Reality

The elites who drive the buses came down, leading the students inside. Just as they left the parking lot, they saw another group of buses coming in, probably another section of new students.

They were led into a large assembly auditorium. When they got in, they saw the students from other sections already inside. As the elites brought them inside, they turned and left.

Soon another group of new students walked in, seemingly this was the last one because when they got in, a man in a black suit climbed the stage.

*Dub* *dup*

The person tapped on the mic of the pulpit twice, the sound caught the attention of all the students, causing them to turn and face the stage. The little chatter that had been ongoing came to an end.

Asher stood with Lily, his eyes were on the man, but his attention was on what Elsa was saying to him.

"That man has a dangerous aura, he is not simple at all," Elsa said.

Asher looked at the man who was about to start talking, he had silver hair and a well-chiseled face, and coupled with his cooperate dressing, he looked outstanding. Then again that was all Asher saw, he could not tell what Elsa was seeing.

"Just try to not interact with him too much during your stay in the academy," Elsa said.

Asher nodded, he trusted her judgment very much.

The man who was on stage began speaking.

"Welcome to all of you, I am headmaster Leo." His voice was strong and confident. "You have done well to be able to get to this point, not everyone can be cut out to become elites. As of today, you are all properties of the alliance, this means the alliance will take care of your needs, but it also means that you are to obey the alliance till the end." He paused, sweeping through all the students.

"I know that everybody here knows why they are here. You are not here for the power or recognition, but you are here to ensure humanity has a future. I am not saying that power and recognition are not important, but I want you to all know your priorities."

He turned facing the large screen on the wall of the stage, pulling a remote from his pocket and clicking a button.

The screen lit up, revealing and video that caused the hearts of everyone to go cold. It was a video of elites combating a group of beasts, the beast tore, ripped, and pummeled a lot of the elites. Some of the elites in the video died without having a body to be buried.

The scene was uncensored, it was bloody and gory. Some of the students began turning away, not wanting to see, it was just too much for them.

Lily was petrified by the scene on the screen, she was trembling, but her eyes refused to leave the screen. Asher was not better off, his heartbeat was exceedingly quick, his body trembled whenever he saw an elite's head getting chewed off, or getting mashed into a paste.

The headmaster turned and looked at them, before facing the screen, he was not done yet. He changed the image on the screen to a worse scene.

The scene held even more brutally than the last, and this time he allowed the sound of the video to come out, filling the auditorium with horror.

The sound of a man getting chewed, a person turned from his limb, a person crushed. Guttural screams filled the auditorium.

After a few more minutes, the headmaster turned to the students, he clicked a button on his remote, stopping the video.

"Some of you will see me as deranged, some of you will call me psycho, but what you have just witnessed is reality." His eyes looked through the host of shaking students.

"Some of you have witnessed the brutality of these beasts, but most of you haven't. Most of you have been sheltered by the sacrifices of those men you saw on the screen." His voice got sharp and serious. "You have been in peace because those men gave their lives for you, so when I say that the power and recognition were not to be your priority, I said it because of what you just saw."

"What use is a medal if it is given to your corpse, what use is the recognition if it is given to your dead body? Most of you came here with the mindset that you were special." He pointed to the paused video behind him.

"If you are special, then what are they? They all had the abilities that make you see yourself as special, yet they died in battle, some without a body."

"Their special ability could not save them at that point, so I beg you to reset your mindset."

"You need to understand that the moment you walked in here, you most likely signed your death certificate."

The room had gone cold, every one was sober.

"I will not lie to you, most of you will never live long enough to have kids."

"I say all this not to scare you, but to let you know the reality of the place you have found yourself. The world is cruel, but we must learn to adapt."

"If you want to survive, I would like to tell you to put away all your pride. All the things you think make you special will not save you in the face of death."

He looked at the students, then he turned off the paused screen. He stood there, allowing everything to sink into the heads of the students. Now that he had finished, he would go on to orientate them in the workings of the school.

What the headmaster had just done was a technique to push the students to work extremely hard, or leave the academy. The academy needed only those who were ready to give their all for humanity.
