Keeping Symbols of Power(Rewrite)

Ares was frozen stiff as he could not defend himself at the moment. He put all his energy into the final attack. But would it matter when faced with Azrael? The Angel of Death smiled, but Ares only felt the oppressiveness of death over him.

Azrael looked at the god before looking away to Kurayai.

"Boy, what were you thinking?"

Kurayami was being scolded like a child, but he might as well be one.

"I was thinking of winning."

Azrael shook his head.

"Winning? By dying? You should give it your all, but not when you almost die in the process. Don't break my granddaughter's heart? You know her feelings for you don't you?"

Kurayami looked at the ground as he knew, but he still kept her at a distance. Azrael had watched them for a long time and knew it well.

"Attitude like that won't win her over. Tell me, do you love her? Love that girl Esdeath? Kuroka? Can you even feel love?"

Kurayami did not look up as he looked at his reflection in Rebellion's blade. His right eye was still gone, but the wound was starting to mend itself. As he looked at his face he questioned that himself.

After all he had gone through and done did he have it in him to feel something as pure as love? Just as he was pondering on this, Kuroka jumped out of the SUV and ran toward Kurayami in full sprint.

When she reached him, she pulled him up off the ground.

"Kurayami. Hold on, I will heal you."

He groaned because of all the cuts, broken bones, and stressed-out Mana Pathways. Kuroka drew on her Senjutsu and began to heal him slowly. He was drained of all Mana as that last attack used it all.

"Thanks, Kuroka."

She nodded with tears in her eyes.

"Why did you do that? If you had just fought together you wouldn't be in this state."

Azrael did not interrupt as Akeno, Raynare, and Esdeath all ran over. Akeno rushed over to his side and she grabbed his cheeks. Her eyes were red, her face was covered in tears as she saw the cut on his face.

He had no eye and even with healing it would scar forever. But she could save his eye though.

"YOU IDIOT!"

Under his feet, a multilayered healing circle appeared as began to heal him along Kuroka. She focused on his face and drove out Ares' Divine Flames before treating the slash burn.

She even began to help him recover his Mana as she healed his eye. Slowly, but surely his right eye came back. She focused on healing his entire body as this fight had caused fractures and tears all over his body.

When he had a bit of Mana back, he began to help by drawing more ambient mana to heal. Azrael waited for them to heal him before he talked.

"Let's all talk. First things first, Ares how did you let yourself be brainwashed by your grandfather so easily?"

Ares was still on his knees as no one had healed him. He forced himself off the ground with his sword on shaky knees.

"That was who was talking to me? No wonder, as for how I don't know."

Azrael shook his head as he walked toward Ares. He lunged forward and snatched away his Symbol of Power.

"Seems I will be taking this. Oh, and let's not forget these two."

Azrael also took the Helm of Darkness and The Master Bolt which left Ares slack-jawed.

"Why?"

Azrael frowned.

"You and the boy were both acting like children, not a god or a proud Fallen. If you want it back you better come to Grigori to pick it up. Now go."

Ares did not want to leave, but Azrael was not giving him a choice. As he was about to leave Kurayami called out to him. Akeno and Kuroka were holding him as he could barely stand himself.

"Hey."

Ares turned around to look at him angry.

"Yeah?"

Kurayami grinned something he had barely done in his life.

"You gave me the fight of a lifetime. Let's fight again someday."

Ares grinned back.

"If you want."

With that, Ares teleported away knowing he would have to go to Japan to get his sword back. When he was gone, Raynare looked at her grandfather with a gaze full of mixed feelings.

She wanted to know more about him, wanted him in her life, but did he? Azrael gave her a sad smile.

"We have much to talk about, child. I will answer any question you have, just give me time."

Raynare nodded.

"Please do."

"I promise."

He then looked down at the sword he took from Ares and gave it to Kurayami who was still being held by him.

"Hold onto this."

Kurayami reached out and took Ares' sword.

"Why did you take it?"

"So he would calm down. Here, hold onto this as well."

He also gave him Zeus' Master Bolt before he handed the Helm to Raynare. Azrael had some ideas on how to use the Symbols of Power before returning them.

