Kaiser of the New World

After the alarms, sirens and nuclear warnings, Kai wakes up in an empty white room. With no idea what to do, he just waits for anything to happen...hoping something will happen. Only when the voice of...something... breaks him out of the monotonous life of the white room, he realises the problems he will have to face just to survive. Note - First few chapters are slow, monotonous and downright terrible, I mean, just going back and looking at chapter three has me cringing. My writing gets better as the story goes on, but it still has a few info dumps. The first few chapter are the shortest by far, like chapter 30 is the same length as 1, 2 and part of ch 3 combined. Honestly, you can just skim the first five and then maybe read it a little more in depth. Thanks, and please, go easy on the first chapters, I already hate them. Schedule is new chapter every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Maybe first aid?

The blade dug into the ground centimeters under the man's kid maker, nearly giving it an intimate kiss with its sharp edge.

The man, pale as a ghost, let out a scream of horror as the blade brushed against him. His eyes were wide with fear as his head snapped from the blade up to Kai's face.

Even though the man looked as if he were on the brink of passing out a moment ago, the shock of nearly losing his balls promptly woke him up.

If not for the fact that since their arrival in the white room their bladders had been shut down, Kai was certain that the man would have pissed himself.

"Please! Don't do this. Stop! J- Just stop! I'll do anything."

"Shut up."

Kai delivered a swift but lethal kick to the man's stomach. His eyes popped out of his head as a mixture of blood and spit flew out of his open mouth.

Kai then grabbed the man by his hair and slammed his head into the tree. The tree groaned with the impact as the rapist grew limp.

A stream of blood trickled down the grooves in the bark, yet Kai paid it no heed. Slowly, he turned his head to the reason he did all of that in the first place.

The woman was desperately trying to crawl away, but her leg was horribly disfigured and she kept letting out sobs of pain with every movement of her injured self.

Kai only managed to take one step before the woman let out another cry.

"S-Stay back! P...please, don't hurt me!"

Kai stopped mid step. It was obvious that the woman was absolutely terrified. Hell, if Kai was a woman, he would have been terrified to.

Actually, did you even have to be a woman to be terrified in a situation like this?

It was vile what the man tried to do. It was now that Kai was once again realising how lucky he had been with the people he met in his time in the forest.

Even though Noelle was a bit brash and hot-headed, she did save Kai's life on multiple occasions.

Maybe he should apologise...

And even though Sofia seemed to have an unnatural obsession with teasing him, it's not like it did any harm.

Plus, she also saved his life, like Noelle.

Even John was a good person who Kai had gotten to know.

So all he could do was feel sad for the situation the woman crying on the ground before him was in.

She was all alone, Kai wasn't sure where her partner was, but he could guess that they wouldn't have been close.

He didn't even want to think of the possibility that the redneck was her partner...

"Alright, I'll just stand right here. I'll wait."

His voice was soft as he tried to calm the woman. He really didn't understand what the woman was going through, he hadn't been in a situation remotely close to this before after all. So all he could do was be patient and try not to stress her out even more than she already is.

"W... What did you do to him?

Kai glanced at the man, still unmoving and pale. After looking at the sight, he realised why the woman was terrified.

"I didn't kill him, he's just unconscious."

While the thought to just kill the man did appear in Kai's mind, he didn't feel comfortable with just killing someone.

While he had killed a man before, that was when he was in the wrong state of mind and his emotions were being manipulated. Kai didn't count that as killing a man, he just chose to forget it.

Even if the thought appeared in his mind, he wasn't going to go through with it.

No, the man was going to fight tomorrow.

Be it with a broken wrist or broken spine, that man was going to fight the abominations tomorrow. Even though Failure said that they wouldn't force any humans to fight in the war.

But Kai certainly would. That man was scum, scum didn't deserve a choice. The only reason the man was still alive was because Kai wanted to have as many humans and beasts possible survive tomorrow.

Or would it be today given that it was already night?

But if the man happened to die after killing a few abominations, that's all the better.

But that would only be if that's what the woman decided to do.

"What do you want to do with him?" Kai asked he stood still, careful not to spook the terrified lady.

