Gavin’s and Celia’s Origin

At the Dragoon restaurant, the place was relatively empty. There were a few couples sitting by the window, enjoying their meal as they ate rather slowly. In the background, there sat two individuals. One had a respectable vibe surrounding him, while the other had innocence brimming out of him. The boy with innocence was Muta as he started asking his father solemnly. "Father, I know you have not come clean about where you and mother are really from. I think I deserve every right to know it now."

"Well, I guess I owe you an explanation for that aspect. Additionally, I would like to first apologise to you, Muta. I am sorry for lying to you about our origin as first of all, it was to keep you safe from the outside world. And second, your mother and I actually wanted to live a peaceful life back at Centriole. However, she passed on right after the birth of you. Thus, in the end, the latter was not fulfilled." Gavin explained honestly to his son as he was apologetic for lying to him all these years.

"It's ok father. Let bygones be bygones. I knew deep down that you were always trying your best to fill in the gaps of the family even though mother is no longer in this world. I truly am thankful for whatever you have done for me." Muta went forward to give his father a hug. Afterwards, he got his rightful explanation of his family's origin.

"So, let us start off with my origin before going on to your mother's. I was actually an orphan that was found on the streets of Mitochi. I was raised in an orphanage named, The Giving Tree and was taken care of by Mother Hera. Back then, orphans were not given as many privileges as compared to now. Our orphanage was always short on money and thus, we lived a rather impoverished life. We were always forced to go on the streets to beg for money so as to help raise some funds for the orphanage."

"In addition, when orphans reach the age of seven, we were given the opportunity to take the aura selection test for free. However, it came with a condition. The pay that we would receive every month would be deducted by half for two years and also we were bound to the army for that period. The sectors of the past were not so defined like now and were actually all centred around the central army. It was only when you fulfil a specific condition or have a unique trait, would you be able to leave for a sector company."

"In my case on aura selection day, I found out that I had a dual aura, which exempted me from all the payments and I was given a chance to apply directly into a sector. It was also that day when I met your mother. Although she only had one aura, Celia displayed the most awe-inspiring moment that I had ever seen. The way her aura blasted off into the sky and shown forth the most beautiful radiance was breathtaking. She depicted the image of a great rock golem for which encased her in the centre."

"From that day on, I knew that I wanted to spend my days with her be it as a best friend or as a couple. I wanted to follow her wherever she went." Gavin had his eyes closed as he reminisced over his experience in the past while Muta listened deeply. He was truly shocked at his father's past as he never knew his cheerful father was an orphan. In addition to that, his mother's aura was so powerful that there was no other word to describe it other than dominating.

"Now, your mother's origin was quite different from mine. Unlike me, who does not have a family background, your mother was from a village near the mountains of Hiloma, which was famous for its northern lights. Her village was called Cellulosa, which is now transformed into the headquarters of the Patrol sector. Back then, it was actually a mining town and your mother would frequent the mountains when she was bored. One day when she was six, the young girl climbed too far up and was trapped in a blizzard storm. At that time, your mother's parents thought she was done for good as no one would be able to escape such a strong snowstorm."

"What comes next is the interesting part of the story. Back when she was stuck in the storm, your mother had luckily stumbled into a large ice cavern that protected her from the blizzard. In addition to that, it was on that day when she met, a Golem. This was a mythical earth creature that held the power of vigilance. Its rock solid defence brought fear to those that wanted to hunt it for its rock crystal in its heart. From what your mother told me, she said that she was actually not afraid of it at all, but rather intrigued by this moving rock."

"The golem too was also not frightened by this brave girl and in the end, the two of them became good friends. Celia kept it a secret from the people in the village for she did not want any harm to be brought upon her friend. Thus, every morning, the girl would head to the mountains and would only come back late at night. In the end, Celia had received a gift from the golem, a blessing of the earth aura. This blessing was the reason why she managed to attain such a high affinity for the earth as it was coupled with her own inborn earth aura. Celia told me after she left for her selection test, the golem had also left on its own little adventure, for which the two never got to see each other again. "

Muta was fully occupied by the story that his father told. Never would he have thought that his mother would encounter a golem in her childhood. It was truly awesome! "Then father, what happened to grandfather and grandmother? Where did they go?"

"Oh, those two people? They are still alive and kicking! Maybe too much if I were to say so myself…" Gavin sneered a little when he answered his son.

"Father, why does it sound like you do not really like them very much?" Muta was confused.

"Hmm, for starters, your grandfather and grandmother are both extremely influential personals in the land of Cellamis. In fact, they are both the current chief advisor for the Patrol Sector. Also, the reason why I do not like them very much is due to their disapproval between the marriage of your mother and I. Instead, they wanted Celia to marry the current Crown Prince of this time."

"What? Grandfather and grandmother are the chief advisors for the Patrol Sector? Isn't that position on the same level as the chief commander of every sector?" Muta's eyes widened to the maximum point. Previously, Uncle Russell had given Muta a short introduction on how each sector was divided. The lowest in the sector was the "private" solders. Privates were usually tasked with menial jobs and were required to do work for the Company leaders. A Company leader leads a group of a hundred private soldiers. They report to the Squadron leader who was in charge of 5 company leaders. A typical sector has over one hundred company leaders and thus there were only twenty squadron leaders in each sector. The squadron leaders would then report to the chief commander which was the highest position in every sector. In addition to that, there would be two to three chief advisors that aided the chief commander during his or her work. This meant that Muta's grandparents were very influential people. "Also why would they disapprove of you, father? Aren't you super powerful?"

"Yes, your father is indeed very strong! However, the one I was facing previously was the crown prince of Cellamis, Prince Alexander. The two elderly wanted to curry favour with the king and thus had a plan to give their daughter away. Now, do your grandparents sound like nice people?" Gavin continued to complain to his son.

"No, they do not. How could they use mother as a bargaining chip? This is simply unacceptable! I am very happy with what you did, father. You brought happiness to mother and that is the right thing to do!" Muta nodded in agreement with his father's comments. "Was that why you and mother had left for Centriole? To run away from grandfather and grandmother?"

"Yes that was part of the reason for why we wanted to leave for Centriole," Gavin followed up his answer from just now. "We wanted to settle down somewhere which no one would bother us with duties and responsibilities. It was then when I filed in my resignation letter and returned my badge of the Royal recon team. Your mother, on the other hand, left her position as commanding officer of the Patrol Sector quietly. Back then, she had the nickname of the Fortress which was actually true since there was never once when the demonic beasts outside of Cellamis had broken through her terrifying defence!"

"Woah! Mother sure was cool! I wish I could've seen her fight for this land…" Muta sighed a little as he started to miss his mother even more.

"Now now Muta. There is no need to be sad about this. Your mother wanted you to grow up to be a happy and filial son. You have definitely done a good job in that aspect and I hope you will continue to do so in the future," Gavin took a sip of water to quench his thirst from talking so much. "Now, You can carry on asking me questions. I am sure you have more."
