Chapter 3: Flame world.

Xander appeared on what looked like an island. There was a massive volcano which was active as he could see red lava spilling out of the top once in a while with smoke constantly coming of the top.

The sky itself was red and there wasn't any greenery there at all, just a vast land of heat.

In front of him was a pathway leading to the volcano. It was ten metres wide with lava flowing from both sides.

[Flame world; a place where the evil red fire dragon resides. Defeating it will get you a lot of rewards, coins, improvium, or even more powerful weapons.

Objective: Reach the end of the pathway. There are nine levels on the pathway and each level is harder than the last, the final level is the dragon itself.]

"Huh? It isn't so hard. I'm guessing that the heat will increase as I move forward or something." Xander predicted.

Actually there wasn't anything special about that. Xander has played a lot of Military games and mediaeval war games but he has never played a fantasy game like this one before.

Unable to predict anything for sure Xander tool the first step forward.

*Ding!*

[Level one triggered - quest began - Defeat all the fire demons]

Immediately he finished reading that message, five lights shot down from the red sky onto the pathway, crashing into it, making it shake for a few seconds.

The lights dimmed to reveal some ugly looking creatures. They were as tall as Xander but their body was very thin and they held a sword in their hands.

They had lizard faces with a long slim body, their hands had claws that looked very sharp and their skin looked hard with their red scales.

[Level 1 Fire demons

Health - 100/100]

[Attack - 70]

"Although I didn't learn swords from a dojo. I still practiced with a sword out of curiosity."

He then grabbed the hilt of the sword from the sheath on his back and removed it, putting in in front of him in a defensive position.

Xander looked at the weapon and noticed that it was very plain. It was only silver and had no special qualities whatsoever.

"At least it is enough for me to fight with." Xander said as he looked at the five creatures looking at him while licking their disgusting lips with their disgusting tongue.

All of them seems to look as if they were waiting for him. Xander looked down and noticed a yellow line in front of him. Guessing that it is the starting line he took a deep breath before he charged past it.

As if the creatures came to life all of them growled loudly as they charged towards Xander.

Xander controlled his emotions, he didn't know the penalty of death in this game so he just had to pass this level safe and sound.

In other games, the normal penalty for death would be that the player would lose one to five levels in their power.

'Let me focus on levelling up for now.' he thought as he used his sword to block an incoming head attack from one of the fire demon.

He used his leg to kick the side of it's stomach making it to stumble to the side.

Xander wasn't able to relax as three more of the fire demons charged towards him with their weapons ready to slash him.

"Hah!"

Xander dodged by an inch and slashed one of them a couple of times chipping away a large portion of its health.

With skill and perception Xander dodged the attacks and counter attack. It didn't take long for multiple of these demons to fall under his sword.

The last demon then fell down and all five of them layed on the floor, some of them had cuts and some had bruises. It looked so real that Xander wanted to puke at the sight.

*Ding!*

[Flame world stage 1 passed. You have received 200 coins and five improvium]

[You have received a magic grade equipment]

[You have levelled up to level 3. +150 health, + 150 mana, +30 physical damage, + 30 magical damage.]

[New skill unlocked - crescent sword wave]

[New talent unlocked - fire slash]

Xander didn't immediately move on to level 2 of this flame world and just checked out his new abilities.

[Crescent sword wave.(skill) - When activated swing your sword towards the target and sharp wave of energy would sweep the area that you slashed at.

Deals 150% of magic damage.

Consumes 30 mana points.

Cool down - 10 seconds]

[Fire slash (Talents)- Activates after five consecutive slashes to an enemy. Deals a total damage of 120% of magical damage]

Well, it seems like he got an active skill and a talent, along with a magic grade equipment. His luck isn't bad at all.

"This game is kind of enjoyable." Xander said with a gentle smile.

The blood pumping moments were so real and Xander wanted to continue this game. He felt so energized and excited.

"I got to give it to Harris, this game is amazing."

Everything felt so real. He couldn't imagine the level of Technology that they used for this system.

He liked how the players could move normally without restriction. Even the skills didn't have a particular way of doing it.

Mind integrators were what were used in th virtual games nowadays. It transfers the consciousness of a person to a virtual space or world.

"Wait a minute. If I can feel in this place then they must have set the immersion and feeling above eighty percent. I never heard of a game with more than sixty percent immersion, league of guardians... might just be my new favourite game."

While it was true that other VR games exist, the concept of a fantasy MMO is actually quite good.

Xander had a wide smile on his face. He wanted to use this game to his advantage. If he can't make headlines in the other gun and war games he'll switch to this league of guardians.

Taking his eyes to an item he got he saw a sword. This one was not as fat as the silver beginners sword and was just the width of two human fingers.

The blade was blue in colour. Multiple Ruinic symbols were inscribed on the blade.

Tapping On the sword a screen came up.

[Blue dragon sword(magic grade)

+ 500 physical damage

+ 300 magical damage]

"Huh, there's no much description about it except for the stats and benefits." He said.

He then equipped it and put that silver sword in his inventory space provided by the system.

*Sigh*

Xander sighed as he stepped further on the pathway and walked downwards, to level 2.

He was sure that level 2 is going to be a lot easier than Level 1 with his magic grade Sword.

There are six ranks of equipments, common, magic, rare, epic, legendary and mythical.

Xander had good luck for getting a magic grade at level one.

With a rare confident smile Xander proceeded further on the pathway to the dragon.
