Lireesa vs Legend (2)

The troll's hair stood up in warning as multiple arrows raced toward him. He dodged what he could and waved his ax behind for what he couldn't dodge.

Ding! Ding!

They were all accurate shots. If not for his physique being a Legend outclassing all other levels and supporting these intricate movements possible, these swift attacks could already end his life. He estimated even quasi-legend couldn't last more than 30 arrows. His hand still trembled from the force directed by these piercing attacks.

He gambled the infuriated widow behind him would cut his path and he won. He achieved what he wanted—a duel. With 30 seconds of invincibility to magic attributes on his body, he would make use of rare moments to try what he intended to fake it at first. Killing the Windrunners who were out of action despite knowing it was impossible.

Well, the intent went adrift after he looked back and discovered the woman's eyes. His heart froze from just a gaze. He didn't know if his fear overwhelmed his sanity or if this woman's power indeed outclassed him. Anyway, his subconscious reaction was to stay away.

But would Lireesa give him such a chance? As she neared him at a distance of about 5 meters away, she launched the final round of three arrows and rushed toward him. Her smaller size and her agility helped Lireesa at an arm's reach; she leaped on the troll and brought him down with her momentum, her hands grasping his shoulders.

The two hit the dirt rolling over due to their original high speed. A normal creature moving at such speed and tumbling on the ground would already suffer severe injuries and become immobile. As both of them were powerhouses, they managed to avoid through techniques and their strong body.

After she realized she had put her opponent down, Lireesa did a forward side-roll and used her hand to force herself up. Her semi-artifact was hanging behind her, still in place when Lireesa decided to stumble over both of them.

The troll suffered the most; he was aggrieved and lost his weapon. His head kissed the soil and still felt dizzy from the impact. Unlike Lireesa, he wasn't prepared to be forced to roll over. His body somersaulted on the side unwillingly. Yet he managed to stand up relying on his physique unfrightened of any injuries.

Before halfway through his stance, something hard slammed brutally at his right cheek. He fell down on his side and was in doubt whether he heard a bone crack but he grimaced in pain and looked at the perpetrator. His sight blurry but he knew it was Lireesa. There was no one around aside from the obvious two.

Lireesa at the moment had her left knee stretched outward from a jumping strike, which was apparently the culprit smashing the troll's head. While the momentum was on her side, she whip-kicked with her right foot twice but was blocked by the troll's forearm. Unsatisfied with the damage she brought, she stomped with her heel over his head.

Normally, if she was in bare feet, she would never try this out. Since Lireesa was in full attire, armored at places where necessary, especially the shin foot guard, her style of combat thrived. The aggression behind was in full display, shocking the troll.

Nonetheless, the troll tried to crawl out from his bad position and Lireesa lunged over hugging his torso with her full weight, pressing him underneath. She chopped with the other free hand at any creature's weakest point—throat, nose, and temple. It worked initially but was soon covered by the troll's forearm.

Even with his immortal-like physique, his sensation always existed and Lireesa's moves brought maximum pain to the troll. However, not long, the troll realized, despite the achiness and numbness from the rest of his body, his tolerance was high and decided to grapple Lireesa while he endured her relentless attacks. His magic invincibility was inept in front of sheer brutality.

Standing up with great difficulty, he clasped Lireesa close in his arms and lifted her light body high to slam her to the ground. Rather than being thrown, Lireesa grasped his waist and directed the force to propel around the troll. She danced around his skin and with her agile swiftness tackled him down on the ground instead.

As both hoisted up rapidly, Lireesa dropped her body and slid across. Her legs grappled his knee joints and rammed the troll down. They were now in the ground fight; Lireesa locked his knees and palmed the troll's crouch with brute force. The Legend troll widen his eyes which then rolled up. She was confident, he was seeing stars at this time.

As a male in her previous life, she was very clear about the degree of such impairment. Although the troll's physique was different, Lireesa highly doubted he could recover quickly to fight her back. Apologizing in her heart, she fisted twice on his chin. Even with arcane film reinforcing her body, her hand felt numb.

Afterward, both of her hands reached behind her and unsheathed the two daggers, slashing at his neck. It was a sure kill if the troll didn't react. However, hope was gone when the troll fared to block the cut with mere forearms. As a legendary powerhouse, his timely reaction saved his life through high survival instinct. Should he hesitate, his head would already be decapacitated.

The daggers sliced through and before getting stuck Lireesa pulled back, grinding away muscle tissues. She tried to stab again and slashed away the blocks. Slash away, stab again. The troll's injury grew. Subsequent repeated slashes and stabs somehow chopped away one of the troll's hands and blood spluttered. Some hit her face and clothes. Her hands now painted red.

Perhaps troll regained himself from the groin strike, he roared at Lireesa. His rumble reverberated in Lireesa's mind and stunned her for half a second. Every second counts in a deadly fight. Half a second was enough to make his move. He ignored the pain from the hands, slapped her face hard, and managed to kick Lireesa away. Her feet slipped for several steps as she backed away. Lireesa watched the troll hop at her after she regained consciousness.

