Chapter 47 - The Proposal

"This Old Man would like to transfer all my shares to Xin but I would need the both of you to agree to my terms and conditions before we proceed. We are all not sure how much the rest of the family has grown. I know your 4th Uncle has more and more contacts now and your 3rd Aunt also does have some dealings with the underworld. Your 1st Uncle has also been more and more involved in the political world too. I would like the both of you to consider what I have to say before we proceed. Is that agreeable to both of you? Lawyer Fu, you just sit here and be our witness and also out brains just in case we missed out on some things."

Knowing that the two parties might have objections, Grandfather Shen felt that it would be best that they make themselves comfortable. Gesturing to the seat An Fei has just vacated, he carried on.

"I know what I'm going to say how might be difficult for the both of you but if you have analyzed the whole situation, this is the best solution that we have right now. But of course, we would need to make sure that this is a full proof plan with no way of dispute and also no way that the rest of the family can tear down. So, the terms and conditions that I'm going to say is up for further considerations and amendments. Now, dont interrupt me while I speak."

Grandfather Shen looked at both An Fei and Chen Xin. He sighed and continued.

"Well, the best solution now is for the both of you to get married."

"But-"

Grandfather Shen shot An Fei a look and she stopped, pouting, she folded her arms and lean back on her seat staring daggers at her Grandfather.

"I said no interruptions. As I was saying, the both of you have to get married. Firstly, this is a valid and logical gift that I can give to my future grandson in law. Yes, he is already part of the family, but now that my granddaughter is not around your uncles will insist that he is an outsider and should not be given any shares. However, with another marriage, they cant use this as an excuse to push him out. It is a wedding gift for the both of you. Also, it was your Grandmother's last wish to see the both of you married after we found Fei Fei. So it would also be fulfilling her last wish if the both of you got married.

"Next, he is the successor that I have chosen before your Grandmother passed on. Even though he doesn't want to take on the business, I would hope that I can pass it over to him as he is the most eligible candidate to take over at this point of time. Now that we have some time, we can start training a new candidate to take over and at the same time start doing some policy changes in the company so that we can implement new rules and regulation.

"Lastly, I'm sure the both of you will be fighting over who should be taking care of me and where and who should I be staying with and to avoid that, I would like to stay with the both of you. Here or in another property is also fine with me. In order to reduce all this, it would be best that all 3 of us stay together until I am strong enough to travel. Well I still insist on travelling the world without you people bugging me.

"Xin, I want to hear from you first. If Fei Fei were to speak, it will all be oppositions. Tell me what is your thoughts on this?"

"My question is, how long do you think you will need to find a new successor and to train him up?"

"This I'm not very sure how long do I need to find a new successor and train him up and I am not planning to train that person. I'm just going to leave him to Fei Fei and if the both of you are married, it would be easier for her to guide you on this and guide him at the same time. What do you think about my Granddaughter? Will you marry her?"

"Well, I dont see why the need to get married but if that is what Grandmother wants, I am willing to fulfill her wishes if it is agreeable with Miss An. I do agree that if we are married it will not tear you up when deciding who to stay with and it would also not set people's tongue wagging when they found out. I believe it sounds like a doable plan for now. I would like Miss An to agree to this before we proceed. It is also her life we are talking about here."

Both Grandfather Shen and Chen Xin turned to An Fei, expecting her to start talking but instead the both of then were faced with a red faced angry An Fei glaring at rhe both of them and they are not very sure what to do right at this moment.

"Now Fei Fei, it is finally your turn. Before you turn from red to blue, green or purple holding it all in, you can start talking now. Dearest, you dont have to hold it in anymore. We would like to hear from you now."
