Edie stilled. “It’s a myth, Archie.”
The air grew heavy. “What does the myth say?”
She shook her head. “It’s a fairytale.”
“What does it say?” His raised voice scared the spiders on his bookshelves.
Edie shrugged. “A daywalker is a vampire who can be outside in the sunlight, he can walk among people, an immortal without any weaknesses. They don’t exist.”
How could she know? “Don’t they?”
Her face turned grim. “If they did we would’ve heard about it. It would’ve been in the books.”
Probably. “Can we bind ourselves to him? Would it keep him alive until he can find a coven to take him in?”
She shrugged. “Are you willing to die for a man you’ve known for a couple of days?”
There was a tornado in his mind, a roaring cyclone sucking up every ounce of bravery he’d ever possessed. “Are you willing to let a man die without trying to save his life?”
“Yes.”
