how much you love them! You think I can stay silent when someone almost killed my son?!" Master Kim straight up his words.
"This time, everything's fine. Who knows what will happen in the future? And who's next? You never think about this, Reese! All you care about is yourself! Did you even realize your vanilla dream will only cause harm to your own family? This happened before! How much proof did you need?!" Reese grits her teeth. He mentioned something so sensitive now.
"Reese, I'm not asking much, but you to be more considerate. I'm your father. Of course, I want nothing but happiness for my daughter. Just do it once, I'm begging you!" Master Kim pleads. Reese stares at him, deep into his eyes.
Her father is old now. And maybe tired as well. She knew how much heloveds his kids, though he might look cold and savage. He has a soft spot for them, even for Gi who is not his biological son. But he loves them equally. Besides, what harm can be done if she follows him for this once? She can just say no in the future.
"Do it for this once, please?"
"Don't coax me with your sweet voice, Dad! You make me cringe!"
"So, are you saying yes?" asks Master Kim. Reese lets out a huge sigh. Later, she nods slowly.
"Great! So, he will pick you up tonight!"
"What?!"
"Good thing can't be put on hold, my daughter! So, 7 pm?" Reese scoffs and pouts.
"I'll take it as yes! Okay, gotta call him! See ya, my daughter!" the call gets cut immediately. Reese can only scream in her heart.
