Chapter seven NOT A MIRACLE

It was a nice fine morning but for the Aerial squad their day could go worse after Erix and Eiel fought and destroyed things but instead of stopping them, Kalel was cheering for them. Viktoria tried to stop them but got pushed away while Liezel was doing push-ups. The newcomers only stood there watching the seniors acting like kids. The sounds of galloping horses stopped them. Ranga and Ryleigh took a peek at the window and saw two persons but couldn't identify who they are since the two wears hooded capes. The seniors burst outside and lined up and the duo followed them. They saluted and exclaimed in unison, "Welcome back, Major! ". The smaller person removed the cape revealing a familiar face. 'Major Parrish! What is she doing here', Ranga said in his mind. Parrish then looked at him, "I'm here because this is my squad". She glanced at the two newcomers and then stood in front of them, "You two are the new members, I suppose", she said while eyeing at the duo. They saluted again, "Yes,si- ma'am!", Ranga exclaimed. He was about to introduce himself but Parrish stopped him, "No need for introductions, I already know your names", she told them while heading inside. Ranga and Ryleigh gulped remembering that the inside was a mess. They eyed the major to see her reaction but she just walked off saying nothing so they quickly went inside to see that the mess was gone and it's fricking clean again. "H-how did it got clean when it was a total mess a while ago? ", the bothered Ryleigh said. Viktoria smiled at them and whispered something, "When the major was talking to you, the captains went inside and cleaned the mess they made". The duo was in awe admiring their smart seniors. Ranga then remembered the other caped person and asked Liezel who it was. She narrowed her eyes, "My rival..",she hissed with jealousy and anger mixed in her voice. He decided to approach the person and greeted him. The person chuckled and removed his hood, "I'm glad to see you're fine, Ranga", he said revealing the person that made Ranga jump out. He thought he was dead. He saw it with his own eyes how the beast killed him. The dead friend of him who got devoured by the monster was infront of him, alive and okay. "Conrad!", Ranga exclaimed, "But how?! I saw you die and got eaten by the beast", he said in disbelief. Conrad patted his friend's shoulder, "I thought I was dead too, Ranga but someone saved me. Major Parrish got me out of the beast's stomach and I was healed by a mage doctor. I wanted to come see you and the others but she didn't like the idea of me walking around while wounded that's why I couldn't visit you and say that I'm alive and breathing. She then told me to join the squad as her assistant...well I owe her my life so I joined her to pay my debts". Ranga smiled, "Thank goodness you're okay. After the incident, I felt guilt and was ashamed of myself that I couldn't even give you a proper burial because your body can't be found". Conrad grinned widely and pointed himself, "Well it can't be helped. This guy's Conrad Marshall, a former bandit with bandit friends and had followed the great leader, Ranga Valhalla! ". The two united friends laughed and Ryleigh started screaming at the top of his lungs, "CONRAD! ". Conrad also explained to Ryleigh what happened and he was grateful. The trio went inside the cabin after Viktoria called them saying that the major has an announcement to say. They all gathered in the dining room and waited for the major the speak. "Prepare for battle tomorrow... check your equipments if it's working effectively and load your weapons. Sleep early to avoid drowsiness when in the battlefield. The meeting's over, go now and do your work. I'm outside if you ever needed me. I'm going to feed Patrashe and Charlotte". Ryleigh got curious, "Patrashe? Charlotte?". Conrad glanced at him and whispered, " Her horses, you damn dendrophile. Who else could it be". Ryleigh glared at him, "You really should have died". Conrad just continued to mock him while Ranga is testing their equipments. The sun had set and they were all done with their work. It was the trio's schedule to cook. "Oi... I can't cook. What should I do?", Ryleigh murmured to his friends while heading to the kitchen. "Not to worry. We'll teach you how", Ranga said. Ryleigh sighed, "Boooring". " Tch, the major does't like lazy people you dendrophile. If you want her to fall in love with you,then impress her with your cooking", Conrad muttered. Ryleigh rushed towards the kitchen determined to learn cooking. "You don't have to lie, Conrad. Ryleigh will come crying to us embarrassed later", Ranga said to his bully friend. "I'm not lying. The thing is, I time when I was cooking,she came in the kitchen and said she was impressed by my cooking skills", Conrad said, "She's not bad as I think. Perhaps I might choose her". "Choose her for what? "."To be my bride NYAHAHA"."That's not funny. We'll see if you try. Don't come crying to me when you got rejected". The duo headed to the kitchen and cooked dinner while teaching Ryleigh some basic recipes. After a while, the whole squad including the major sat down on the dining hall for dinner. They were about to eat when a bird flew inside and landed on Eiel's shoulders. "It was a messenger bird", Eiel told the major and grabbed the letter in the bird's legs. He gave it to Parrish and the major red the contents of the letter. She stood up and grabbed the cape she was wearing when she came. "My presence is needed in the military HQ. Marshall, let us go and you all continue to eat. I'll just meet you at there tomorrow.", she said signaling Conrad to get the horses ready. After that, they immediately left. Liezel punched the wall creating a crack while the others clenched their fists that made the two newcomers confused. "Day by day, they always call her. She just arrived yesterday and now they're needing her again. Those bastards! Just because they're high ranked doesn't mean that they must always use her. She didn't even rest for a bit because she was finishing some report papers last night!", Liezel said angrily then left the hall. The others proceed to eat while Ranga seemed to lost his appetite so he went to his bunker and layed down. 'It was just like last time from the mansion. Are the other majors experience that or is it just her? I better ask Conrad when I meet him again', Ranga thought. The next day, they were all prepared and flew to the HQ using their gears. The Aerial squad major with her assistant stood outside waiting for the others. "Glad you came early", Parrish said checking the time on the clock in front of the HQ. The whole squad saluted and waited for her instructions. "Our mission for today is to destroy the new base of our enemies,you understood", she commanded. They saluted once again, "Yes ma'am!", they said in unison. The major confronted the Frontliner squad major beside her, "Operation: Destroy enemy base has now started..."
