chapter 5: Truce
Alright Ashley, we need to talk. Five minutes later after unpacking from camping we met in my room to discuss the weekend. So what happened Ash? I thought we were getting along so well these past couple years. I took you camping with my best friend and her family for crying out loud! You put a snake in my bed! A snake of all things. "You put a real spider in mine!" Only after you planted the snake! did you really think I was gonna let that go? Why after all this time of no pranking did you decide to do that? "oh, I saw an opportunity and I took it, I couldn't resist. But you're right we were getting along good. Let's call a truce to not prank each other no more." Alright deal. So now we had a truce going on not to prank, but knowing what happened over the camping trip can I really trust her to keep that?
"Hey ladies, how was camping?" It was awesome, but really hot so glad we camped close to the water. "Well that's great. Dad and I have some news we need to discuss with you girls." Oh great we're in trouble, they know about the pranks. Well what is it you wanna tell us? "Well I don't know how to tell you girls this but your dad and I are splitting up." What! No way! What do you mean? You guys were fine when we left, I dont understand. "You see we try to not fight and argue in front of you kids. But while you're at school and not here, it's an endless fight. We tried working it out, for the sake of you kids but we just can't do it no more." Well who gets us? "Well I'll be moving out, you're mom and you girls will stay here. Once I find a place you guys can visit any time you want. We love you girls both very much, but mom and I just need to go our separate ways now."
We had our last family dinner together that night and went to our rooms. Ashley and I cried for the longest time, before passing out in my room. We never felt that close before not even when we stopped pranking for those couple years. We always had a great childhood, so when we were told our parents are splitting up that never crossed our minds. It was a major shock, things will never be the same again. The next morning Ashley and I got up early to make breakfast and try to keep our dad from leaving. Dad was sleeping in the basement, but atleast he was still here. So we started the coffee and started cracking some eggs. We made eggs, toast, and cereal and coffee for breakfast and set the table. Ok Ash go get mom, I'll get dad.
Dad, wakey wakey. Ashley and I made you breakfast. "Shouldn't you be getting ready for school." Well yes but we got up extra early to make breakfast first. I'm gonna go get ready now, love you don't let your breakfast get cold. Morning mom, breakfast on table love you. Come on Ash, we need to get ready for school. We got dressed and ready as fast as we could and hurried downstairs to see how our parents were getting along. Ash hold on, let's listen first. "I can't believe they got up early and made us breakfast, they never do this." "I think their trying to tell us something. I know they don't want you to go but it's for the best, they'll get over it." "Morning ladies, thank you for the breakfast. It was really thoughtful." Is dad still leaving? "Yes I'm still leaving today, nothing changed." Well we tried, come on Ashley let's get to the bus stop.
