Nicolaus always wished for an adventure and dreamed of being reborn in a different world, of being able to use magic. Now he had it all, but was it too much for him to handle? Let's find out as we follow his path to become the "keeper of mana" - a person who collects, preserves, and spreads the knowledge of magic. Chapter 2: You are a Wizard Klaus!?

AN: Here is the second chapter. I hope you enjoy it. I apologize if the dialogues are a bit off; this is my first time writing this amount of dialogue, and I will strive to improve.

23rd June 1991:

Klaus stood outside his house, his hand extended towards a length of rope that was standing in front of a wooden dummy.

[Now remember, gather your mana, understand what you want to happen, imagine it, and then will that image into the mana you send towards your target.]

After a few seconds, the rope seemed to come to life. It jumped towards the dummy and wrapped itself around it.

"Yes, I did it!" Klaus exclaimed happily.

[Good. Now try adding an unbreakable enchantment to it at the same time.]

Klaus sighed but he put the rope into the same position it was in before and started preparing a spell. First, he had to add his animation enchantment and the unbreakable enchantment.

This is what is known as a spell, multiple or even just one enchantment put together and used to affect something. While there are other kinds of magic that can be used to compose a spell (for example, elemental manipulation), enchantments are added to it most of the time.

Klaus is currently learning how to compose a spell by first using one enchantment and then layering more onto it.

The unbreakable enchantment that he is adding to that animation is a bit misleading. The "unbreakable" part of it is more or less a lie. What it actually does is make something unbreakable by mundane means. There are ways to make something more resistant to magical means of breaking it, but that is too complicated for Klaus at his current level.

Just as Klaus succeeded in creating the spell, Marcus came from the house.

"Young master, there is someone to see you here. Your parents have requested you come inside."

Klaus looked confused, but he still accepted the request. "OK, Marcus. But who is it?"

"A woman. She said she represents a school for the gifted." Klaus looked incredulous after hearing that, but he still moved towards the house.

...

Inside, his parents were sitting and drinking tea with a woman who looked like she was in her 40s. She was wearing a woman's business suit and had on square glasses. Now, no part of this was that weird, except for the letter written on what looked like parchment on the table and the stick she was pointing at the dog that used to be Klaus's favourite chair.

While he looked confused on the outside as he walked into the sitting room, Klaus was screaming on the inside. 'That is a freaking wand, and that looks like a Hogwarts letter. Am I in the Harry Potter universe?'

[Well, yes and no. This universe is similar to what you are familiar with, but it is not exactly the same.]

'Why didn't you tell me this earlier?'

[Because you didn't need to know, and your parents are talking to you. Pay attention.]

"...letter for you."

"Sorry. What did you say? I was... I don't know."

His dad nodded in understanding and said again.

"As I was saying, this is Professor McGonagall from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She brought a letter for you. It is an invitation to go to the school."

At this, Professor McGonagall decided to say something. "Mister Ectorius, did something unusual ever happen around you, for example when you were experiencing intense feelings?"

Klaus nodded at that. "Well, that is what we call accidental magic."

"Magic exists?" Klaus asked with a look of wonder on his face.

But unfortunately for his schemes, his mum decided that that was enough. "You two, stop it now. I am sorry, professor, my husband and son like to pull practical jokes. We are already aware of the existence of magic. My mother was a witch. But she was from the Balkans, so we don't know anything about the British magical community."

McGonagall's eye seemed to twitch, but she kept her voice normal. "Well, I am here to tell you about the existence of magic and of Hogwarts. If you decide to go, there will be an orientation for Muggle-borns on the 30th of this month."

"What happens if I don't go, and what is a Muggle-born? It doesn't sound nice," Klaus asked after McGonagall finished her explanation.

"Well, if you decide not to go to Hogwarts, your memories of magic will be removed." At that, Klaus and his parents looked outraged, but McGonagall ignored them and continued, "A Muggle-born is a magical child born to non-magical parents.

"Now, should I expect you at the orientation?"

Klaus's parents shared a look and then looked at Klaus, who nodded. "Yes, we will be there."

