Journey: The Destructive Incarnate

In the Stellar sea of stars, a giant tree stood, rivers made of countless white streaks flowed throughout its giant body travelling toward its root. Those rivers were made of souls going through the process of rebirth, but among those countless rivers, a certain stream travelled directly toward the stem of the tree. In that specific river, a soul flowed like every other; nothing special about it would have remained as such. Suddenly the space it inhabited collapsed as a brilliant golden glow travelled out of that distorted space. The soul unable to escape got showered by that golden glow, its spiritual body absorbing it. Unable to handle the magnitude of the power contained in the golden light, the soul started to tear up. But somehow it managed to absorb it all, but it came at a cost, as the single soul split into two, one being thrown out of that river. Passing through another river, it made its way toward the root, whereas the other part continued on its way. A soul who got the body to handle the power of the golden glow after rebirth but didn't have it, and a body that had the power but couldn't handle it was created. Ch.50 A Normal Girl

On the northwest side of the main capital of the Lionheart Dukedom lies a city, the city named the "Ravenhood".

It is named as such due to most of it being built by raven wood from the nearby forest, well the once luscious forest is now no more.

It is also two times the size of Lionheart City, as for the reason... The existence of the outer city.

The outer city was built over time as the population increased and by the law of the Dukedom, the citizens must be given all their rights.

So a new city started to be built outside the walls of the main city, which at the current point has reached the size of the main city.

This has caused quite a wide-scale discrimination even to the dismay of the Lionheart family, after all the richer a person the closer they are to the city center.

Then looking at this, most people will think that the outskirts of this city is a slum district, but that type of thought is incorrect.

There is no concept of a slum in this city, as everybody lives in a well-built house and earns enough money to live their life.

But if you ask the locals what part of this city is the most dangerous, they will give a simple answer, the middle section.

After all that is the place where most of the disappearance in the city happens, the city's current head has deployed knights there but it still hasn't lessened the problems of the people.

So even with that, why do most people choose to travel there, it is because of the opportunities found there.

Young adults at the age of 15 and above will go there to find jobs and elevate their current financial situation.

Plus rather than going to other cities that will take many months of travel by a normal carriage, it is easier to go to the middle section of the city.

After all from the outer part of the city, it will only take five days to travel by carriage. Also since it is a city bordering the "Titan Spine Mountain" most people don't like to live in the outskirts.

It was a rainy day, thunder rumbled in the sky, and a man clad in silver armor walked out of the forest.

But he was not in good condition as there were many dents and holes in his armor, blood flowed from the holes.

His eyes were blood red, but seeing the exit of the forest a hint of job sparked in his eyes, taking a deep breath he started sprinting with all his might.

His speed surpassing thousands of times the speed of sound made him able to rush toward the nearest city.

But it came at a cost, as his body was in no condition to run like that, still ignoring the pain felt he continued to run.

Using his mana he shielded the basket in his hands so that it wouldn't get destroyed by the wind. Inside the basket was a child wrapped in white clothes.

Looking at the child not even a year old, the man's eyes teared but he didn't stop. After all, he has a mission he has to fulfill.

Feeewwwwww!

Sensing something flying toward him the man stopped as a dagger passed in front of him, barely missing his head.

Although he wouldn't have died in such an attack it would have left him fatally wounded as the dagger was coated with poison.

The grass of the field fluttered as twenty individuals clocked in black clothes surrounded him, all having daggers in their hands.

"Barry, hand over the child and you will be spared."

An aged voice spoke, as a man with a body bulkier than the others stepped forward, he was most likely the leader.

"And betray the trust my lord had in me, Hahaha, Never."

Barry spoke in a hoarse voice, most likely due to damaged vocal cords as he spit some blood. His body was wounded but his will can never be shattered.

"Such a pity, what can you even do without your sword."

The man said as he turned his head with disappointment. He was speaking the truth, after all, a knight without a sword facing twenty trained assassins, this battle was already over.

Well, that's what the people in the black clothes think anyway.

"That may be true, but as they say a knight shines the most bright when he is protecting his master."

Barry said as he smiled, he gave a toothy grin, the bloody tooth sent fear down some of the people attacking him.

"Plus, I may not have a weapon, but it doesn't mean I don't have any options."

With that, he showed them his fist as he got into a fighting position, he was at a severe disadvantage with one hand carrying the baby he could only fight with the other.

His mana flared as his opponents also flared their mana to counter his pressure. Ten of them did a frontal attack as the other half disappeared into the shadow.

As the ten tried to rush him, he kicked the ground disappearing from their view, appearing in front of one, he grabbed his opponent's face and slammed it into the ground.

BOOOOOOOOOOOM!!

The ground exploded due to the sheer power behind the attack as the opponent's face exploded, as the other one tried to attack with his dagger, Barry grabbed his hand.

Using him as a blunt weapon he slammed the attacker into one of his partners, infusing his fist with mana he punched creating a hold through the two.

The shadow below his body moved as two figures tried to jump him, kicking the ground he jumped to dodge and in doing so a dagger hit him.

Piercing through the armor the dagger tore through his flesh, and the poison in the dagger started to flow into his body.

Using his mana he suppressed the flow of the poison but it made him sluggish, as a fist came toward his face.

He was sent flying down as he landed on the ground, falling would have lessened the damage he received but it would have also harmed the child.

So he took the entire attack head-on, his nose broken he looked at the figure of the muscular man.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

Shouting with all his power Barry circulated his mana as fists of rocks started to form behind him, just because he is a knight doesn't mean he doesn't know any magic.

Flying at a speed higher than sound, the fists traveled toward the assassins, but like snakes, they easily slithered their way out of it.

Tendrils of darkness erupted from the ground binding him, Crack!, his armor started to get crushed as the seven unhidden attackers rushed toward him.

But the thing that Barry feared the most in this situation was the muscular man, as electricity danced through the man's body.

Thunder rumbled behind him as he stared at Barry with a cold emotionless gaze, it seemed death had come for Barry after his centuries of service.

Looking at the child in his hands, whom he was protecting a new wave of passion appeared on his face as he let his mana rage on freely.
