Closing his eyes, he welcomed the darkness washing over him. Gael’s star was there, and it didn’t take long before he saw another. It was big and bright and surrounded by a green glow, like northern lights. Focusing on it he prepared for the pain, but it didn’t come, not in the same way at least. There was a pressure in his mind, a poking and a sting, but not the same white-hot pain.

He opened his eyes and stared at Edie. “We did it, right?”

She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. “I always knew I liked you better than him. It wasn’t nearly as bad as the first time.”

Archie hummed. His entire head throbbed. “Can we sleep now?”

He didn’t wait for Edie to respond, he closed his eyes and curled up on the floor. He’d only take a short nap, then he’d drag Gael up to the bedroom. 10
