Elijah

~Some call it chaos, we call it family.

Kayla grunts and groans. She bites her lip. Kol his voice becomes slowly more and more clear. "Kayla? Kayla? Kayla!!" Kayla swallows and blinks with her eyes. What happened? Where was she? A minute ago, she was still at the party? Right? "Kayla" repeats Kol. Kayla blinks. She slowly opens her eyes. "Oh god Kayla. Do not ever do that again to me!" Kol sits squatted down on the floor of an old abandoned mansion. Kayla finds herself laying on an old dusty sofa. "What happened" she whispers blurry. "Some idiot thinks he has the right to kidnap you and live to tell the tale "growls Kol. His vampire features are showing. Elena sits next to her. Just like Kayla, Elena is still wearing the same clothes as yesterday. "Kayla" whispers Elena. Kayla grunts. What on earth did they give her. She was sure that she felt a needle in her neck. Elena sits up on the sofa. Trembling. Afraid...

"Where are we" she asks and looks around. The windows are boarded. Candles surround the entire room. A young boy walk towards them. "I am not Katherine" says Elena. "I know" the boy says and shows his fangs. "I just need a taste." "No" says Elena and crawls backwards. "Don't dare it mate." Kayla hastily shuffles up. "No don't touch her" Kayla yells. "Trevor" a loud female voice sound. Kayla and Elena look up. Trevor sighs. "Buzzkill." "Oh my god you look just like her" says the woman. "But I am not." "Be quite" the woman orders sternly. Elena stands up in front of Kayla. "Oh god, Rose" grunts Kol. "Rose" asks Kayla not understanding. Rose looks up at her. "Have we met?" Kayla swallows. "Do not tell her about me darling, she won't hesitate to kill you." "I heard about you" lies Kayla. Rose looks puzzled at the young girl. "Please what do you want with me" asks Elena. "I want you to be quite" Rose answers and observes Elena. "I don't know anything about Katherine. I" her sentence gets interrupted by Rose who hits Elena rock hard. "Elena" yells Kayla and supports her unconscious sister. "Darling do not provoke her please" says Kol. Rose looks at Kayla. "I need you to be silent" Rose says. Kayla looks in shock at Rose. "Please, can I ask one thing?" "Darling" warns Kol. Rose nods after thinking a short while. "Can I have a glass of water, please." Kol rolls his eyes. "I was afraid you were going to ask something stupid" he jokes. Rose nods to Trevor who rushes away. Kayla keeps sitting with Elena while Rose walks further. "What they want" asks Kayla soft. "I don't know darling. I know they are old. My kind of old. And my brother... he wants both of them dead. They double-crossed him once. With Katherina. That woman, she is the one who turned Katharina." "She did." "Kayla, please. From now on listen to me. I do fear for you right now." Kayla looks at him. She knows he isn't lying. She could see the worry in his face. "I am afraid... For you. For my brother." "Your brother" she asks surprised. Trevor returns with the glass. "Trevor" she asks. Trevor looks around. He can't see Rose. He kneels down with her. Kayla swallows. "He is okay darling. Speak with him." "Why am I here? Just an honest question. Please answer honest." "You are here, to make sure that she doesn't do anything stupid" says Trevor. He sighs. "And my contact made a mistake. He took you. Not Elena. He thought you were Elena." Kayla bites her lip. "Thank you for being honest" she says. Trevor nods and stands up. He patiently waits until Kayla has drunk her glass. "Darling, please. Do not do anything stupid" Kol asks once again. Kayla nods and looks at Elena who grunts and wakes up. "Kayla" she groans. "Sst, it is okay. I am here" she says. Elena nods. She sighs and stands up. "I am sick of running" she hears Rose yelling. Kayla swallows. "Running from who" she asks softly. "My brother" gasps Kol. He closes his eyes. He knows what this means. "Elena, we need to be careful. Kol his brother is very old and very strong. He believes that his brother is coming somehow." "Or that they are working for him. If only I knew which one" sighs Kol. Elena swallows. Silent as a mouse she stands up. She beacons at Kayla. "Darling don't" warns Kol. "I can't just keep sitting here Kol" she whispers and follows Elena. Elena tries to sneak away with kayla behind her feet.

