Chapter 19

I don't own solo leveling or Jujutsu Kaisen

...

"The name's Satoru, Gojo Satoru."

...

"To be honest with you I'm impressed that you were able to withstand the domain's effects for that long considering you don't have my brain," Gojo complimented, helping Kim to his feet. He saw Gojo fixing the blindfold in his hands to cover up his eyes, eyes similar to his own.

"What's happening right now? Am I going crazy?" Rubbing his temples together because of the huge migraine building up.

"Eh, you're not there yet. I don't have much time right now so I'll keep things brief," he explained, "Most of what you experienced just now in the domain should come back to you over time, I did something similar before you awakened with the system. Although, you're not unconscious this time around, so the memories will run through little faster than before."

"So, is that what my outbursts from before were?" Kim asked, theorizing the reason as to why he'd lose himself to moments of rage or emotion and suddenly get stronger and more effective in battle.

"If by outbursts, you mean those times you were able to use Limitless properly then, yeah. Outbursts," Gojo drawled, sarcastically. "Didn't you say you were running out of time or something?" Kim responded with a twitch of annoyance.

"Or something... Anyway, I was called upon by celestial beings to help them in some kind of war that was going to occur sometime in the coming future. I was meant to be their secret weapon."

Suddenly the white realm shifted to a vision of the city of Seoul up in flames, his home.

"They gave me visions of a world decimated by fires and chaos, your world. I needed a proper vessel to assimilate with and join in the coming battle, but I couldn't find a proper host," Gojo smiled a little, "However, after sometime I was able to run into you by chance, someone with compatible enough DNA to my own and had the potential to handle my immense powers. It was fortunate that you were near death at the time. But it turns out I'm not so good at the whole assimilation thing like those other guys, so something strange happened."

"And that was?"

"You see, I'm an anomaly in this universe something that shouldn't exist. Those guys that I mentioned tried their best to make my existence a natural part of this dimension, but it was a futile effort. Once they realized this, in desperation, they scattered some of my memories and consciousness to recesses of your mind that you'd be able to access once you reached a certain level. You haven't quite reached that level, so I launched my domain expansion to speed up the process by a lot."

"How much is a lot?" Kim asked. "Try several years, the Limitless is way more complicated than you think," Gojo laughed at Kim's incredulous expression. "Won't that amount information in such a short time fry my brain?" Kim commented, breathlessly. Gojo just looked at him for a moment before putting a hand to his chin in thought. Kim stood there perplexed watching Gojo think.

"Oh... That shouldn't be an issue after a while. I did say you have a strong mind even though it's not quite like mine. However, this method should get you to the next memory fragment exponentially faster."

"I see..." Kim hummed to himself before turning back to Gojo, "Are you the one that created the system?" he asked, pressing further for answers. The blindfold lookalike looked ahead for a moment, long enough for him to think he wouldn't answer his question.

"... Yes and no. My cursed energy was used as a sort of ignition key for the system, but the entirety of its architecture was handled by someone else. They say it's a pretty half-assed copy compared to original designer's work." Satoru explained. His body staterd fading after this sentence with the burning city below beginning to slowly vanish into the current non desolate state of Seoul.

"It seems mine time has run out. If you want to ask more questions then search for the next memory fragment." Satoru told him.

"Wait! One last thing. Why help my world?" Kim asked, desperately grabbing at the space Gojo Satoru had occupied. He realized that getting an answer from his lookalike at this point wasn't going to happen, but he wanted to know regardless.

'It was meant to be a new start for me, but things didn't work out that way!' And that was all he got before Gojo vanished into thin air, taking him back to the rooftop he previously stood on.

"Woah!" he heard a loud exclamation. He stumbled forward a little and when his vision adjusted he saw himself leaning on Mi young, who looked a little startled at him suddenly regaining consciousness.

"Why were standing there like a statue?! And then you suddenly start moving out of nowhere! You're so weird!" she exclaimed angrily. 'So, all of that happened inside my head?' Kim thought, flatly ignoring her outburst.

