Chapter eight UNEXPECTED EVENT

The Aerial squad took off and the Frontliner squad went to guard the border incase some enemies attack them. They went flying around the clouds to avoid being seen by their foes. The squad headed straight towards the enemy base and redied their guns. "Surround the area and destroy the tanks first. Eiel and Erix,come with me...", the major commanded heading to the main base. Ranga and Kalel went to the left part of the base leaded by Liezel while Viktoria leaded Ryleigh and Conrad to the right side. The battle has begun and the they fired their guns destroying every tank and truck. Enemy soldiers came and started shooting at the Aerial members in the right base. Conrad and Viktoria aimed at them while Ryleigh froze. "Oi! Move your ass and fire your gun! ", Conrad yelled at Ryleigh. He noticed that his friend's hand are trembling. "Are we suppose to kill them? ", he asked. "Hell yeah! We are military soldiers now. This is what we do you son of a tree! ", Conrad said while shooting some of the enemies. "So what! You've cut limbs of a beast before. What's the difference of killing human, you coward! ",Conrad said tired of Ryleigh's complain. "B-but they're humans", Ryleigh said lowering his gun. Viktoria looked at him with pity,"They may be humans just like us but they're also beasts on the inside. If you can't kill them then they'll kill you. In a battlefield, you musn't take pity of your enemies", she said comforting the terrified boy. Ryleigh was about to thank her when she suddenly got shot. "Viktoria!", Ryleigh screamed while grabbing the falling comrade. Conrad got angry and fired his gun at the shooter. "Ryleigh! Use that frickin' gun of yours and shoot those bastards, I'm running out of amo!", Conrad said while grabbing Viktoria's gun, "Lemme borrow these. Just stay behind us,you've been shot". Viktoria nodded and went behind the boys. Ryleigh was still fidgeting, thinking about firing the gun or not. "Shoot them now you damn dendrophile!", Conrad said wanting to punch his friend's face. "Come on! I can't keep on shooting!". Still not moving. Conrad pinched his nose, "Do you want us to die here!?". Ryleigh screamed loudly that hurt the Akatsuki's ears. "Shut up you damn shitface! I can't just die here without confessing my love to the major!", Ryleigh yelled and started shooting at the remaining soldiers. "That's the spirit dendrophile!", Conrad exclaimed proudly. "Stop calling me that!", Ryleigh said in an angry tone. Viktoria look at Conrad in confusion, "Um, what's a dendrophile?". Conrad killed the last soldier before glancing at his senior, "A person who loves trees", he said answering the confused girl. "Why are you calling him a dendrophile?", Viktoria asked once again. Conrad tried to hold his laugh from bursting, "We don't talk about that!", Ryleigh yelled in an angry tone. Meanwhile at the left base, the other members are busy destroying the tents and killing the enemies who interferes. "Greetings from hell! We are the soldiers from the Ephitalia kingdom here to eliminate you all! ", Kalel said with a sarcastic smile. "Is he always like that? ", Ranga asked. "Keh! What do you expect from a sadist. ", Liezel replied. Ranga sweatdropped at Kalel who was laughing while shooting his opponents. Liezel fired a flare gun signalling that the left base is cleared followed by a Viktoria who also signalled that the right base was cleared. They met each other and waited for their major and the two captains. A few minutes later, the main base exploded but the Parrish and the others didn't came out. "Something is wrong", Liezel said looking at the main base. Later then, the captains came and Erix was carrying the major on his arms. "What happened!?", Liezel exclaimed as she saw the unconscious major. "She had been shot", Eiel said. "But the major is immune to bullets! She can heal instantly when being shot! ", Viktoria said while bandaging her right arm that has been shot. "That is what we thought so we didn't pay attention when someone shot her. After planting the bomb, we headed to the door but she fainted. I used a barrier to protect us from the explosion. We must go and take her to Major Sorano, she knows what to do", Eiel said and they took off. Liezel and Eiel took their major to Sorano while the others headed to the HQ to report. "What happened to her? ", Sorano said after seeing the unconcious girl in Liezel's arms. "We don't know. She has been shot and fainted. Major Parrish was supposed to be immune at bullets but...", Liezel said glancing at Parrish. "Don't worry. I'll take good care of here. Go back to the HQ and file your report", Sorano commanded making them leave. Sorano called out her two assistants,"Ran! Sistine! Get me the medical tools". The two were shocked to see their hero in such condition and prepared a bed for Parrish. They waited outside during the the operation to remove the bullet on her abdomen. After an hour, Sorano came out with a letter. "Send this letter to the commander. He needs to come here", she said handling the letter to Sistine while Ran prepared a horse for her leave. After the girl left, Ran and Sorano went back to where Parrish is. "What happened, master? Is it serious? ", Ran asked worried about his saviour. Sorano clenched her fist, "Yes...very serious"."Will she be fine? She's going to live right?"."It depends on her if she has the willpower to survive. I can't guarantee her safety...". Sistine arrived at the HQ and hurried to Commanded Gilbert's office. "Sistine!", Ranga called her as they bump at each other. "Big brother Ranga, it's nice to see you again", she greeted and then jumped out after seeing the boy behind him, "Big bro! Conrad's ghost is behind you! I'm not joking I swear!". Conrad laughed at his friend,"Keh! You thought I was dead too...what a drag. You must be thankful I'm alive but it's a long story why I'm still breathing". Sistine then remembered why she was sent there and asked them the whereabouts of the commander. "He's not here. I heard that they had a meeting in the castle. Is something wrong?", Ranga asked. "I need to give this letter to him. I think it's important", she answered handing the letter to Ranga. "Don't worry...I'll give it to him"."But this is urgent. I think it's about Major Parrish". Conrad narrowed his eyes while Ranga continued to listen to the girl. "The Major's condition must be in critical situation. She was operated by our major and didn't let us help her". Colonel Eilhard appeared of out nowhere and asked what is a medic soldier doing there. Sistine told him about the major and he widened his eyes. "My my! It really is an emergency. Stay here for a while and I'll try to contact Gilbert", he said concerned. "But how? The castle is in the capital and it will take at least seven days to get there using a horse", Ranga said. "No need for that, kid. That's why we have mages", he said leaving them. The trio sat on the bench outside the HQ waiting for the colonel's return. Sistine was watching the sunset fall and noticed something that's coming towards them. "Big brothers! Look at that", she said while pointing at the mysterious figure. "Is that a- THAT'S A LARGE FRICKIN' PHOENIX! ", Conrad said looking at the flying bird. It landed in front of them and suddenly transformed into a man. "Ehh! The phoenix became commander Gilbert!"