"Yeah? well running keeps us from dying" says Trevor. "Elijah is old-school, he'll keep his deal. "Elijah" asks Kayla soft. "Thank god it is Elijah" says Kol relieved. ""You" yells Rose. "There is nothing in the neighborhood. You have nowhere to go." Elena swallows. "Who is Elijah" she asks. Rose grunts. "Your worst nightmare" she answers afraid and walks away. "You can count on that" says Kol. "Do not tell him I am with you Kayla; it is a life-or-death situation." Kayla nods.

Elena looks at Kayla. "Elijah" she asks. "Brother" she whispers almost soundless. Kayla nods. "Which one is Elijah. Dopey, dooshie or dickie?" "Hilarious darling" says Kol unamused. "Elijah is older than me. Heck all my brothers are older than me. He isn't the oldest. Older als Niklaus though luckily. But he is... honest. Let's just keep it with that. He is polite, a man of his words." Kayla nods. She looks at Elena. "What" asks Elena. Kayla repeats Kol softly. Afraid that Trevor could hear her. Elena swallows. "Why did they summon Elijah?" "It has to do with the doubleganger and... Oh no" grunts Kol. "What" asks Kayla. "Kayla" asks Elena. "The ritual I told you about. Don't tell her yet Darling." Kayla swallows. The ritual she thinks. In her mind she tries to remember his exact words. He told about the ritual. The sacrifice of the double ganger! No this cannot be! "Why am I here' asks Elena. "You ask me these questions like I answer them." "Why won't you" asks Elena and walks down the stairs. "There is another one." "You got me, the least you can do is tell my what you want of me." "I personally want nothing. I am just the delivery girl." "Deliver girl" asks Kayla not understanding. "You are not part of that" says Rose, busy with tyding up. "Elijah" asks Elena. "Two points for the eves dropping" laughs Rose. "Who is he, a vampire?" "He is one of the vampires. The originals." "Originals asks Elena and looks at Kayla. "Have the Salvators learned you nothing about vampire history" asks Rose not interested. "Oh bloody hell" sighs Kol. "Now the doubleganger knows." Kayla bites her lip. "So you know Stefan and Damon" asks Elena. "I know of them. A hundred years back, a friend of mine tried to set me up with Stefan. She said he was one of the good ones. I'm more of a sucker for the bad boys though but I digress." "Who are the originals" asks Elena. "Darling" warns Kol. "Trevor and I have been running for 500 years. We're tired, we want it over. We're using you to negotiate ourselves out of an old mess." "But why me, and why Kayla?" "Because you are petrova doubleganger and she is leverage for you." "You're the key to breaking the curse." "She will find out darling" says Kol. "The curse? The sun and the moon curse?" "Oh, you do know your history." "What do you mean I'm the key? The moonstone is what breaks the curse." "No, the moonstone is what binds the curse. The sacrifice is what breaks it." "The sacrifice?" "The blood of the doppelgänger. You're the doppelgänger. Which means, in order to break the curse you're the one who has to die." "You knew about this" asks Elena and looks at Kayla. "He knew about this?!" "Darling keep her shut" says Kol. Kayla shakes her head. "Did who knew about this" asks Rose. "Nobody, eh my ex boyfriend is a werewolf" says Kayla. "Thank you darling" laughs Kol. "That's a handful." "Captivity has made her pushy, eh? What do you want to know doppelicious" says Tyler laughing. "Who were you running from?" "Yeah, she said that. What does that mean?" "The first family, the old world. Rose and I pissed them off." "Correction, I pissed them off, Rose had my back and for over half a millennium, they wanted us dead." "What did you do?" "He made the same mistake countless others did: he trusted Katerina Petrova." "Katherine?" "The one and only, the first Petrova Doppelgänger." "I helped her escape her fate and now I've, sorry, we've been marked ever since." Which is why we're not gonna make the same mistake again." Kayla looks at Kol. "I'm sorry Darling, I must confess I didn't give you the details because I didn't think they would matter." Elena drops on the sofa with Kayla. "Did he know about this? Did your boyfriend tell you about this" she asks with tears in her eyes. "Elena, please be more silent. They cannot know." "Just tell me truth Kayla. For once!" "For once, nice one to talk" she says. "Darling, my family wants this. I never wanted any part of this. Please believe me. Like I said always and forever. That was them not me. I do not fancy a doubleganger and I certainly don't care about breaking the curse. "

"He is here" says Trevor and runs inside. Kayla jumps up. Elena takes her hand while they are nervously chatting. A bouncing sound. "U are scared" says Elena. "Stay here with them and don't make a sound. "Do as told darling" says Kol. Kayla nods.

