Ch-16: Thunderstruck Intervention

So, there I was, running like my life depended on it, heading towards school. But before we dive into the school part, let me spill the beans on what went down after my epic Hollow-slaying debut. Rukia and Ichigo, being their usual selves, didn't exactly throw a parade in my honor. No, no applause, no thanks, just a casual "Who are you?" from Ishida. Seriously, man? We share a classroom, and it's like I'm invisible!

Anyway, back to the grind. Rukia, Ichigo, and Ishida were off to deal with more Hollows, and I was left there, kinda bummed but trying not to let it get to me. Rukia was about to jet off when I mustered the courage to speak up. "Rukia, please take care of my parents," I said, hoping my sincerity would break through.

She looked at me all skeptical, like she was sizing me up. Then, maybe something in my eyes got through to her, or she realized I wasn't just any ordinary dude. She nodded in understanding and vanished, off to do her Shinigami thing.

Now, you might wonder why I didn't go with them to save my parents. After all, they're my parents, and I should be the one protecting them, right? Well, it's a bit complicated. You see, they wouldn't want me involved in such dangerous situations. To them, I'm the most precious person in the world, and the feeling is mutual. I just didn't want to put them in danger.

As Rukia and Ichigo dashed off to face more Hollows, I walked the other way, toward school. It was shaping up to be a seriously crazy day, and I had no idea just how wild things were about to get in this world of spirits and supernatural shenanigans.

So there I was, running like a madman towards the school, and what do I see? A hollow attacking innocent students. This one was using some nasty poison, right? The kind that lets it control people like puppets. Man, these hollows sure have some twisted ways of messing with us humans.

In the middle of all the chaos, I spotted Orihime and Tatsuki, trying to hold their own against the other students who had fallen under the hollow's control. I couldn't just stand there like a wimp, could I? So, summoning my inner hero, I yelled out to those brainwashed students, "Hey, you losers! Fight me instead!"

All of a sudden, every eyeball in the vicinity turned to me. The hollow found my boldness pretty darn amusing and let out an evil laugh. It was like it couldn't wait to show me just how scary its control could be.

"Attack him, everyone!" the hollow commanded, and those once-zombified students started heading my way. I couldn't believe my eyes. Among the mind-controlled students coming at me, I recognized some of them from my own class. What the heck, guys? Just moments ago, you were crying your eyes out when the hollow had you attack Orihime and Tatsuki. And now, you looked like you were having a blast coming after me! It was like remorse had taken a vacation, and they were all too happy to take a swing at me.

I couldn't help but shake my head in disbelief. "Come on, seriously? Can't you at least try to control yourselves?"

With a heavy sigh, I realized that I'd pretty much gotten used to this kind of unfair treatment and indifference from my classmates. So, with newfound determination, I struck my iconic pose and yelled out the next Bakudo on my list, Bakudo #6 Jakuhou.

A sparkly pink gas burst forth from my palm, covering the entire area. My heart was racing with excitement as I read the spell's description, eagerly waiting to see how this new power would shake things up.

It was like my luck had been accumulating just for this very moment, and even I couldn't believe how perfectly the situation was aligning with my newfound kido abilities. As the pink gas began to disperse, the hollow let out a blood-curdling scream. Its control over the students had been shattered, and it was not pleased.

"No, my puppets! What have you done? Die!" The hollow lunged at me, fueled by rage.

Meanwhile, the students were slowly regaining their senses and helping each other to their feet. It was as if nothing had happened. My Kido had worked perfectly, saving their lives. But did they even care? Of course not. Instead, all the boys were now playing the role of gallant gentlemen, assisting the girls like chivalrous knights. Just moments ago, they were attacking each other like mindless zombies. It was all so frustrating.

I couldn't help but scoff at their sudden change in behavior. Once again, I readied myself to confront the annoying hollow. It seemed to have a personal vendetta against me. I took a deep breath and shouted, "Hado #4 Byakurai!"

<System > Hado #4 Byakurai: It is a basic offensive spell which focuses the user's spiritual energy into a concentrated bolt of lightning that can be directed towards a target. When cast, it shoots forth a powerful lightning strike, capable of inflicting substantial damage on the target upon impact.

Lightning shot from my fingertips, striking the hollow and leaving both it and the students in awe. The hollow, unfortunately, hadn't been quick enough to dodge the spell. And as I watched it vanish into nothingness, I made sure to give a smug smile to the boys who had shown such selective chivalry.