"I know someways you kids can benefit from them. But, first things first."

He turned to Esdeath who was still looking up at him. She had heard stories from Azazel on Azrael and she wanted to hear him speak of them himself.

"Child, I have a question for you. Would you like to be a Fallen Angel? You may be a powerful human, but you are limited by it. Look at Vasto Strada, enough power to defeat Kokabiel, and yet age is killing him."

Esdeath thought about it and she knew Raynare and Kurayami would outlive her and dying of age would be terrible for all involved. Esdeath thought about it and asked the important thing.

"I will accept. Since you are Raynare's grandfather and saved us you must care, but how?"

Azrael smiled as it was an original spell he created.

"I do care. As for how I will do it, all It will take is a spell and my blood to make you a partial Fallen. Much like the Devils, but unlike then with training you will make it your own.

However, there is no chance for you to inherit my Death Powers. Kurayami I shall gift you some of my blood as well to increase your purity. Raynare doesn't need it as my blood flows through her veins already.

Akeno will also receive this gift. Consider this a gift from me for being absent this entire time."

Kurayami looked down at the large sword and The Master Bolt. With both, he felt unlimited power run through his body and felt the desire to keep them forever. However, he had his own powers which one day would surpass this.

For now, he waited for Azrael to finish. He gripped his hand and dropped a few drops on Esdeath's head as a green and black magic circle opened under her. The blood seeped through her skin and her blue hair gained a few black streaks and two pairs of black wings extended from her back.

Azrael did the same for Kurayami and Akeno which made them feel a great difference. They were the children of a Cadre which was high on the hierarchy of Fallen Angels. But when Azrael and Baraqiel were compared, it was not even the same.

Azrael was the first of God's Angels as he was supposed to be Death incarnate. He was the closest to God compared to his brothers so this was just that. Kurayami could feel the changes better than anyone else.

His special soul had already caused his bloodline and Akeno's to mutate, but this added to that. In Kurayami's case, his bloodline used Azrael's blood to cleanse itself of what it considered inferior human genes. Replacing them with Fallen Angel genes of the highest order.

Kurayami felt his stressed body healing rapidly and he felt himself be pushed closer to the Cadre rank. Akeno felt the same and through their bond, they felt how each other felt.

As they were having a moment, Annabeth got out of the SUV and walked over. She did not speak as she did not feel like she belonged. However, Azrael had something more important to do than entertain her.

He walked toward Rayanare and took her into his arms. He looked down at her as he wiped the tears forming on her face

"I have been watching over you and I can say your father would be proud. Just like I am."

Raynare cried even harder and hugged him tightly. Azrael felt the guilt and mountain of shame he carried on his back reduce. However, she did not hesitate to ask what she wanted to know.

"Why weren't you there when Dad and mom died? They needed you."

Azrael closed his eyes in remorse.

"I was punishing myself for a reason I can't say. I can now say it was foolish and it cost me my son. To this day I still blame myself, but I won't make the same mistake again. Not with you. Or the boy you love."

Raynare blushed while Kurayami felt called out. Esdeath frowned, but Azrael did not forget her. He smiled as he extended a hand to her.

"You can call me Father now."

She looked at him slack-jawed and he began to laugh a hearty dad laugh.

"How did you think I made you a Fallen? My blood is in your veins and a human DNA test would say you are my daughter now. As for you boy, say hi to your grandfather-in-law."

Azrael began to laugh again and seemed he liked to joke around. Esdeath was now weirded out.

"Are you being serious?"

Azrael shook his head.

"No. It was making a joke. It does not change the fact my blood is in your veins now, but we are not related."

Esdeath sighed in relief, but she decided to ask one thing.

"Wait. Where have you been all this time?"

Azrael smiled and pointed down.

"Tartarus. What better place to train and punish me? That place makes you suffer untold nightmares, pain, and its environment will kill a normal being. By training there I managed to get even stronger. You interested?"

While they wanted to agree it was Tartarus after all. They shook their heads as they are not cocky to say they can take it. Azrael smiled at that.