Her eyes widened in shock, surprised that she actually had a say in this. Various emotions flashed in her eyes as Kai watched her expression change. Fear, anger, disgust and countless other emotions were shown in her eyes in the span of a few seconds, yet those few seconds felt like an eternity. A few moments later, it seemed like she made up her mind.

Biting her lower lip, the woman let out a sob and said:

"I- I just want to leave here."

Kai nodded.

"Alright then."

Kai slowly made his way towards the trembling woman. The flinched instinctively, but held her breath and prayed for the best.

Upon closer inspection, Kai saw how bad the damage the stomp caused.

Her right leg was definitely broken. It was bent at a strange angle and the flesh swelled under the bodysuit. Kai couldn't see the colour of the skin under the tight clothing, but he could assume that it was nearly the same colour as the purple bodysuit itself.

With an unsure expression, Kai got to work on trying to relieve the poor woman's pain.

Kai picked up a stick off the ground and crouched down near the lady. While he had absolutely no first aid experience except for one time in school where his whole class took a course for a day, he knew what a splint was.

The only problem was that while he had the stick, there was nothing to wrap around it.

Unsure of whether this would work or not, Kai reached out and grabbed the hem of the right leg of her bodysuit.

The woman panicked, but calmed down once she saw what Kai was doing.

Kai peeled away the fabric of the bodysuit. For some reason, it seemed to peel away easier than Kai expected. The man was having so much trouble with it earlier, so why was it so easy now?

Under the leg of the bodysuit, Kai saw that his assumption was right. The flesh was purple and swelled and looked absolutely atrocious.

Tenderly, Kai slid the stick up beside her leg. Still, even if he did it as softly as he could, the woman still let out a hiss of pain as the hard stick touched her skin.

"Sorry. I don't exactly know what I'm doing. I don't even know if this will work to be honest."

The woman remained silent. Even though her face had regained some colour, Kai could tell she was absolutely terrified after what just occurred.

She had every right to be.

As gently as he could, Kai let go of the leg of her bodysuit. The purple fabric compressed against the stick, holding it in place and creating an inefficient and kind of working splint.

Looking down at her, Kai could tell that there's absolutely no way that she's walking out of here without causing even more damage to her leg. It was a sorry sight.

Fucking pervert.

Cursing that bastard one more time, Kai racked his brain on how to get the woman out of here without injuring her any more.

The situation really wasn't what Kai expected to happen tonight. Honestly, he felt more tired after tonight than after the fight with the Wendigo or the fight against the Depth Dweller. It's just the way things played out.

He wasn't physically tired, an easy fight like that wouldn't be enough to do that. No, he was emotionally drained. He was sick, tired, slightly drunk and just wanted to sleep.

Left with no other choice, Kai inwardly sighed and carefully picked up the woman in his arms.

She let out a sharp, pained gasp as she got picked up, but she had probably realised as well that she wouldn't be able to walk.

It was a fucked up kind of funny how some of the things he and Sofia talked about ended up coming true. Damsels needing his help, rape, massive perverts and the realisation of how the true nature of this place is still fucked up even if it seems all sweet and sugar on the outside.

The woman stayed completely still in his arms, like a broken doll with their strings cut. Kai continued to carry her out of the dwarf forest, careful not to move her too much.

It would have been a strange sight to see from another perspective. A red-haired teenager carrying a stunning woman out of a forest. Anyone who didn't know any better would have assumed something entirely different had happened. Kai didn't even want to imagine what Sofia would say if she saw him right now.

It's only once they made it out of the dark confines of the forest and closer to the centre of The Dome that the woman started to show a hint of emotion on her pale face.

Her lower lip trembled, then her eyes started to glisten, a sniffle escaped from her nostrils.

Then, she started crying. Only now it wasn't tears of fear.

"Thank you... Thank you."

The woman started to sob onto Kai's shoulder. He could feel the snot and tears seeping into his tunic, but he wasn't going to stop the lady.

As previously said, fear was a driving force. The woman would either overcome her fear and reach new heights...

Or be permanently stunted by what she endured today.

Kai hoped it would be the former.

"It's fine."

Kai consoled, but he wasn't sure if he was consoling himself or her. His next few words however, were more so directed at himself.

"It will all be over soon."

I like next chapter, next chapter is good
