At this moment, Gu Yaxi pretended to be innocent as well. "It couldn't be me either. Everyone knows that Little Wu and I are best friends. I got so pissed off when she fell down just now. I thought it was my cousin who tripped her up."

Gu Yaxi was looking for excuses.

Ling Wu could hardly remember how she fell down. She was rushing to play poker at that time, so she did not notice it.

Upon hearing Gu Yaxi's words, Ling Wu felt that it might be possible too.

After all, it was in her nature to easily lose her balance and fall down. Hence, the possibility mentioned by Gu Yaxi was very likely to happen.

Seeing her infuriated mother, Ling Wu reached out to tug her hand. "Mom, I tripped over myself. No one made me fall."

"Kick this fellow out of here and never let him enter the Ling family's house again!"

"Madam Ling, who are you kicking out?" A cold voice spread across the atmosphere from Madam Ling's back.

There was a lack of emotion in that voice without any indication of warmth as if that person was born this way.

As Madam Ling turned around, her anger began to ease with her face softened when she saw Fu Beichen. She replied in a much more subdued tone, "This fellow. The eldest grandson of the Gu family, Gu Nanyu. If it's not because of the business dealings with the Gu family, our Ling family will never let this kind of person in!"

"Oh?" Fu Beichen raised his eyebrows. "In that case, it seems like I'm at fault."

Madam Ling was puzzled. "What does this have to do with you, Beichen?"

"Because I brought him in."

As Fu Beichen spoke, he tilted his head and looked at Gu Nanyu.

No one seemed to notice the gloominess deep in his eyes.