"Good. You are not ready for that place, but in time you will be. I will take you there and train you myself. For now, though, pass me The Master Bolt."

Kurayami handed him The Master Bolt and waited to see what he did. Azrael began to lesson.

"Ok, this applies only to you two. Kurayami and Akeno. You two are unique in this world as you share ties to several beings. One, Amaterasu the Ancestor of your Mother's clan. Two, God as he created all Fallen Angels your Father included.

Being children of Baraqiel, you inherited the ability God made for him, Holy Lightning. Only those of his line can use it, but that is why we have this. The Master Bolt. As long as I do not destroy it, Zeus will be able to recharge it."

Annabeth knew what he was planning.

"Wait, you planning on draining the Master Bolt?"

"Of course not, I will take as much as I can before it becomes a problem. Now then, let's start."

Azrael placed his hand near the middle of the Master Bolt's shaft where he began to drain the Divine Lightning contained within. Visible to everyone, the Bolt began to dim slightly as the Celestial Bronze became more visible.

Everyone worried he would drain it, but he did no such thing. He stopped when taking more would damage it. Zeus may be a dick, but if he was going to die it was on the battlefield.

"There we are. Now, to refine this a bit."

Azrael was the closest to God of all Angels so he was the nearest to a god. Using his Mana he refined the Divine Lightning a bit before he felt it was ready.

"Be ready for the sting."

Once he refined it, he blew on it and watched as it struck Kurayami and Akeno in the chest. The Divine Lightning entered their bodies before it began to be absorbed by their cells.

The super diluted blood of Amaterasu, their innate lightning affinity, and their mutated bloodline all got to work. Their Holy Lighting got purified, refined, and imbued with slight Divine Energy.

This also awoke ancient remnants of their Ancestor which would take time to manifest. Kurayami and Akeno both used their bond to work together which caused them to finish the process quite fast.

Both of them felt weird now like they were full as they were feeling new sensations. They looked at each other as having even a trace of Divine Energy was a boon.

"Take time to reflect on this. Now, let's talk to Zeus and see what he will give you as a way to get this back without being more drained out. Demigod girl, want to come?"

Annabeth nodded as she wanted to see what Azrael would do. As for Percy Azrael teleported him back to camp as he proved unable to cope. Annabeth asked something on her mind.

"Are you actually, Azrael? The Angel of Death?"

"The one and only, the first Angel ever made. Rival to Hades, and bully of Zeus."

Azrael was holding the Master Bolt after stealing some of the Lightning in it. He teleported then to the Empire State Building and forced his way in past the guards. He took the elevator and he kept a big smile on his face while he was going straight to the home of the gods with no fear in his expression.

As the rode up the elevator, Akeno turned to him.

'Brother, why do I feel so weird?'

'I feel it too. That Lightning seemed to have stirred some thing. We need to learn more about mom's family.'

'Agreed.'

Meanwhile, Esdeath was playing around with her new Light Magic. She was making daggers and trying to make Light mixed with her Sacred Gear. Raynare was just glad to meet her last family member and was in a cheerful mood. As for Annabeth she was seeing a new side to the world and was more than happy to be around.

"How strong are you, sir?"

Azrael smiled at her as she was just 10. The children were innocent so he was nice to them.

"Watch and see."

When they got into Olympus the gods were armed to the teeth and looked at Azrael with fear. Before he fell he was the greatest Angel in Heaven and was called God's Punisher for a reason. Zeus looked haggard as Azrael's stunt had hurt him.

He looked at The Helm of Darkness, Ares' sword and his weakened Bolt looking pissed.

"YOU AGAIN! YOU DESECRATED MY SYMBOL, AZRAEL!"

Azrael chuckled and shook his head.

"It will recharge. Don't blow a fuse. Now then, I have a few things to say. Tell Ares he can get his sword when he comes to Grigori in Japan. As for you, you can have it back if you pay for it."

Annabeth was shocked that he was being serious. Was he conning Zeus to pay for his own Bolt? Meanwhile, Hera turned around and smiled as she was quite pleased with Zeus' suffering.

