3. Welcome

[...]

The system was also thinking that if it had emotions it would beat the shit out of this idiot… luckily for Tian Ye, it did not.

"Ok, since we have confirmed that you are not fake goods can you explain to me what exactly am I supposed to do here?" Tian Ye asked. Now that he was transported here he had really no idea what he was supposed to do.

[You seem awfully calm about all of this.]

The system did not answer directly but stated this instead.

"Well… there wasn't really anything that kept me back in Earth. My family is gone, I don't have a wife or even a girlfriend for that matter. I didn't have many friends but they were just superficial, why wouldn't I be calm, I quite enjoy this in fact." Tian Ye stated, while he said all of it, it seemed like he was talking about something that had nothing to do with him.

[Well now that you have me, there will be a goal, you want to do whatever you want?]

The system asked.

"Who doesn't?" Tian Ye asked back in an irritated tone, why are you asking such stupid questions?

[But you can't do that without something. You know what that something is?]

The system asked again, trying to get at something.

"...Power." Tian Ye answered emotionlessly.

[That's right, power. You know more than everyone else that power is needed.]

Tian Ye indeed knew this, during his time in the game there were many instances where people who minded their own business got targeted and killed, but ultimately nobody cared. He had been in many of those instances. Only those with power could talk.

[So that is your goal, to live freely, doing whatever you want, but you need the power to do that, but on the road to power, it does not always need to be one of strain. Based on your personality you will definitely enjoy yourself.]

"Hehe… System you know me so well." Tian Ye laughed at what the system said.

[Since we have confirmed what to do let me explain your situation since you enjoy this game ORIGIN so much I have transferred you into the game permanently.]

"I'm going to be stuck in here forever?!" Tian Ye exclaimed, while he enjoyed the game most, he still wanted some things back in the real world, like those sessions of relief. (Wink, Wink)

[Unless you have enough power, yes.]

"..." Power again… Well, at least there was a chance that he could still get out.

[This is still a game world so of course there will be players, you have been transported back in time, 1 year before the game is launched. This is a massive opportunity, only idiots would not know what it means.]

"You calling me an idiot?!" Tian Ye reported.

[If you think so, yes, if not, no.]

"I'll get you one day…" Tian Ye said disappointedly.

[Yes, yes you will, just not in any days I know.]

"..." Tian Ye felt like he had met his match.

[Do you see what your class is?]

"Oh… yeah, why am I an NPC?" Tian Ye was confused, how was an NPC a class? And how was it that he was one?

[Due to my sending you into the game world permanently, the game has set your class to an NPC, there are only two kinds of things that this world accepts, people from this world are called NPCs and people not from this world are called players, since I have made your soul fully intertwined with this world you are registered as an NPC.]

"Sure… is being an NPC overpowered?"

[That depends. If you are a player, yes, if you are another NPC, no. There are only a few advantages to being an NPC, like other NPCs, you can give out quests and rewards to players to make them do your bidding, but other NPCs also have that power. The other advantage is that you have me, a system, one that is not to be compared with that lousy piece of shit that is in this game.]

"Damn! Looks like you do have feelings. Well giving out quests does sound overpowered but do the rewards come out of my own pocket?" Tian Ye asked. Quests are a way to control players easily, as long as the rewards are good enough the players will do anything for you and almost never suspect a thing. But if you have to supply the rewards yourself then it gets very hard, you have to take care of yourself and the players at the same time.

[Yes you do, you idiot, did you forget that you have a 1-year head start compared to everyone else?]

Tian Ye blushed in shame, indeed he forgot what the system had said just a little while ago. He would just make use of the head start that the system granted and he would be a god in the eyes of noobies. He got excited just thinking about it. Just as he was daydreaming, the system suddenly reminded him of something.

[Did you forget to check out Quests?]

"Ohh… Forgot about that." Tian Ye got a little too excited about being a year ahead of everyone else and the awesome things sold in the Shop.

Quests:

Welcome (Legendary):

You have been accepted by System N.001. Your first quest is to make yourself a foothold in the world before the players do.

Time Limit: 11 Months, 30 days, 23 Hours, 24 Minutes

Rewards: City Stone, 50,000 gold, Bound weapon of choice.

"Holy Shit! System you are overpowered! That much for just making myself a foothold!?" Tian Ye exclaimed. Those rewards were too awesome! The City Stone could allow you to make a city anywhere you liked and it would entirely belong to you, just the amount of money you would rake in every month would drown people to death but the amount of gold required to build it was also astronomical. 50,000 gold was also very good, nowhere as good as the City Stone as it would require dog shit luck just to get one, for reference 50,000 was about the total amount of gold a first-rate guild would make in the first year so that is like adding an additional year headstart. As for the Bound weapon… that would make even the top players have wet dreams.

To explain the how equipment was ranked, the most common weapon is white ones, they have only the most basic stats. iron is the rank above it, usually with about 25% increase in stats and 1 ability. The one above that is Silver, 50% compared to white and excellent ones had 2 skills while ordinary ones had 1 like Iron. The one above that is Gold, 100% increase in stats compared to white and 2 skills but Gold equips were way rarer than Silver and Iron, If you were to kill a boss, a silver might drop but even if you kill 10 bosses you might not get one gold equip. Dark Gold is above Gold, 150% stats compared to white and 3 skills, also very rare, if you were to kill 25 bosses there is a good chance of one dropping.

The next ranks are the good stuff, ones that guild masters and experts drool for. Epic is the rank above Dark Gold, Epics usually have 250% the stats of gold and 3 skills but those skills cannot be compared to Dark Gold skills. One has to defeat special bosses to have the chance of getting one but there are quests that grant out Epic weapons.

And now the next rank, Legendary, this one is the weirdest one, Legendary items could be godlike or plain trash depending on the situation. Legendary Items have 400% the stats of whites and also 3 skills, godlike or plain trash but anybody would be ecstatic to have one as Legendaries are still very useful in unique cases. To get a Legendary item one needs to be favored by the heavens and then go through hell barefooted and come back unscathed, that is how hard it is.

There is also one rank but it is an anomaly, Bound items, to those who are fated. Bound weapons are almost on the same rank as Legendary but there are some things that only belong to Bound weapons, most important being that it grows with the user indefinitely while other items such as Epic and Legendary ones only grow to a certain limit.

All of these rewards just for making a foothold? Damn.

[This is a unique case as this will be the only quest that rewards this much for doing so little, do not expect to get good things without working for it.]

"Yeah, yeah, I knew that you were not this nice."

[Good that you know.]

The last chapter about talking. Next is about doing something...
