The mystery girl's aura selection

"Oh, I would like to see the last person's selection." Muta decided on that due to several reasons. The first is that the girl had to stay all the way to the very end to have her aura examined. Currently, there were not many people around and thus, he wanted to give her support. The second reason being that the girl had been giving him short glances throughout the selection. Her bright smile caught his eye, in addition to her two ponytails that bounced every time she turned around. She had kept the slightly bored Muta entertained and thought that she deserved an audience at least.

"Oh ok," Gavin smiled slightly as he knew that the boy wanted to stay for the girl ever since the beginning. He noticed there were small interactions between the two throughout the selection test. "Lets head back to where we were standing before then."

"Sure!" Muta grinned as he took the sleeping Rak back from Gavin and started walking back to his original spot. Rak moved minutely and repositioned itself to fit in the cravice of Muta's arm. It looked like a baby wrapped in it's mother's warmth.

"Now, may the last examinee, Hailey Grayford, please come on stage." The announcer had went away to take a sip of water as the previous Muta had given him too much of a fright that his throat became dry.

"Hailey Grayford..." Muta repeated the name of the young girl as he watched her walk confidently up on stage. The girl was here alone without the support of her parents, which made Muta pity her. Were her parents busy today and could not leave work to watch her Aura examination?

Regardless of her situation, Hailey had arrived at the venue independently and applied for the test. It was quite impressive to Muta, for the registration was all done by his father. He had no idea how these procedures work. I have to learn from Hailey and start to become more independent, thought Muta.

It was also at that moment when Toro, the officer from the guardian sector looked up in shock as the girl strolled over to the orb. Why is the young miss here? Isn't she suppose to be taking the test at home? Unable to contain himself, the man quickly left the stage and bolted off swiftly towards the housing estates in Golgia.

The young girl walked up to the orb as she caressed it gently. At that instant, the once smiling girl switched her persona. The vibe she gave off turned more serious, even though she still portrayed a sense of innocence around her.

It took the time of two breaths before there were changes on the orb. Green threads of lights started spiralling around the girl's arms as if it were trying to encase Hailey in a cocoon of light. The current reaction of the aura was very different from Muta's, but rather, it felt like she was being protected by the powers of nature. "This is… A flawless wind affinity?" The announcer on stage did not really understand what was really happening.

It was the same for everyone around the stage except for Gavin which was staring at the spectacle in front of him. Hailey Grayford, this girl has the inheritance of the wind harpy! I can't believe I am able to witness such a scene in my lifetime! The reason why Gavin knew about the expected presentation of a Harpy inheritor was due to his prestigious position in Cellamis. Back when he was a royal guard of King Chroma, he was given access to all the books the king possessed. Intrigued by mythical creatures, Gavin read up on the different mythical beasts that possess an exceptional affinity with an aura. One example of such beasts is the wind Harpy. The mythical half-bird half-human usually spanned the size of a grown man's hand. They were said to be the embodiment of the storm winds and thus hold absolute power over wind. It can only be spotted after a heavy or strong tempest. Even though the word "spotted" is used, humans tend not to get a chance to witness these playful spirits for they would only reveal themselves to those they felt were worthy of their presence.

Never would I have thought that such a young girl would have the fortuitous chance to befriend a harpy, much less, receive a blessing from it. Gavin thought deeply as the orb started to change colours once again. This time, a soothing ultramarine glow started expanding outwards and the entire square was greatly illuminated like the Northern Lights witnessed in the great towering mountains of Hiloma. The vast expansion of the girl's aura made it obvious that she possessed the flawless water affinity. This time everyone was utterly shocked by the spectacle in front of them. Muta was one of those that had their eyes glued to the terrifying girl on stage. Hailey's hair was floating about naturally as her entire body was covered with a glow of blue. The youth was mesmerised by her sheer talent.

All this took place in a span of a minute and when it was over, the surrounding was still deathly quiet. It was only after the girl had gotten off the stage with a light and carefree smile when the commotions had finally broken through.

"What is up with all the youngsters these days? This is the second flawless elementalist I have witnessed today! Moreover, this girl has two! I am now sure that I will not be able to see such a thing again!"

"This, this, what just happened? I was just about to leave the venue when I saw the bright aura coming out from the orb. At such a young age, the girl had managed to blow my mind. She is definitely going to be as big of a monster as the youth from before!"

"What did I just miss again? Another Flawless aura elementalist you say! Why am I never lucky?!"

Hailey bares no emotions for the scene she had created and instead, she started walking towards Muta with a smile.

"What did you think, Muta? Was I impressive?" The girl approached Muta naturally as if they had known each other since they were born.

"Well, I am definitely speechless now," Regardless, Muta replied back to Hailey as he, himself felt rather familiar with her even though they had only known each other for a few hours. "Anyways, allow me to introduce myself properly, my name is Muta Sterner and I come from a small town of Centriole."

"My name is Hailey Grayford and I will not reveal where I am from for the fun of it." The girl snickered a little as she spoke back to the boy. "Well have you decided what school you are going to? I saw you talking to old Toro back there and so I am guessing you are entering the guardian sector?"

"Oh, Uncle Toro? Yeah, I am most likely entering the guardian sector as of now. How about you?" Judging from the fact that Hailey called Toro old, Muta could tell that she must have come from a prominent background, for normal people would not dare to offend an officer from the guardian sector. In addition, Toro did not approach the young girl after the selection and this supported the boy's reasoning even more.

"Well… Since you are applying there, I decided that I will follow you to the sector then! It would be more fun for me to have a buddy to keep me entertained in there!" Hailey chirped out happily as she grabbed Muta's hand that wasn't holding Rak. "I have to leave now Muta, but be sure to not forget about me! I will see you again soon and may the next time be in Cell Academy! This is a pendant that is extremely important to me. I hope you will keep it safe for me until I see you again."

"I cannot keep such a pendant for you, Hailey!" The girl placed a greenish stone with a tinge of blue embedded within the cracks of the pendant into Muta's hands and immediately sprinted off into the dissipating crowd. The words of Muta were lost in the commotion of the background. Looking down at the beautiful stone, the boy closed his fist and smiled resolutely. Cell Academy, I will make sure to get into that school so that I can meet you once again!

"Hey, love struck boy! Your father here is rather lonely. Would you be so kind as to come back and accompany this sad man?" Gavin teased his son as he watched the pair exchange words intimately. Celia, your boy has finally made a friend after seven years. How great is this?

Muta immediately turned back and dashed towards his father. He grabbed onto Gavin's arm and dragged him into the streets too. "Father! Let's go back to Dragoon, please! I want answers to all my questions!"

"Alright alright. Let us get going." Hearing his son's comments, the man could only follow his orders as he did deprive him of a lot of knowledge on the outside world in these past seven years. Just like this, the pair headed back to the restaurant at top speed.
