Giving Out Jobs

With a quick walk, the four of them make it back to the clinic with no incidents. Allen was assigning jobs to the new recruits all while trying to work on a patient. With the recruits standing around the way in his way it was nearly impossible.

" If your not helping Allen in the clinic come outside with me." Yern said, much to his friends relief. All the recruits came outside with Yern besides the young girl and the mysterious woman. The recruits stood in front of the clinic waiting on Yern.

There were seven boys and three girls including the group Yern had just arrived with. There was Sar, Titan, Tack, and Mack that he knew the names of. " We will make these building around the clinic our headquarters, so find somewhere to stay later today.'' The recruits looked around at the rundown building and didn't seem too excited to move in. " When you get paid you can fix the houses up all you want."

"When do we get paid?" Sar asked, playing with his knife.

"That depends on your jobs and how well you do them. So let's get to assigning them." Yern said, making things up as he went. 'We'll need to guard the clinic since it's our only income. We will need to have both defense and offense so I'll need to pick a few who will deal with enemies outside our turf.' he thought to himself

" You four will guard the clinic in shifts. Two of you for a few hours then switch. It'll be rough for a while since we don't have many people but it pays." Yern said, pointing to a group of two boys and two girls. "We'll have to worry about pay when Allen isn't trying to keep someone's insides on the inside." he joked, lighting the mood some. Everyone was less stiff now, and seemed more natural. "You all can go find a place to settle into, but quickly, we don't know when Marrow might try to hit us." he said, they nodded and went off into the surrounding buildings to find their new home.

"The twins, Sar and Titan will be our offense. They will be paid to be ready whenever we need them plus a bonus if I feel they deserve it. And if our funds are in a good place." he said. Though they already knew this because he'd told them earlier at the Marketplace. He felt it was good to let the other recruit know they could improve their rank if they did something to prove themselves. He told the enforcers to go find their home, besides Titan. He needed someone here just in case.

Yern told the remaining three they would be on standby from anything the gang needed extra hands on. Whether it be going to the Marketplace to get more supplies for the clinic or helping deal with a rival gang member. He thought he could go discuss things with Allen until the woman with a scar on her face started to speak.

" I want to fight. I don't want to be a store runner." the woman snarled, seeming disgusted at the job she was given. Yern had nearly forgotten about her and actually agreed with her, she should be fighting. But he knew he couldn't just let her because she wanted too.

"What's your name?" Yern asked.

"Lilith." she replied.

"Okay, Lilith. I want you to fight Titan with no weapons. If you don't touch the ground you can be an enforcer." Yern offered. Lilith seemed to weigh her odds in her head and finally backed down.

"I will be a store runner for now." she said before walking off to find her house. 'She's unruly but at least she's smart too' Yern thought to himself. He dismissed the rest of the recruits and Titan and headed into the clinic to find Allen.

As he walked into the clinic he saw that the situation had calmed down. The patient from before was laying down on the bed. He wasn't sure if he was asleep or unconscious. The woman clinic employee wasn't doing anything so he went to ask her where to find him. She was just sitting at a desk looking sad like she'd just lost someone.

"Hey, you know where Allen is?" Yern asked the woman who he still hadn't been properly introduced to.

"Yeah he's in the back teaching two of your members about the clinic." she replied, barely at him.

"Thanks" he said as he went towards the back office.

He found Allen with the young girl and mysterious woman and seemed to be showing them the different medicines that were extremely expensive. 'How'd he manage to get those?' Yern thought. as he waited at the door to the office. Allen noticed Yern was waiting and told the two they were free for the rest of the day.

"Wassup, where are the recruits?" Allen asked, as he closed the door to the office.

"I gave them jobs and told them to find somewhere close to stay." Yern said and Allen seemed surprised.

"You know that's my job right?" he laughed.

"I was thinking and I don't want you to be seen as the second in command by the public. We don't need the Peace Enforcers shutting the clinic down because it's connected to a gang." Yern explained and Allen seemed to agree.

"We could make it seem like Tack is second in command." Allen suggested and Yern was good with that.

They said their goodbyes and Yern head up to his room above the clinic to get some much needed rest. Though he knew he would have to wake up again to go deal with the messenger sent from Marrow. Luckily he'd explain the plan in more detail to the enforcers as they walked back to the clinic.

As he lay in bed he thought to himself about how his small group of fourteen would be able to take down Marrow's gang until he realized he didn't even know how many people were in Marrow's gang. Only a few people probably knew. Marrow and his top lieutenants of course. He would need to find that out to understand their current enemy better.

He thought maybe he could go to Jack, a gang leader in their district whose members were guards all around the district. Jack also served as an information broker, willing to see info about anyone to anyone for the right price.
