Memory sometimes can lie to me

Jack POV

The food is almost ready. I hope Megan and Joanna will like what I created here. It might be a simple dish, but I tried to make it as tasty as possible.

After checking now, I could see that meat should be ready in around ten, maybe a little more.

It is hard to judge, especially as I do not want it to go all around.

Knowing it, I smiled and started making a sauce for meat. For this, I could add what came, but it is too fat. So they might not like it.

Good, that I learned from grandma how to make them. It might be from the bag.

She teaches me a lot about what should go into each meat. It might have been years ago, but I have an excellent memory of this. Therefore, I started doing it. All should be good for potatoes too.

Good, that I found it in a shop. Same bag, and company which I used at grandma's house. Maybe it will be a good one.

Memory sometimes can lie to me.

Still, I will need to taste it.

As I kept making it, I could hear the doors opening.

Seeing Joanna coming in, she said, "oh, my little brother. Are you cooking for your lovely sister?"

"Yes," I said as I moved back to the pot. Not long after, Joanna hugged me and said, "What are you making?"

"Oh, meat should be ready soon. The sauce here for it. I don't want to use this fat one," I said while pointing to the oven.

"Salad," she asked.

"Yes. I have it all cut, but I need to make a sauce for it, too," I said, shortly.

"Ok. I will leave you now. Call me when all will be ready. I can't wait to eat the food which you will cook."

"Ok," I said shortly.

After she walked away, I was done with everything, and I said out loud, "All is ready."

"Great. I will go there soon. Don't start eating before I come to you," she said.

Hearing it, I put everything aside and then walked to my room. First, I need to turn my laptop off. As I do not want to work now.

I am a little worried about the electric bills. Joanna might pay them, but I do not want them to be too high.

While doing it, a bell rang. Hearing it, I could hear Joanna's steps.

Then she said, "oh, sister."

"Yes. I come to visit you," Megan's voice came.

"Oh, why?" Joana said. In her voice, I can hear that she is a little worried about something.

I could only listen to them. Before I come out, I just let them talk.

When I closed, all the waiting began.

"Whose shoes are they?" Megan's voices come. She probably pointed at mine. I could only guess.

"Oh mine," Joanna said.

"Forty-six. You have forty. In addition, they are men. Jo, who are you hiding? Men. You should know what mommy will say if she found out," Megan's voice came.

"Nobody," Joanna said.

"You can't cook," Megan said.

"Oh, my lovely oldest sister. Can you go away" Joanna's voice changed? No idea what it can mean, but almost like a begging one.

Hearing it, I wanted to look. What they are doing.

What is Joanna's expression? What will Megan do?

Before I did this, Megan said, "Oh, someone you fell in love with. I should test him. Before he touches you."

"No. Nobody likes that," Joanna said. Hearing it, Megan said, "Jack comes out. I have had enough of this. I can't handle Joanna anymore."

"What," Joanna said. Hearing it, I showed up in the corridor and said, "I will be there soon."

"You don't go anywhere," Joanna said. Hearing her voice, Megan said, "You think you will hide something from me? You can't hide anything."

"Yes. I hide many things. Now tell me what is happening here," Joanna said.

"You think you will hide our brother here? Are you stupid? You should tell everyone when you found him. Mommy will do something to you," Megan said while her finger touched Joanna's forehead.

I could see that she was using some force there as Joanna's face changed. She might feel some pain.

"No. I do not want to lie to everyone. Now, how did you find out about Jack?" Joanna said.

"Oh, you see. This is a long story," Megan said.

"You know about him earlier than I," Joanna said.

"Probably not," I said.

Hearing my words, Joanna started walking toward me.

Seeing it, she hugged me and said, "My little brother tells me how she found out about you."

"Oh, she used knives," I started saying, but then Joanna's voice come "what the fuck? Megan. What have you done? Did you hurt him? If yes, I will never forgive you."

"Oh, nothing," Megan said.

"If mommy hears this, she will kill you," Joanna said.

"So that is why I haven't told them," Megan said.

Hearing it, I said, "Could I finally go to the bathroom? I am holding on so hard. That all are on the edge."

"Go," Joanna said, and then she realised me. Seeing it, I ran to the bathroom.

I could not hear what they talked about, but after I came out, they did not talk at all.

Just looked at each other or me. Their look is so strange. No idea what it can mean.

Seeing it, I walked slowly to put everything on the plates. After I was done with food, I moved it to the table, and then I came with a salad.

When I put it on, I said, "Now we can eat. So talk on the side. Before we ate, only minor questions."

"Are you ok? She hasn't hurt you" Joanna's voice came. She touched my shoulder.

"Don't worry I am ok?" I said. Hearing me, she nodded, and then I said, "You talked about helping Megan."

"Oh yes. I need to ask Sophia about this," Megan said.

"Oh, I talked with her. She doesn't want to help me," Joanna said. I could see that she was worried about something.

"Oh, she will. You know when all will go" Megan asked.

"No idea. Today they tried to tell me to drop this. Not all went as it always goes. Mostly I would agree, but I don't want to now," I said.

"What?" Joanna said while the fork landed on the floor. Seeing it, I grabbed it and then walked for a new one, and I said, "As I was saying. I did not accept it. So do not worry. All is how it should be."

"Good to know," Joanna said.

"Old man. Is like he was," Megan said.

"Oh, so you heard it all? I should do the same," Joanna asked.

"Yes. I just keep calm. Do not worry. Everything will be good," Megan said. Hearing her words, I nodded, and then, in peace, we continued eating.

After everything was done, I smiled and said, "Oh, I will come back to learning. I need to prepare for tomorrow."

"You can stay here. Learning can always come later. We should talk," Joanna said.

"No. You can talk in peace. To know it all, I will go now," I said, and when Joanna and Megan nodded, I said, "Leave it all here. I will clean later."

"Oh, we will do this," Megan said. Hearing her, I nodded, and I said, "Joanna."

"Yes," she said.

"I will clean later in your room. It is so messy that we need to do this. Before I come in, can you clean what you don't want me to see?" I said.

"Ok. I will do this as soon as I can," Joanna said. I could see Megan look at Joanna. Seeing it, I smiled, and then I trudged to my room, and then I started learning.

Time passed, and then I started doing what I said.

Joanna helped me a lot. Still, I could see that a few times under a few dressers. I took some clothes.

Joanna's look at finding them surprised me.

Good, that I had done with this not long after.

As I looked at Joanna, I smiled and used a vacuum cleaner. Thanks to this, all went well.

"You can do it," Joanna's voice came.

"Oh, I will after cleaning the dust," I said, and when she looked at me, she nodded. Seeing it, I smiled, and when I looked at her, she smiled, and then I was done with this.

After ending it all, she said, "So now. We can move on from it."

"Yes. I had done," I said.

When she looked at me, I smiled and walked to have a quick shower.

No idea when she last cleaned the shelves there, but they were so dusty. No idea how she can handle them.

The living room was cleaner than her room.

Knowing it, I shook my head, and when I was done, I came to my room. There I surfed the net for some time, and not long after, I fell asleep.