As for Poseidon, he was thinking about how to profit from this. He was also kind of worried that Azrael was here How would he have known he knew a monster like Azrael? The sky rumbled in Zeus' rage, but Kurayami, Esdeath, Akeno, Kuroka, Annabeth, and Raynare didn't feel a thing.

Athena glanced at her daughter and worried she was being held, hostage. However, from the look of it, she was not so that made her worry a little less. Azrael even began to twirl the Master Bolt in his hands.

"I think there is more juice in here. My fellow Fallen could use another amp. I can keep it, or sell it to Odin if I want. That old man will take it in a jiffy if you don't pay up."

Athena tried to calm the situation as her daughter was involved.

"Father. How about we just pay for it before it is damaged again."

Zeus glared at her for even insinuating he would buy his weapon back. She backed away, but Poseidon spoke up.

"I will buy it."

Zeus saw that his brother threw away his pride and if he did nothing his weapon would truly be Poseidon's.

"YOU TRAITOR!"

Poseidon scoffed and made an offer as his brother would be weak for a time.

"I see the boy has an interest in beasts. I offer a divine horse from my stables. The same kind I gifted to Achilleas. Of course, that is not all and he will have access to the monsters of the sea with my blessing."

Kurayami was tempted and asked.

"What do they look like?"

Poseidon grinned as he knew Kurayami liked the color black.

"Blacker than the night, with lightning in their blood, never tiring and everlasting. They will never steer you wrong."

Zeus got pissed and made an offer out of need.

"I offer a Nemean Lion cub. While Regulus was taken by God, that does not mean he was the only one."

Poseidon was slack-jawed and glared at Zeus.

"I give you the horses and a newborn hydra.

Zeus scoffed at the offer and added in his animal.

"You get the lion cub and a hatchling Divine Aagle."

Kurayami agreed to his offer as Zeus did not give his eagles away ever.

"Deal"

Azrael tossed it to Zeus who felt proud of himself, but he even forgot he was buying what was his, to begin with. He was so mad he almost attacked Azrael, but he was no fool. His Master Bolt was drained and would take years to recharge.

"Leave me be. You will get them by the end of the day. As for Ares's sword, do as you will."

Poseidon sighed and looked at that with regret.

"While I did not get it, you did prove my son's innocence as Azazel promised. Tell him to come here. The horse is yours as payment for your job well done. I will also be talking to Azazel as we were doing before. I owe you, boy.'

He and most of the gods left except for Athena. She walked up to Annabeth and hugged her tight. She looked at Kurayami with a small smile

"Thank you for keeping my daughter safe. Annabeth, I approve of you going to Grigori. Go, live your dream that way, and not be trapped in the camp. We gods are not good parents."

Annabeth hugged her tight and shook her head.

"I still think you're a good mother."

Anthena bent down and gently kissed her on the forehead. She tapped her on the head and gave her a small blessing.

"Take care, my daughter."

She walked away which made Annabeth happy her mother acknowledged her. Azrael smiled and they took the elevator back to leave. After that fight where his emotions had been loosened, Kurayami's face was not so stiff or blank.

He even had a small barely noticeable smile.

"You are keeping the Lion for yourself, right? What will you do with the horse and eagle?

He thought about it as he had an idea.

"I will give the eagle to Dad and the horse I will keep if none of you want it."

Azrael accepted it.

"We will return the Helm at a later date, so think of it as a good toy for now. Hades is the god of riches and there are many things we can get from him."

Akeno was already overwhelmed with Azrael.

"But isn't he in the top 10?"

"Yes, but so am I. I am also higher on the list."

Esdeath saw Azrael as an old guy who had a lot of free time on his hands, but it got them cool powers. Kuroka wanted to ask him if he could save her sister, but she did not want to use him. She was going to get her back herself one way or another.

"Alright let's go get the Hellhound, the other kid and we can leave this country. Ares can get his symbol in a few days."

He teleported them to the camp where Percy was out and was asked by Chiron how he got in. He felt shocked when Azrael forced himself into the camp. When the centaur saw him he nearly passed out.

