Chapter Three: 6 Months Ago.

Rain dripping, rolling down black umbrellas, people dressed in black standing round a hole in the ground, right in front of it a headstone, written on it:

Here lies Bill Evans

Taken too soon

2001-2017

On the side of the hole, a large framed picture of a dark-haired smiling boy, Bill Evans. The joy of Bill in the picture only seems to increase the sadness in the air. Tears roll down Mrs. Evan's cheek as she gave at her happy boy's face, seeing him smile only seems to break her more, Mr. Evans embraces her, she confines in him, letting all the tears she held back roll.

"So from dust did we come and to dust shall we return. We shall give the family a final time before we continue" said the pastor standing in front of the hole.

Mr. Evans walks with her still faced into his shoulder crying, to and elevation where an open coffin was kept, in front of the coffin another picture of Bill still happy, as he always was. He looks into the coffin, to his son's face one last time, looks at his white skin, the red blush on his cheek and the smile he still had on his face, Bill looks indistinguishable from when alive. His skin remained at white as it always was, no paleness on his body. Then dad closes the coffin, walking back to his position, letting a man to the coffin, he put loops of rope around the coffin and pulls on an extension of the rope, Lifting it as another man directs it to the hole to be lowered.

Mrs. Evans leaves the embrace of her husband, wipes the tears off her eyes and walks to the pile of dirt on the other side of the hole, she grabs some dirt and holds it over Bill's coffin trying her best too let it go, tears drop from her eyes unto the coffin, as she finally comes to terms with this a loud noise comes from the back, it is so loud it changes the atmosphere of the environment. She rushes back going through the crowd to see what would dare ruin a funeral.

John and Chris come running, splashing in the mud, and screaming.

"Stop the funeral," Said them both running and panting as the stop at the crowd of people now facing them confused and disturbed.

"Stop it.....Stop," said John trying to catch his breath.

Mrs. Evans comes through the crowd, to see the spectacle created by Chris and John. "What is wrong with you...I thought he was your friend and now, you can't let him rest?" she said in disgust.

Trying to ignore the heart-piercing accusation Mom made. "You can't bury him," said John loud so all could hear him. He looks around at all the staring faces. "You can't."

"What is wrong with all of you...First, you got him there now you won't let us bury him" asked Mrs. Evans.

Those words reopen the wounds John fought so hard to hide, he steps back not wanting to say anything.

"I'm sorry madame, but you can't go on with this," Chris said calmly.

She looks at both of them, mixed; angry, disgusted, and confused.

Two more people join both of them from the back, Olivia and Bridget.

"Olivia? You are with them? With this?" asked Mrs. Evans, feeling more anger and disappointment.

"I'm sorry mom, but I can't let you bury my brother," Olivia said with strength and determination.

Mrs. Evans walks to her and slaps her, spitting on her face. "You won't take my son," she said looking at them all with spite in her eyes. She goes for another slap but was stopped by Mr. Evans, holding her and drawing her back.

"We do not need their permission to bury our son...Let's go," he whispered in her ears. They turn to the crowd leaving.

"You will kill him if you do," said Bridget.

Those words grad their attention, they pause.

"Your son isn't dead," she continued.

Wait, lets pause for a bit. I'm sure you are wondering how it went from superpowered wonderland to a funeral. Well, its a long story and I'm the owner won't mind if I continue without him. Here it goes.

February 12th, 2017. 8:00 am

The wheels of the stretcher. wobbling as it is been rushed through the hospital halls with Bill on it, Mrs. Evans is following the stretcher from the back shouting for a doctor, the nurses surrounding and pushing the stretcher increases as they switch and call for a doctor immediately, they enter a hall and one of the nurses stays back to stop her from going any further. She walks with her back to the waiting room, where Mrs. Evans waited sat waiting for hours.

11: 52 am

A doctor walks into the waiting room, Mrs. Evans jumps at him.

"Doctor, how is my son?... Tell me. How is my son?" She asks insistent and concerned.

"Are you Mrs. Evans?"

"Yes...How is he"

"Please come with me." He said, taking her to his office. He closes the door behind him and takes his seat. "Mrs. Evans. Your son is...Well, let me show you," he pulls a file from his cupboard and places it on his desk. "These are your son's medical report, I have been running through them for hours and-"

"Doctor is there anything wrong with my son?"

"No."

"Then why is he?"

"Your son's medical reports show that he is fine."

"Then coma?"

"No. You see in a coma his brain activity will be minimal, but for your son, his brain activities are off the charts. I see no reason why he shouldn't be conscious."

"So when should he be back,"

"We don't don't know that for sure but we will be checking for any changes but until then I'll advise you to go home, and rest."

She couldn't leave, at least not without assuring her, her son's health.

"But, doctor is he going to be okay?"

"From the reports yes...Yes he will be okay just need to monitor him for a while"

Her son was okay that was all she needed to know."Thank you, I'll be on my way, please, Call if any changes in his condition." She gets up and leaves.

4:30 pm

Chris and John are walking down the street to Bill's house.

"I'm pretty sure there is a reasonable explanation for him missing school," said Chris scared and uncertain.

"Just keep on saying it till you believe it. I'm telling you it was the voodoo lady she did something."

"Come on you can't be so sure...Pff, how do you even know she's even magical."

"Do deep wound just disappear like that?"

"I'm sure there is a logical explanation." He said this time trying to keep himself from freaking out.

"I wonder what happened to him. Did he die? or turned to frog? or -". Chris looks at him annoyed. "What? Just saying what we are thinking."

"No, you're saying what we are not to be thinking."

"But you are thinking it."

"Just, stop talking and let me not think of how we may have killed our friend on his birthday," Said Chris eggy.

They reach the door and push the doorbell, the door opens revealing Mrs. Evans who looks displeased.

"Excuse me, madam, we didn't see Bill at school today, so we thought maybe we should check-in if he's okay," said Chris.

"Well, that very thoughtful of you but Bill is fine just thought he shouldn't go to school today."

"Okay, so can we see him," said Chris glad that nothing was wrong.

"Oh no, Bill is not at home right now, he left just a while ago," replied Mrs. Evans.

"Well, we'll be on our way now, please tell Bill when he gets home that we stopped by," he asked.

"Sure, when he gets back I'll do well to tell him" she goes in and shuts the door.

They leave now heading home.

"I'm pretty sure that somethings up," said John.

"You don't know that."

"Well I don't but those excuses are lame. Like, they wanted him to stay home...They didn't let him stay home, even when he had the flu and was going to spread it to all of us."

"you're right, but maybe they did."

"Well I don't know about you but Bill won't go anywhere without texting me where. He doesn't have any other friends apart from us."

"Well, for all we know all this is true," Chris said in doubt.

They reach the crossroad and stops.

"I'll take it for today but if he doesn't show up tomorrow I'm investigating this." said john.

"Well, call me before you go do something stupid."

They both go in opposite directions.
