Kaiser of the New World

After the alarms, sirens and nuclear warnings, Kai wakes up in an empty white room. With no idea what to do, he just waits for anything to happen...hoping something will happen. Only when the voice of...something... breaks him out of the monotonous life of the white room, he realises the problems he will have to face just to survive. Note - First few chapters are slow, monotonous and downright terrible, I mean, just going back and looking at chapter three has me cringing. My writing gets better as the story goes on, but it still has a few info dumps. The first few chapter are the shortest by far, like chapter 30 is the same length as 1, 2 and part of ch 3 combined. Honestly, you can just skim the first five and then maybe read it a little more in depth. Thanks, and please, go easy on the first chapters, I already hate them. Schedule is new chapter every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Kaiser of Souls

After going through all of the notifications he had received thus far, from items received to the names of the two abominations he had killed to new skills to even a new class and many more, Kai was left with one final notification to read over.

And this one was possibly the most important of them all.

Kai remembered at one point in time where The Ever-changing had explained what having question marks in your bloodline meant. You had to awaken or unlock it by going through something that was related to what your bloodline meant.

Someone, for example, could have a bloodline to do with angels that was hidden behind question marks so they had to do a bunch of good deeds for it to awaken.

Still, that was just an example, and quite frankly, Kai wasn't really sure what to think of his awakened bloodline.

Warning! Awakening bloodline is attempting to devour existing bloodline. User should attempt to resist.

Kai scoffed. What use was the system telling him to resist when he wasn't even awake to hear it? You would think that it would have an auto wake up feature or something.

However, Kai's eyes couldn't help but widen as they followed the trail of notifications down his status.

Bloodline: 97% Human. 3% ???

Bloodline: 95% Human. 5% ???

Bloodline: 89% Human. 11% ???

The number just kept going up without stopping. Was this what was meant to happen when a bloodline awakened? A bloodline that devoured his human bloodline was one that Kai wasn't sure if he should be wary of or not.

Still, it kept going.

And finally, it stopped, just as Kai was getting nervous.

Bloodline: 80% Human. 20% ???

Bloodline has successfully awakened

Congratulations on awakening bloodline

Oh, at least the system was polite enough to congratulate the unconscious Kai for awakening a bloodline that tried to... Well, what did it mean that his second bloodline tried to eat his first? Was it a good or bad thing? Then again, what would happen if his Human bloodline reached zero?

Luckily, Kai wouldn't have to find out today after his new bloodline had gotten full after eating a fifth of Kai's human bloodline.

Bloodline: 80% Human...

20% Kaiser of Souls

...

So that was the secret question mark bloodline that Kai had been oh so curious about for the last two months.

And why the hell did it use Kaiser again? His innate ability had it, his new bloodline had it, at this point, Kai was shocked that one of his skills didn't have it.

He knew from when he would spend his time in computer class googling random words in other languages that kaiser meant emperor in German, so why the hell did it keep calling Kai that?

He was certainly no emperor, the only similarity was that his name was the first three letters of kaiser.

If that was the reason for it, then that had to be the worst backstory of all time.

Forget radioactive spiders, Kai had the first three letters of kaiser, so he automatically became one.

There had to be something else to it though. He had enough knowledge at this point to know that anything from this point on won't be a simple matter. Someone in the past had litteraly known that Kai would show up in the tutorial and fuse with Failure, that still creeped Kai out.

Who the hell could have possibly known that? It was probably, no, definitely a God. Either that or someone that had some insane innate ability that let them see the future.

But then again, how long ago were those murals created?

Ten years? One hundred years? A thousand years? Ten thousand years? A hundred thousand? Kai had no way of actually knowing, but he knew that it wasn't in the millions anyway considering that both Failure and Aldred had described themselves as only 'a couple thousand years old'.

Then again, what would be considered a couple thousand in their books?

Still, Kai had more important matters to attend to. To be precise, he had to figure out what his new bloodline did.

Luckily, there was also a description much like his human bloodline.

However, his human bloodline had also changed after his new one awakened.

80% Human: Extremely malleable race. Flexible in all classes and stats. Provides 2 unasigned stat points per level instead of assigned stat points.

Well, that was a shame. Now, instead of giving three unasigned stat points per level, now his human bloodline only gave two.

Still, its not like one unasigned stat point would make much of a difference.

Actually, now that Kai thought about it, the human bloodline seemed really shit. Three unasigned stat points per level? Kai got twenty-three times that per level now.

While it was useful in the beginning, now it was more of a handicap.

Then again, it's not like Kai knew what other bloodlines offered. There could even be a bloodline that weakened those who had it, he had know way of knowing while still inside the white room.

Obviously a majority of his questions would be answered after they tutorial ended, but would the information he receives be trustworthy is the question?

As his master said, there would be plenty of factions waiting to recruit those who survived the tutorial. Be it through peaceful means or the getting the survivors drunk plan that Kai had heard so much about, there was plenty of hidden threats waiting for them once the tutorial was over.

But wait a second... What would Kai do if someone tried to recruit him after the tutorial?

It's not like he could just name drop his master, considering they were meant to be imprisoned and all, that would just do more harm than good.

But the other problem was that Kai most definitely did not have the strength to turn down a faction if they were insistent on recruiting him. He was just one teenager after all, and they were probably going to be much stronger than one teenager.

Kai sighed. It seemed he really did have a lot to worry about at the end of these five days. But at least he had these five days to relax in the first place.

Still, it's not like he could relax until after he read the description of his newly awakened bloodline.

20% Kaiser of Souls: Your soul has been tugged on by the strings of fate, reinforcing it and granting it unknown power. With every increase in rank, you shall obtain new knowledge. You gain an in depth amount of knowledge to the working of souls that can be applied in various different areas of expertise. You gain a 20% boost to all soul related abilities.

Kai swallowed as he finished reading the description. At this point, he would rather just stay in the safety of the white room rather than face whatever was outside it. Everything was either too cryptic or too creepy for it to even be a viable thought for Kai.

Well, not really, he was overreacting, but that was only because the first line literally stated that Kai's soul had been touched by fate.

And nothing good ever came from fate, he knew that from one particular webnovel he had read...

Still, maybe he could be lucky and the fate that had touched him would be a nicer and kinder version than the one that had touched that poor bastard of a main character.

Truly, that guy really was the unluckiest in the whole world, two worlds even.

However, the unknown power part of it was equally as confusing as the strings of fate part. An unknown power to do with souls...

Kai's eyes widened as a wave of realisation hit him, his excitement brimming as he inwardly knew the answer.

"That damn future sight thing."

It had to be, there was no other plausible action. That was the one aspect of souls that Kai could still not fundamentally get a grip on. He was pretty good at Statshifting by now, even if it did take him a while, and his repairing of souls wasn't too shabby either considering he had repaired roughly five hundred cracks in the time that Failure was possessing him.

Even though that event had happened a few days ago, Kai still felt the off pang of pain from the centre of his chest.

But it definitely had to be his unknown future sight that was the unknown power. Kai still didn't really understand how to properly use it, it was more of an instinct than an actual thing, he didn't really know how to describe it.

And there was also the fact that Kai had to be looking at the beings soul for it to work, and it didn't work on someone that was a much higher being than Kai. He had tested it on Failure at one point, but got no response.

There was also the fact that he couldn't glimpse more than a few seconds into the future, that was his current limit.

However, maybe if he were to make use of the apparent knowledge he had been granted, then maybe Kai would be able to figure out the best way to overcome that limit.

All of the notifications are finally gone through... Its over...
