06: Loki Laufeyson

Loki sat peacefully, beckoned by the warm sunlight escaping the windows. He was on a glittering light-brown stool reading an emerald-leathered book. Behind him were wooden shelves holding countless books. All around him were stacks of books piled over the other.

On his right was a grand window with a black outline. It permitted the sunlight to pass and glistened through the room. Behind that window, one could see four children running around with smiles on their faces.

Loki had neck-length midnight hair with emerald green eyes that brought a magnificent contrast to the room. His eyes that glanced at the lines of words were of entrancing beauty.

Suddenly, a voice was heard from behind the young child. "What are you doing here, Loki?" asked Frigga, wearing purple silk.

Loki looked above his book, facing the sunlight coming from another tainted window. "Reading, mother" he responded as she came to his sight.

"Why aren't you playing outside with your brother and our guests?" she asked, kneeling before him to be at his size.

"It's boring," he answered, looking at her in the eyes.

"You don't like them?" her eyes looked at him with a tint of sadness.

"It's not that I don't like them. I just don't enjoy spending time with them." He explained flatly.

"Why is that?" asked Frigga, wanting to help her son.

"We aren't compatible," he responded with a frank nod.

She chuckled. "Do you want me to find you friends?"

"Aren't I supposed to do that?" Loki tilted his head to the right and remarked.

"And where would you even find them?" she asked with amusement in her eyes.

"In the Library." He answered confident.

"Our personal library, which no one except our family has access to?" she chuckled but also looked a bit sad that her son had no interactions with others.

"…But you are my mother, isn't that weird that you are the one finding me friends?" Loki looked a bit embarrassed at that.

"Exactly, I am your mother. It is my responsibility that you are enjoying your early years." She hugged him with love.

A small silence weighted in the room.

"Are you sure you don't want to spend time with your brother and our guests, you won't be able to do that later on as your studies begin?" she asked once again wanting for him to enjoy his life.

"Yes, I much prefer reading, but thanks." He felt a bit guilty about his mother's worries—just a bit.

"What are you reading?" she looked at the book in his hands.

"Magic the Art of Wonders" he read out loud before showing her the cover where the title stood.

"Oh, I read that book. It's really good, I especially like how mystery-filled the Author wrote that book." She said trying to engage in the conversation.

"Yes, that is the description of magic that I like." Said Loki happy that someone shared his view on magic.

"So, you prefer the fantastic to the scientific."

"Those who prefer the scientific are weird." Remarked Loki biased.

A chuckle left her mouth "They are"

"Are you still decided to focus on magic?" She asked him as they were on the topic of magic

"Yes, I don't want to turn into a barbarian like Thor" A memory of Thor saying he wanted to be a Valkyrie flashed in his mind making him smile.

"That means I will be the one to teach you. And I won't be merciful." She warned him a strange glint in her eyes.

"Better than being taught by father" added Loki not scared by what she said, only thrilled.

"Why is that?" she asked intrigued, she did not know Loki thought like that.

"he is too manipulative," remarked Loki, Odin was after all a God of war and wisdom. His plans had plans.

"Like you?" her lips curled up, they were more alike than they would ever admit.

"I am not manipulative mother." Said Loki with an offended tone.

"That's what a manipulative person would say." She remarked she knew him too much.

"A normal person would also say that" said Loki in defense.

"Maybe, who knows." Her voice turned mysterious as if speaking about the vastness of the universe.

"I know!" he said ignoring her tone.

"Fine, you win, you aren't manipulative." She held up her hand.

Silence once again rose in the air of the library.

"Mother, will I be able to use divine magic?" asked Loki, his head down.

"Of course, Loki." She quickly answered looking at him in the eyes

"But you and father adopted me and from what I know Frost Giants don't have divinities." His voice trembled while speaking.

Yes, after some years, Odin had finally decided to reveal to him his heritage. Loki wasn't sure why, maybe it was because this Odin was a bit different from the MCU's one. Or maybe it was because of how different Loki was from canon Loki.

After all, Loki showed many achievements and maturity except for his daily mischiefs.

"Yes, they don't. But you are special, you are our son. Don't worry you are filled with divinities at this point you are more our son than Laufey's." She leaned to him and held his hand.

"Then can you teach it to me, I want to be like you and Thor?" he said in a small voice still looking down at his shoes.

"Loki, … I can see through you." She declared with a truthful expression, looking at him directly in the eyes.

"What?" he asked with his eyebrows in the air.

"You just want me to teach you, all this discussion was about provoking my pity on the lone Frost Giant you, who really wants to be like his adopted family." Though she said this her voice was still warm.

*haha* he laughed a bit and scratched the back of his neck "I just really want to learn magic and master my divinity."

"Fine, I'll teach you" she declared after a long moment.

"Thank you, mother!" he hugged her "So how are we starting?"

writing during vacations is more difficult.. I first wanted to write about SIf, Thor and Loki but then I had no Idea and it would be boring.

if you like this story, give it a powerstone or two, and maybe even three!
