Its dark, why is it dark? Oh yeah, mom told me to hide in the closet after she heard heavy knocking and yelling outside the house.
Like seriously, I'm 19, I don't need to be doing this, but I sensed the fear and urgency in my mom's voice and my dad's eyes. So i decided to obey.
"Zain sweety, go upstairs and hide in the closet. Don't come out until I or dad say so, OK?"
I did as she said, I went upstairs and hid in my closet. It was clustered and tight because of the excessive amounts of clothes I put there. Some were casual clothes and some were.....cosplay outfits. Yup, I'm an Otaku.
I hear the front door open and a heavy footstep marching into the house. What the?? I then hear yelling, probably an argument. I focus to listen to what they're saying, i hear every single thing. I'm not superhuman but i really wish i was though, they just happen to be yelling really loud.
"Where is it?!!! Huh?!!! WHERE IS THE FUCKING CRYSTAL?!!!!"
He used the F word, dad hates the F word
"Hang on Bill, Calm down!"
Dad is yelling too and mom is sobbing, what's going on? What crystal is the stranger yelling about?
"I've waited long enough! I told you from the start, the Mafia always gets what is due it and eliminates those that do otherwise"
I hear a clicking sound
"Bill, please! Put down that gun"
A gun? A GUN?!! This is getting scary, why does he have gun on him. Please be safe, dad.
"I mean c'mon men, we are best buddies! I have a way for us all to leave and the Mafia will never find us"
Leave? Oh! I remember now, that's what mom and dad were talking about yesterday. But I heard something about magic too.
"James, there is no possible place in this world that we can run to that the Mafia won't eventually find"

*Crystal?* I reach up and grab the glowing piece of glass hanging of a chain on my neck. Dad gave me this yesterday. Its warm, like a light bulb.
I then hear the mumbling of an angry man and footsteps, its like he's just pacing around in circles. This "power crystal" thingy seems to be really important to get this guy worked up.
"That's why the Mafia are after you, you stole it from them"
Woah, they're that important??
"It is mine, Bill. I discovered it and they stole it from me. That crystal, it is the key, with it we can leave this world and vanish from the Mafia's grasp"
There is a slight space of silence
"I'm sorry James, but this is what its gotta be. I'm not falling for your insanity"
*CRACK*
Is that? H.... He...... He cocked the gun, does he really want to.....
"I'm sorry James, I really wish things could be different"
"Bill no, please, we can...."
BANG!!!
I heard dad grunt, and mom scream
BANG!!! BANG!!! BANG!!! BANG!!!
THUD!
"JAMES!!!!!!!! NOOOOO!!!! BILL WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!!!!!"
I hear mom scream frantically now, she's crying, why is mom crying? The bad guy only shot blanks at dad right? They're just acting to make me scared right?
I then hear Bill say something that rattled me to my very core
"I'm sorry Leila but we can't have anyone snitching to the cops now can we?"
I've played enough games to know that he wants to silence my mom... Like he wants to kill her
Mom runs, it sounds like she's coming upstairs and the man runs after her screaming, "Get back here!"
She runs into my room, and slams the door behind her
*Click*
She locks the door and the man is struggling outside, he's continuously yelling, "Open up!!! Leila??! Leila!!! You're making this harder than it has to be"
Mom opens the closet and pulls me out, she runs to the HRVWS (Hyper-Real Virtual World Simulator) console and turns it on along with the TV.
The banging on the door has intensified. Damn, the door won't hold him out for much longer.
Mom runs up to me, raises my right index finger and slightly pricks it with a needle. She then takes the crystal and smears it in my blood and it begins to glow brighter as the blood on its surface is sucked in, then a surge of electricity shot out of the crystal to the TV behind me. Wait.... Where did she get that needle from???
She then looks into my eyes. I look back into hers and see the tears rolling out as she smiles at me and says
"You have to survive. I'm gonna send you away using the crystal, I don't know where the crystal will take you to, but I really hope it takes you to a life better than the one you've lived here"
I looked behind me and my usual 72-inch flat screen TV, turned into a medieval looking mirror with swirling circles within it
My mom then hugs me and kisses my forehead
"I love you sweety, I always have loved you and i always will"
The door then breaks down and Bill is breathing heavily. He aims the gun at me and shoots, I close my eyes waiting for the impact but I don't feel anything.
I open my eyes and see the hovering figure of my mom standing before me. She.... She use her body as a shield, she protected me. M... Mom...
She then pushes me. I fell through the mirror, I can see its frames as I fall through it. Bill walks up to my mom as she smiles at me, he puts the gun to her head. No! Noo!! NOOO!!!
"Oh my sweet baby, I love you"
"MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
BANG!!!!!
I blackout immediately he pulls the trigger.
