Chapter 4: Silver Armour

Xander was currently feeling very fatigued.

Currently he has finished level 2 and level 3 on the pathway to the volcano. The demons were all the same with increased level, HP and quantity.

His current level was now level 7. In each level, the amount of improvium given to him was plus five of what was given in the last level.

The improvium was what will be used by players to upgrade their territory, again, which is the village.

The next level after village was town, then city, kingdom, and lastly empire. The difference in the amount of improvium needed to upgrade a territory was astronomical.

"I'll check how much improvium is used to upgrade my village. Hehe... Improvium." He laughed.

The game developers didn't see any other name of a resource and decided to call it... Improvium.

'Even I can name things better.' he thought with a smile.

Xander looked at the system time and saw that it was already... 7:46 pm.

"After level 4 I'll stop for today."

He then walked pass the yellow line, entering level 4 of the pathway. He readied his blue dragon sword, ready to fight off whatever wanted to come his way.

*Creee!!*

"What the...?"

Xander looked up and saw a not so large bird on fire falling down towards him. He jumped to the side and the bird landed on the floor.

"What the hell is that?" Xander said as he looked at the bird that had glowing orange lines on its body. It's eyes had a fierce, golden glow that seemed as if Xander was it's lifelong enemy.

*Ding*

Xander was kind of down as the system didn't give more information about the enemy and only their name, level, HP and mana.

In other games he was able to see the enemy's stats. From the name to the recent enemies that it has killed, but in this game, very little detail was shown.

Xander charged forward with his sword ready to slash at the fire bird when it comes into range.

The bird responded and dived towards him with killing intent in its eyes. The flames on it's body only raged more as if the wind had no effect on it.

Xander furrowed his brows as he steadied his focus. He slid down, dodging the fire bird as it passed him by an inch, the heat grazed his face a little.

He stood up skillfully and swiped his sword in the air towards the flame bird, a sharp two metres tall vertical arc made of blue light flew out of the sword, the light bathed and illuminated the surroundings as it went towards the fire bird.

The bird didn't even have time to dodge as one it's wings were cut off and it crashed to the floor, making a booming sound that echoed all around the abeyed surroundings.

Xander saw that the health of the creature was still remaining a little and ran to it to deal the finishing blow, he readied his sword as he ran waiting for the right moment to attack.

Seeing the creature turning he jumped up and stabbed down on it's neck and with a loud screech the bird's head fell down with a thud and stayed there, dead.

The blood that gushed out of it's torn limbs looked so realistic that Xander thought it was real life for a sec.

"I have to give it to the game creators, they did a really good job with this game." He said with a smile.

This time he got an armour, this one was quite ordinary and was silver. It covered his chest and back region and also covered his private region.

The leg part of the armour only spread to his knees and didn't cover the lower part of his legs, even the arm part was the same. The armour covered down till his elbow and that was it.

Health: +700

Mana: +200. ]

Well, even if it was only a common grade armour it was okay, for a start.

The game was so thrilling that Xander wanted to stay and play all night but his mom will be worried about him.

He decided to check out the other modes of the game tomorrow when he logs in again. He logged out that instant.

...

"Hm."

Xander groaned lightly as he felt the familiar soft leather of his gaming chair caressing his skin. The sweet scent of his familiar room graced his nose.

He took of his helmet and went downstairs to have dinner with his mom.

His mom was rather happy that evening as she got a promotion at her job and they ate dinner with laughter and joy. There was a sad truth that Xander knew though, his father who his mother thought was coming back has actually left them.

When he found out, he was very angry and pitied the woman who was left here with a burden to carry which was him.

That was the time he decided to make money early to take care of his step mom, who he has fully acknowledged as his mother.

Early in the morning on Saturday Xander quickly did all his chores and ate so that he can log into the game again. He planned to go to Harry's house later in the evening so he wants to level up a lot so that he can brag about his knowledge of the game.

He turned on the helmet which emitted the same subtle glow before his consciousness drifted into the fantasy world once more.
