Traveler's Ark

The man that appeared was obviously Alexander.

Knowing that the Faceless would visit him regardless, Alexander chose to take the initiative rather than wait for his arrival.

During the simulation, he had noticed that the Origin Castle's aura had a suppression effect on the Faceless.

Being careful though, he didn't plan to use that suppression to fight in a straight forward manner, but to ambush him.

Ambushing a Sequence 6 Faceless would normally be impossible for him, but Alexander used the aura of the Origin Diary to hide his traces.

At the same time, he used his first bullet as an intermediary for his "Bribe" ability, establishing an one sided connection with the Faceless.

Through that connection, he was able to sense the enemy's location even after he teleported, successfully injuring him.

Seeing that the Faceless was going to transfer the damage, Alexander used the Distort token to distort the enemy's intent of "transfer the wound to an unimportant part of my body" to "transfer the wound to a vital part of my body".

This indeed caused the Faceless to panic, and forced him to use his teleportation extraordinary item to escape, just like he did in the simulation.

This time though, Alexander was well prepared, as he distorted the intent of "teleporting away" to "teleporting in place", before turning into a shadow and waiting for the teleportation to complete.

In fact, this wouldn't have worked if the enemy realized that he was a Beyonder of the Lawyer pathway, but his previous distortion had lead him to believe that he was a Rose Bishop.

In this whole fight, if the one-sided stomping could even be considered a fight, had been completely dominated by Alexander and there were two reasons for it.

On one hand, the aura of Origin Castle was what allowed him to be the one that initiated the fight.

On the other hand, the disparity of information and mysticism knowledge between him and the Faceless proved to be fatal.

Until the end of the fight, his opponent didn't even realize what Sequence and pathway he was, while Alexander knew every single ability of the Faceless, maybe even more in depth than the Faceless himself.

By now, Alexander was used to seeing corpses and blood, so he started looking for the extraordinary items and the characteristics unobstructed.

Picking up the little golden boat, a silver window appeared in front of him.

[Name: Traveler's Ark]

[Characteristics: Traveler (Sequence 5)]

[Abilities:]

[Traveler's Door: You can open a door to traverse the Spirit World. You can either specify the location or set it to random.]

[Downsides: With each use, there is an increased chance of establishing a connection with a certain secret existence.]

[Sell: 350 FP]

In the extraordinary world, items that allowed one to travel through the Spirit World were especially rare.

The only Beyonders with such abilities were of the Door and the Death pathway.

At the same time, while the downsides sounded terrifying, Alexander guessed that the chance to establish a connection was very small.

The only secret existence that was related to the Door pathway was the King of Angels Mr. Door, but it would be very difficult to establish a connection with him through such a weak extraordinary item.

Of course, that didn't mean that the item had no downsides, as no matter what, you should only use it as a last minute trump card.

Putting it aside, Alexander cleaned up the fight scene, before leaving the house and returning to his home.

Although he killed the Faceless, Alexander wasn't ready to fight against the Sequence 6 Judge, but wanted to try and settle it peacefully.

First of all, he didn't even know if he could successfuly kill a Sequence 6 Beyonder without the suppression of Origin Castle's aura.

Most importantly, Alexander wasn't ready to become the enemy of MI9 if he was planning to stay in the Loen Kingdom.

He didn't want to become just a soldier for the MI9, but at the same time it would be really useful to have MI9's support.

Some hours later, the sound of a bell resounded throughout Alexander's house.

Alexander had been expecting it, and quickly got up and opened the door.

What greeted his eyes was a tall middle aged man, with blonde hair and blue eyes wearing a black suit.

Despite being mentioned multiple times in the simulation, this was the first time that Alexander had met him in reality.

Seeing that Alexander was sizing him up, the middle aged man lightly coughed, attempting to draw his attention.

"Good evening, could I please come in?", the blonde man said and showed a military badge, showcasing his identity.

"Of course, of course.", Alexander agreed and led the man inside the house.

Arriving in the living room, Alexander sat down on a chair and motioned for the blonde man to sit on a sofa opposite to him.

"To what do I owe your visit?", Alexander politely asked and poured some tea for both of them.

The blonde man didn't immediately respond, but proceeded to drink some tea before loudly sighing.

"I know it's kind of out of the blue, but I used to be a friend of your father."

"I was really sad to hear about his death, but I couldn't attend his funeral as I was stationed in the Southern Continent.", the blonde man responded with sadness written all over his face.

Author's notes. [Somewhat relevant to the story]

I've come to realize that I spend a lot of time explaining the thoughts and motivations behind every action the protagonist takes. I personally like it, as it would otherwise make it harder for the readers to follow the plot.

Please let me know if you want me to tone it down with the explanations or you would like me to continue.

The story would feel more fast paced if I didn't, but at the same time the protagonist's actions would feel unjustified.