Only a curse remained in her mind. Why was he a berserker? Such unluckiness! Although she complained, her every step was well-calculated. Even if the berserker used full potential anger rage power, she still had 'Windburst' blessing to escape and withdrew from the battle quickly. So, her life wasn't really threatened except the difficulty for victory rose.

Lireesa sidestepped the overhead fist strike from his intact hand and prepared her knees for a counterattack. But as his fist made contact, the ground quivered and Lireesa even noticed the shockwave spread around the troll. Lireesa saved herself from being stunned and hurt again by gliding backward yet the air wave blew her in the air. Her breath congested from the vibrations.

While she was in the air, her eyes captured a reflection thrown by the troll. Time slowed down. Her sluggish blink realized it was an ax whirling in the air at her, and the troll somehow managed to grasp his already dropped weapon during the initial fight. She couldn't avoid his attack. Utilizing all her core muscles and waist strength, she tumbled during her flight for a better position and palmed at the side of the ax to redirect its blow. Her mouth curled after solving her predicament. Or at least she thought.

Unfortunately, at the instant her hand touched the weapon, shockwave thundered and slammed Lireesa away to the ground across several meters. Her daggers flew away. Her back crashed into the soil spreading pebbles and grasses along her trail. Until a few meters, Lireesa stopped moving. One knee up, she groaned. Stunned and paralyzed.

Confused was she till she felt warm streams on her back, probably blood from tearing wounds. She coughed out several times and some blood seeped from the corners of her mouth. She elbowed upward and craned her neck, seeing her opponent toddling toward her. Lireesa slanted her body to the side, holding her abdomen, obviously pained from stomach ache. Internal organs shuddered from the shockwaves.

Her trembling hands pivoted her to stand up albeit slowly and she faced the coming troll. Her mind recovered from the shock effect though her body continued trembling. She reached out for her bow and quiver, which were thrown near her grasp, fortunately. She simply drew the bowstring and three arrows aimed at the troll. Her pupils enlarged from utter disbelief because the menacing legend troll turned around and escaped.

His roar echoed across the battlefield. "Trolls! Retreat! Save yourself!"

The Legend troll indeed had his plan to kill Lireesa while she was weak. His magic immunity was gone now and he was critically injured, requiring some respite to not worsen his situation. However, he wasn't reconciled if he didn't take given opportunity to finish Lireesa off. He could become famous to have kill Ranger-General of Quel'Thalas and his influence would grow among several tribes. But his dream went cold as soon as he saw Lireesa despite being strenuous stood up and picked up her weapons. He ran away before she aimed at him.

He was sure Lireesa might be able to kill the wounded him effortlessly with arrows now. The troll didn't want to die and chose to evacuate. His appearance was already beyond recognition and he doubted his subordinates would recognize their leader. Widow's terror was indeed precarious. He swore he would never fight with women, especially lunatic.

If a Legend escaped nobody could stop them unless Legends themselves were involved. If the Legend declared his escape techniques was second, no one dared to call themselves first.

Still, Lireesa fired relentlessly at the troll who shamelessly used his 'charge' ability to distance himself further away from her. She was helpless and sighed in exasperation. Picking up a few arrows from the quiver, she released Windburst arrows one by one, clearing the trolls' existence near her battlefield. Her heart was annoyed and she needed a vent. After contemplating for a while, she drew out three arcane arrows which were appearing brighter and larger according to her mana input. Soon when she felt it was enough, the arrows flew and divided into multiple arrows continuously in the air. Thousands of arrows weren't wrong to fit the description. "Multi-shot" spell.

She repeated the process five times nearly exhausting half of her mana and exhaled intensely. Her arrow showers brought hell upon countless trolls from the destitute cries in the distant. Now, Lireesa turned away her sight and stumbled back toward a group of rangers; most of them were wounded and under treatment while some were treating their sisters. All of them looked dumbfounded, watching Lireesa getting closer. No one spoke and Lireesa had no time to care about other areas in the battle. She was confident Sena would take care of the rest.

Lireesa half-knelt beside Alleria whose eyes were still closed and whose chest was breathing. She was relieved to see her well and asked about her condition. A responsible ranger answered Alleria was in good condition and her sleep was just rest. Her critical wounds had been healed by potions brought by the rangers before the expedition. Many injured rangers were using them. Although they were expensive, Lireesa was grateful for their handiness here. Lireesa thanked her and let her resume whatever she was doing next.

Lireesa raised her hand to gently rub her daughter's forehead but halted her action when she discovered it was soaked with blood. Smothering her hands on her silver robe which was now messy and torn off. Her entire beauty was vibrant along with silver attire and exuded another enchanting charisma when combined with the redness on her robe and some of the blood on her skin.

Her fingers crossed and elbows on her knees, Lireesa sat down on the ground near Alleria and glanced around. Although the battle was over in her opinion, due vigilance was required. She was guarding this vulnerable group against sneak attacks despite high unlikeliness. She must be responsible to the end.

Lireesa smiled at the comradeship and care between her Windrunners. Nobody complained or had dissatisfaction from their expression. They were her darlings. All of them. At this point, all that remained was to wait for the scout's reports and Sena's presence before she returned for her Silvermoon mission.

Well, I wasn't expecting this long though.

It happens and the author is controlling the words.

Thank you for your huge support these days.