"Azrael. You are still alive."

Azrael just looked at Chiron like he was retarded.

"Why would I die? Anyway, Percy. Your father wants you to head to Olympus and Annabeth as your mother has permitted it, you can go to Grigori. Pack your stuff."

Annabeth jumped for joy as she could now truly live her life and not be stuck here. She also wanted to know what her mother did to her with that kiss. Percy looked at Annabeth and felt a little happy she was happy. He was fine staying here though.

He also wondered when his Mom was coming back. She might take a while as she had gotten close to Shemhazai. He was a bachelor and both of them got along. She decided to stay a little longer at Grigori but had agreed with Azazel that she could go visit when he was not at camp.

Chiron though sighed as Athena herself gave her blessing he could not do much. However little did he know that Azrael was not just taking Annabeth. He snapped his finger and cards started to rain from the sky and many campers read what was on them and were interested. Adventure. A safe place to train, not prisoners. What could be better?

Many wanted to agree immediately and the card said to drop some of your blood on it if you want. Out of the roughly hundred campers, about 30 agreed as the rest didn't trust it. The card told them to go to the front of the camp and they all saw Azrael who waved over.

"All those who agreed are over here. You can train, fight, and go on the adventures you want."

They ran over and Chiron was going to stop them, but Mr. D was smiling from ear to ear. He shook Azrael's hand and was in the best mood he had been since he was here.

"Take them. Take more if you want. It will make my job easier. Take all of the Hermes cabin brats, please."

Chiron was slack-jawed and shook his head.

"YOU BRATS! GO BACK TO YOUR CABINS!"

Clarise was one of the ones who wanted to go and was here.

"No way. I want to go on an adventure and not be stuck here."

One son of Hermes who was 16 nodded.

"Yeah. I never even met my dad. He doesn't care about us. The gods suck."

A daughter of Apollo agreed as well as ever since her mother died she had not once seen him.

"I have been in this camp since I was 6 and have not left it in 6 years. I am sick of it."

More and more agreed and Chiron could do nothing. Azrael looked around and smiled.

"Is that everyone? If you ever want to come you are free to do so."

He teleported them all and left Percy, Chiron, and the happy Dyonisus. With fewer campers, his job would be much easier. When he appeared at Grigori the kids looked around and were impressed with the place.

Annabeth looked at the building and was glad she agreed. Azazel, Baraqiel, and Shemazai all felt the familiar presence of several Fallen and flew out and when the campers saw their wings they were amazed.

When Azazel saw Azrael and the campers along with the Helm and sword he broke out laughing.

"Old man Azrael. You still the same shameless bastard as always?"

Azrael laughed and hugged Azazel tight. It made Azazel feel that his ribs were being broken.

"You still the same perv boy?"

Baraqiel meanwhile looked at Kurayami who had his clothes torn up. Also, he had a serious burn scar running down his right eye.

"SON! WHAT HAPPENED!"

He reached out to calm his Father down.

"I fought Ares to a standstill."

Baraqiel walked over and looked at the scar.

"No way to heal it?"

Azazel would work on it.

"I can heal it if you want?"

He shook his head as he wanted to keep.

"No, it is my trophy."

Baraqiel looked down before smiling.

"You were always a warrior at heart. This is just expected. Now, who are these kids?"

Kurayami explained to him.

"Greek demigods who were not happy with the gods. Monsters go after them so not many live to adulthood. They leave them at that camp to train, but that is it. They want to explore and go on adventures."

Azazel looked at the kids and clapped.

"Greetings all. You must be the ones who want to join Grigori?"

The kids nodded and he grinned. He was going to train them hard as they all had untapped potential. So much of it was still left to bring out and it was all going for his organization.

"The first thing you need to know is that the Greeks are not the only ones out there. We are Fallen Angles and as such your first thing will be to learn. After that, you will be allowed to go on a mission. Here are your cards."

A card appeared in their heads in Greek and it was a Nephilim card.

"That will be all for now."

The kids were all expecting great things and they would all come to think it was the best decision they ever made.

This Chapter became quite long.