"How long was I out of it?" He wondered, moving himself off her.

"I don't know? I got here 30 minutes ago and you were just standing there staring off into space. Were you meditating or something?"

"Or something," he replied curtly, before stumbling and being forced to one knee. That memory lapse crystal certainly took a lot out of him.

"Hey, be careful!" she cried out worriedly, "You're not looking too good there, Bora. Do you need some water or something?" she asked, putting his arm over her shoulders and helping up to his feet.

"... Just some rest. Uh, can you help me get to my room?"

"Alright, but you better not pass out on me, Bora!" she responded sharply, causing him to chuckle lightly. "Y-Yeah... I'll try not." he murmured.

'He's never sounded this weak before. Not even after a dungeon raid,' she hasn't seen many hunters throughout her time in the big city, but heard of the various different injuries they pick up in Gates from other people around her. From severe bruising to torn off limbs, but for some reason she's never heard nor seen of the man, leaning on her for support, be in such a state. Every time he's returned to this apartment, walking through the front lobby without a scratch on him, he seemed to be really strong in her opinion, even though he said he wasn't really. It was slightly jarring seeing him like this.

As soon as they made it to his room, Mi Young immediately set him down onto his bed and went to the kitchen to boil up some water to make tea with. "There's no need for all that. I'll be fine with just a little rest," he reassured her, wanting to stop her worrying about him. He saw her give him a look that said 'are you serious? Look at you right now', but relented to his request.

"If you say so... I guess this tea is for me, then. What brand is this by the way?" she said, smelling the aroma coming off the teabag.

"It was a gift from my uncle. He knows I'm a history buff and he got me some of those teabags to help me relax whenever I'm reading my 'boring' books," Kim replied with a touch of fondness in his tone at the thought of his relative. He then started wincing in slight pain as a massive assault of memories not his own invaded his mind, one after the other.

"That's interesting. But I've never seen you pick up a book once in your time here," she responded absentmindedly, not noticing his plight because he kept his struggle to a minimum. A struggle that would continue for an entire minute before everything ceased and he was able to breathe a sigh of relief. Relinquished from the pain of the memories.

"He wasn't kidding..." He muttered to himself. After processing all the memories in his head, several years worth, he was able to see what Gojo Satoru meant about the Limitless was more complicated than he ever thought possible.

Just the application of blue had its own vast number of possibilities that he hadn't even conceived of. Flight, Teleportation, and the ability to crush or bend space to his whim, something that he already some had experience with.

"Who wasn't kidding?" he saw Mi young standing over him with a tea cup in hand. She offered him a cup that which he accepted.

"Nothing. I was just thinking out loud," he replied.

"You do that a lot, you know that?" she said teasingly.

"I do not!" he retorted back, childishly. She always managed to bring out that side of him.

"Do too," she shot back just as childishly, and they sat together childishly arguing about other things for the rest of that afternoon.

After he had bid Mi Young a goodbye once she was satisfied that he wasn't going to collapse or anything like that soon, he immediately went to reflect on his thoughts and the memories he had flashbanged into his head.

'I can't wait to discover all of these abilities,' he clenched his fist with a happy grin. His face became a little darker when he thought back to the other things Gojo Satoru had shown him. He wouldn't let his world burn. He couldn't let it burn, because they hadn't yet seen what he's capable of yet.

'This only the beginning.' he had been given the theory on his abilities now all he had to do was apply them practically.

Think of the outbursts as sort of an Avatar State type of thing. And then think of the Bleeding effect in Assassin's Creed as to the reason he's able to use the decently well with no instruction. Or how he doesn't need years and years of training to use an ability like blue very quickly, but the Limitless is still very complex.

After receiving the memories of Satoru Gojo, it's like he has the Limitless handbook in his brain, but he still needs to be able to practically apply everything in that 'handbook'. When he gets emotional the information becomes easier to understand and use, but he doesn't really like doing that because it's hard to reason in that moment.

He thinks he's lucky that there hasn't been any allies nearby, because he finds it difficult to distinguish friend from foe in that 'outburst state'.