He follows her. They arrive at the main room. Elena hears them. She's scared and turns her head. Elijah looks at her. He's surprised and rushes over to her. He looks at her and smells her neck Kayla swallows. Her heart bounces in her chest like a racing horse. "This is Elijah darling" says Kol. "Human, impossible" says Elijah. "And who is this" asks Elijah and looks at Kayla. "She will be your funeral if you touch her" threatens Kol. "An extra" says Rose. Kayla swallows while Elijah smells her neck. He smiles. "And what must I do with this extra." Elena trembles. "Please do not hurt my sister." Kayla shivers standing so close with him. "We have a long journey head of us. We should be going." "Do not touch her brother" groans Kol. "Please, don't let him take her" begs Kayla. "And why is that" asks Elijah. A smile on his lips. "She had nothing to do with this. "One last piece of business and we're done." Elijah smiles. He lifts his hand and cuts Trevor his head clean from his shoulders. Kayla gasps and steps back. "That's my brother" chuckles Kol. Elena looks in shock at Rose who cries heavy. "No, what about the moonstone?" Elijah smiles and takes Kayla in his arms. "What do you know about the moonstone?" "Do not harm her mate" says Kol. " I know that you need it and I know where it is." "Yes?" " I can help you get it." "Tell me where it is." "It doesn't work that way." "Are you negotiating with me?" A smile creeps on his lips. "It's the first I've heard of it." "He tries to compel Elena but it doesn't work. He looks at her necklace" "What is this vervain doing around your neck?" "He pulls the necklace off her neck and throws it away. He grabs her head and compels her. His left hand on her jaws, his right hand around Kayla. "Tell me where the moonstone is." "Tell me where the moonstone is." "What is it doing there?" "It's with Katherine." "Interesting" "Kol" whispers Kayla. "I can't help darling. He still is my brother." They hear breaking glass from upstairs. "What is that?" Kayla looks up at Elena. "I don't know" bites Rose. Elijah grabs Elena with his other arm. Kayla swallows when his strong hand around her arm leaves blue marks. "Brother" groans Kol. Frustrated that Elijah had no idea about his presence.

"Rose" asks Elijah. "i have no idea who it is." "Up here" sounds Stefan his voice. Kayla looks up. Elijah lets go of Elena and smiles amused. He runs up the stairs with vampire speed still with Kayla in his arms. "Down here" says Damon his voice. Elijah receives in stake in his hand. He removes it. Elena and Rose have disappeared. Kayla swallows. "Of course the damn Salvatores only save Elena" groans Kol. Kayla swallows. Her heart pound loudly in her chest. Elijah his other hand is still around Kayla her body. "Excuse me. To whom it may concern, you're making a great mistake if you think that you can beat me. You can't. Do you hear that?" "Stay" he says to Kayla. Kayla swallows. "Kayla do not listen please." Elijah breaks a wooden coat rack into a stake. "I repeat, you cannot beat me. So I want the girl, I'm going to count to three or heads will roll. Do we understand each other?" Kayla grunts when Damon grabs her. Damon places his hand over her lips. Kayla sighs relieved to see her best friend. Elena appears at the top of the stairs. "I'll come with you, just please don't my friends, they just wanted to help me out." "He goes up the stairs with his super speed. He has the stake in his hand" " What game are you playing with me?" She throws the vervain bomb in his face. It explodes. His skin burns but he heals immediately. He goes toward Elena but Stefan arrives and shoots him with the compressed air weapon. It doesn't hurt him so Stefan throws the weapon and rushes at Elijah and tackles him. They fall down the stairs. Elijah gets up immediately but Stefan stays on the floor. He goes toward Stefan but Damon appears and stakes Elijah. "No" yell Kol and Kayla together. Kol groans. "You are dead soon Salvatore" he says filled with rage.

He pushes him against the door. Elijah is dead and is pinned to the door with the stake. Rose sees it and leaves. Damon tries to follow her. Kol looks at Elijah. He smirks. He knows this isn't the end. " Just let her go" says Elena and runs into Stefan his arms. Kayla swallows. Damon hugs her tight. "Are you okay" he asks. Kayla nods. "Thank you" she whispers. "Hey come here. Are you hurt? Are you okay?" I'm fine" answers Kayla. "As if" scoffs Kol. "Kayla we need to leave. Now. This isn't over" says Kol. Kayla nods. "We need to go" she says and takes Damon his hand. She cannot wait to just lay in her bed, sleep and chill with her best friend.
