King of The Dead

I used to think that death was in the end. I was wrong. Death is not the end, just another beginning. Reborn in a strange and familiar world, Adrian Klein should have been dead, his body rotting, but he has found himself in a completely new existence. Now as a god instead of a human, he must find his new place in the world. ~~~ I do not own the image. If you are the one who owns it, please tell me and I will take it down. This story is a fuse fic of the god of war saga plus overall Greek mythology with the world of DC, particularly its more mythological and divine parts. I own neither of them. The only thing I own is my OCs.

King of The Underworld (II)

The Cyclops and The Hekatonchires worked hard for what seemed like years but they never complained, for they wanted the home of their savior to be grand and perfect.

Following the specifications of Hades, they started first building what would be inner parts of the palace, they constructed a foundation utilizing pure Stygian Iron, melted perfectly by their immense forges, then they started building the structure.

Walls and ceilings made of Celestial Gold, halls shaped from the purest of silver, thousands of rooms were made, some like the massive arena they could understand, alongside what would their forge complex where they would create many different types of objects using an underground stream of the Phlegethon. Heck, they could understand even the giant library.

But they were many other rooms that were built to be empty, seemingly reserved for something, though they didn't know why. After finishing these, they moved towards the making of the throne room, their lord watching them all the while, they made a grand chamber using silver, iron, and the common stone, numerous pillars were present, besides the throne room were two stairs that led to their lords' private chambers.

Behind the throne was an object roughly shaped like a mask, lava flowed from it and into designed ducts, creating a stream of lava.

Leading towards the throne room was an immense gate made Onyx, the mineral was extremely hard to be properly smelted and be made of use without any failure.

[A/N: Looks like this]

Then they started building the outer area, around the gigantic palace arose an equally gigantic wall, more than two kilometers long and one kilometer wide, there were four gates each for one cardinal direction.

After that, they were said to build something else, homes, many homes, so many that they lost count of how many they built.

This multitude of houses circulated the Golden Palace of Hades, walls were built to circulate the immense city through were smaller than the ones of the palace by a few meters.

With all of this, if they didn't know any better, it truly felt like their lord was preparing for war. But even with that, they made sure that each little detail of both the Palace and the city could be substituted and be made better as no fortress was perfect. And could constantly improve it.

As the Cyclops created his home so did he create something else, Hades knew that the souls couldn't be allowed to stay where they were for the rest of eternity, so he started creating different regions for each type of soul.

The first to be created, or rather rearranged, was Tartarus, the place where all mortals that have committed enough sin would go, it stayed largely the same with flowing rivers of lava and obscured areas that were drained of all light.

He simply created a place named the Fields of Punishment, each soul that walked in here would be divided by their acts in life and sent towards a fitting punishment.

The second to be created was the Elysian Fields, where only the virtuous and the good were allowed to enter, here they were immense forests and flower gardens that were infinite, in here those that entered would never again know any type of suffering. Deeper in it was the Isle of The Blessed something he half-remembered from his lessons from when he was human.

To enter the Isles one has to either reincarnate three times and achieve Elysium in each reincarnation, or be pure of soul, which is as hard as it sounds.

The Third to be created where the Asphodel Meadows, the purgatory to the souls that didn't commit enough evil to be sent to Tartarus but also not enough good to be sent to Elysium.

Souls sent here would wander the endless rows of Asphodel flowers they would then live a life in here, but only after they drank from the River Lethe, which will erase any memory of the life they once had.

Hades had plans for them, in the case that everything would go wrong, they were his secret failsafe.

He of course didn't stop there, in the sky of the Underworld he created both a red sun and a purple moon, they would circulate the Underworld making a night and day cycle, he had also created miniature stars and spread them across the sky, the night sky would be dotted by millions of stars.

But Hades knew that accounting and then sending all of the souls of the Underworld to their right location would take forever, so he decided to do two things, first, he created a race by using the cthonic and etheric energies present in the Underworld, he had shaped both their bodies and their essence.

He gave a name to the new race, 'Daemons', after the spirits of Greek Mythology that inhabited both the Underworld and the Mortal world. They were all preternatural beautiful, and if not their horns and wings they could pass for extremely beautiful mortals.

[A/N: What an average daemon looks like]

For now, he simply had created 5 Clans of Daemons, each one specialized in their power: Fotismos could generate powerful bursts of lighting, Nero could control the earth, Thumos had immense resistance and strength when compared with a normal Daemon, Illios could manipulate the light of stars, and finally Fotia could manipulate both heat and fire to an extreme degree.

He divided their levels of power by giving each stronger one a new pair of wings, those of two to four wings were low class in power and the servants and those with six to eight wings were their leaders. He wanted to create more but each of his attempts did not turn out very well, he will need a bit more knowledge on the matter of essence before he can continue.

He also embedded their essence in the Underworld, if their physical form was destroyed they would simply reform in his domain, depending on the situation of their 'death' it may take a long or very little time.

He assigned then to each of parts of his domain; Fotismos would remain in the palace to serve as the defenders in case it was invaded, Nero was assigned to the Asphodel Fields to shepherd the neutral souls, Thumos to Tartarus for they would be torturers of the damned, Illios was assigned with the protection of gates of Elysium for no impure soul can be allowed to enter that paradise, and finally, Fotia was assigned to the protection of a very special project.

Each one of them of the clans had a section of the immense area he ordered to be made for them by the Cyclops and the Hekatochires.

The second thing he did was to create a method to rapidly judge souls, this method was to create a balance, two brazers held eternally burning flames, one of the flames was completely black, it represented all of the evil acts that soul committed in its life. On the other brazer was a beautiful white flame it represent all the acts of good one did in their life.

The system was simple if the black flame burned more than the white flame then the soul would be sent to Tartarus, if the white flame burned more then the soul would be sent to Elysium if the two flames were equal then they would be sent towards Asphodel. The one that would guard it would be the Fotia daemon clan.

Of course, it couldn't be placed in the simple rock so he had the Cyclops build a 'hall of judgment' where the Balance was kept, which he had to admit was based on the one of Undertale where the player faced off against Sans.

[A/N: For those that do not want to look it up]

And so it was after who know many years he was finished, sure he could make more but he didn't seem the need now, maybe he will do so later but now, at least he had one last thing to do.

Creating a civilization means that he will need to do many things, laws, and all of that, but a civilization also needs the currency and so he created one. Stygian Coins, little silver coins encrusted with emeralds and rubies, carried the essence of the Underworld and besides currency, they could be used to make a gate towards the Underworld under the right circumstances.

With all of that done, he eagerly watched as the five clans arose and went directly to his location he had already warned both the Cyclopes and the Hekatonchires that they were not enemies. When they reached him, he didn't particularly expect the sudden fanaticism and whatnot, but it seems that their programming is going well, he made them be his loyal servants and that was forever embedded in their minds.

After that, it was a long follow-up of the making of laws and arranging the sections where the clans would live. The laws were basic: Every soul that has entered Tartarus is never allowed to leave unless ordered by Hades, no thievery is accepted, no forced sexual copulation is accepted, etc.

He wanted to create an orderly civilization and the Daemons would be exactly that, in the case that he died then he would make sure that he would be remembered in some form.

As time goes on, the structure of the underworld is going to change, right now it is fantasy, but it is going to evolve into steampunk, and eventually sci-fi (spaceships and all of that), though it is going take time, there are many things I can cram in here before Hades reaches the modern era.