"Good. Keep in mind that while Hogwarts is free, you will need to buy his supplies. Shopping will be right after the orientation. We will send a car to pick you up on the morning of the 30th."

After that, McGonagall said her goodbye and left. After she was gone, Klaus's father said, "Well, that is one intense woman." The rest could only nod in agreement.

...

After his meeting with Professor McGonagall, Klaus returned to his practice, keeping in mind what his assistant said was the best way to become better at magic: 'Practice, practice, and more practice.'

"So, are you going to tell me what is going on with all this? I am going to Hogwarts?"

[I won't tell you all the secrets of this world, but I will answer any questions that will help further your magical studies.]

"I see. So if I ask about magical history and what the magical world is like..."

[You will have to find it by yourself. It's not like it will be that hard; your parents are rich.]

"OK. Let's start with the obvious, wands. What is going on there?"

[You already learned that there are other means to control mana, some without learning how to feel it.]

"Is that all? So I won't need a wand."

[No, that is not all. While that is their primary role, they also focus and amplify mana. But probably most importantly, their role is in transfiguration and conjuration magic. They allow for incredible details in both of those arts. Someone without a wand could never reach the level in those fields that someone with a wand could.

Lastly, they allow easier use of rune magic.]

"So, I will need a wand?"

[Yes. You will have an advantage in that you will have an easier time performing any spell with a wand. Once you feel how wand movements want to move your mana, you will be able to help it move along.]

"What about other magics studied at Hogwarts? Like charms?"

[Charms are premade compositions of enchantments. They are learning enchantment backward from how you learn. They first study premade spells, and in later years, they learn to separate them into different parts and mix them.]

Klaus seemed to be satisfied with all the answers, but he still had one question left.

"Are staffs a thing?"

[Yes, but you don't need one yet.]

...

30 June 1991

On the morning of the orientation day, as the Ectorius family started calling it, Klaus stood in front of the mirror, looking worried.

[What's wrong? You haven't moved for the last 20 minutes.]

"I... I just realized that I am in the Harry Potter universe."

[We established that right after you got your letter.] The voice sounded as worried as a robotic voice could be.

"No! You don't get it! It's 1991! The year when the 'boy who lived' starts Hogwarts. There will be a war again in just a few years."

[Well, yes. So what? Your job is to learn magic, preserve knowledge, and spread it.] After those words, Klaus's eyes widened.

"Spread knowledge!" he exclaimed. "That's it! That is part of the test. You want me to spread knowledge among the children in my year."

The voice didn't answer, but it didn't need to. It was confirmation enough for Klaus. He started making plans for what to do with what he could remember of the Harry Potter stories.

Unfortunately, he could only remember the most important points. It had been a years since he was reincarnated and the last time he was able to read anything related to the Harry Potter universe. But the biggest disappointment came with the realization that he wouldn't be able to prevent the war from happening or Voldemort from getting a body.

He was just too young and powerless. If he told someone about his future knowledge, who knows what would happen to him. He didn't want to end up like his predecessors. So he decided that he would make a group of friends and slowly spread the knowledge he could gather from the Keeper's Library to them.

Just as Klaus was finishing his plans and getting dressed, a maid knocked at his door.

"Yes?"

"Young Master, your parents sent me. Your ride is here."

"I see. I'll be there in a minute."

The maid nodded and left the room, while Klaus hurried to finish getting ready.

...

The ride turned out to be an older model car driven by a half-giant named Rubeus Hagrid.

"Yeh must be Klaus and 'is parents. I'm Rubeus Hagrid, Keeper o' Keys at Hogwarts. I'll be takin' yeh to the Leaky Cauldron."

When they entered the car, it turned out to be much bigger inside than on the outside, so they had a comfortable ride to the pub.

Once they arrived, Klaus had to lead his parents by the hand inside the pub because they kept trying to turn around and leave.

Inside the pub, it didn't look like much, just an old watering hole. The only interesting thing Klaus noticed was the colourful clothes worn by the people inside.

Hagrid led them to a private room where Klaus met one of the protagonists of the Harry Potter books for the first time.
