Chapter 9- Did well

"Why this sudden suggestion?" Megumi was genuinely surprised to hear the proposal of the battle with the renowned sorcerer.

Although Megumi wasn't a battle junkie, fighting Gojo Satoru at his full potential seemed a little inviting. However, he first wanted to know what was going through the Limitless user's mind when he proposed the spar.

Gojo remained silent for a bit before he informed, "Your last exorcism has created turmoil among the higher-ups and also a certain clan. And as crazy this world is, we both know it will come to bite you sooner rather than later."

Megumi knew what he said was true. The concentration of power in a single hand scares the people. That was why the other clans and the higher-ups have always been wary of Gojo Satoru. He not only has the strength to overwhelm his opposition, but his ideologies don't stand shoulder-to-shoulder with those so-called 'peace lovers'.

The presence of the Ten Shadow Technique user was already a matter of concern, after all, the nemesis and worthy opponent of the Six Eyes user was nobody else than Megumi himself in the current era. And now, Megumi was also under the wing of Gojo—much to others' annoyance.

They either would try recruiting Megumi in the name of maintaining balance, or simply get rid of him, before Megumi grows any stronger.

And given Megumi's mindset, the second option seemed more likely to occur.

"You want to train me so I can defend myself? Shouldn't you be doing this for Yuji?"

Gojo raised his brows as a sound of 'Ho~' seeped through his lips.

"Is Megumi-chan worried for his friend~"

Megumi's eyes darkened as he stared at the man with a blank look.

Gojo chuckled at that before responding, "Don't worry; I have already thought something for Yuji-kun. A perfect mentor for him. And I, your super handsome sensei, are in charge of ascertaining the requirement of your training."

'Nanami is it...' Megumi was somewhat relieved that Gojo made this decision to assign a teacher for Yuji, who would help him get some field experience. It must be because the higher-ups assigned a special grade to the trio which made Gojo make this decision.

The next event where they could target Yuji was the Kyoto-sister goodwill event. And by that time, Yuji would be far stronger than he currently was.

"Then...do I need to fight you hand to hand or..." Just as Megumi left his question hanging, Gojo smirked and added,

"Use whatever you deem enough to land a blow on me. Ah, and don't worry, I won't be using my limitless or Cursed Technique. I will just block and evade."

'It would have been useful...' Although Megumi wanted to use Mahoraga and overcome limitless when he had the chance, he wouldn't do so.

He didn't want to expose the fact that Megumi already had gained control over his strongest Shikigami.

The explanation would be a hassle to relay.

"Alright. "

As Megumi replied in consent, both individuals moved toward the middle of the field track and stood with a distance of four meters between them.

"Ah, Megumi-chan. If you may, then don't hesitate to use your Domain expansion."

Fushiguro nodded before he readied himself.

Whatever he knows about the man, told Megumi that it wouldn't be an easy battle just because Gojo has inflicted handicaps on himself.

However, not like he was going to back off and accept his defeat without giving it a shot.

Gojo didn't untie his blindfold as he saw his student summoning the Divine Dogs, before sending them in his way.

'They have become stronger...' The time lapsed between the summoning and Gojo seeing the claws of the Divine Dog inches away from his face, was merely three seconds,

'...and faster.' Gojo smirked before he tilted his head and dodged the attack without moving his legs.

The claw went past his face before Gojo sensed the other one trying to bite his torso, which ushered the man to jump lightly on his feet and land on the Divine Dog's head; making it fall to the ground.

The other Divine Dog twirled its body and was about to attack Gojo from behind—only to be caught by Gojo with his bare hand, and holding the Shikigami in mid-air.

However, since his legs and arms were preoccupied with apprehending the Shikigami, he didn't notice when Megumi advanced toward his left flank with his punch reeled back in.

Just as Megumi was about to punch the man, Gojo disappeared from his spot, and Megumi ended up hitting his Shikigami instead.

*BOOOOM*

The strike was enough to send the Divine Dog, meters away—however, it wasn't killed.

Megumi called both of them back to his shadow before summoning, Nue.

The large owl-like creature with light orange feathers appeared right beneath Megumi and elevated him to the air.

It didn't take long for Megumi to find the silver-haired man who was standing aloofly in a corner with a smile never leaving his face.

Megumi commanded Nue to launch itself toward Gojo, meanwhile, he himself jumped off the bird, and while remaining above Gojo, he wielded the power of Max Elephant.

His chest swelled before Megumi released a stream of concentrated stream-lined water in Gojo's direction. His movements and attack rate were synchronized, as just when Nue released its thunder, the water would have hit the man—amplifying the shock.

Gojo saw through the technique, but he had enough time to move away and dodge the onslaught—or so he thought.

"Oh my..." Suddenly, he found three sticky and long tongues wrapped around his legs and torso.

The realization struck him a second later before the combined attack of Nue and Max Elephant landed on Gojo.

**BOOOOOM**

The astonishing effect of the combined attacks created a loud explosion, giving birth to a dome of smoke and dust, where Gojo stood.

The ground trembled because of the impact and the very air particle got charged up because of the kinetic movement.

This combined attack was something Megumi had invented to deal with people like Mahito, who relied more on their Cursed technique rather than physical prowess.

However, without his neutral infinity, it sure has landed on Gojo Satoru as well...

...or so Megumi hoped,

*Tap*

Just as Megumi landed on the ground, he felt a hand over his shoulder, which belonged to none other.

"You did well, Megumi-chan."
