The shadows by the door moved, and Archie noticed two men standing there watching Gael’s every move. Were they the remaining members of the coven?

“I’m happy to see you too. Adriel, I was wondering if we could talk—” He glanced at the men. “—in private.”

“Of course.” She giggled and cocked her head in a way that had the curls caressing the skin on her neck. “Leave us.”

Archie watched the men exchange looks, but no one moved.

“Adriel—” One took a step forward.

“I said leave us.” They did, and Archie slid back, allowing Gael and Adriel the illusion of privacy.

“Don’t sneak away, Charlie.” Adriel’s fingers curled around Archie’s wrist. Charlie? Archie’s grandfather had been named Charlie. “Had I known you’d be willing to share your life with a vampire I’d have snatched you up a long time ago. Clever, Gael.”

“Eh…” Gael stared at Archie and shrugged.

Archie held his breath. Did vampires suffer from dementia?
