Madam Ru
Once upon a time, I gave this novel great reviews. But now, I can't even read it. It isn't even completed or near completion but its locked chapters already cost you about $100. It's far overpriced with some chapters costing (I saw one being 23). The pricing MUST be reconsidered if webnovel even has the goal of letting readers finish a novel. Otherwise, just Google a novel like this and you'll find links to similar novels that are free.
Writing is ok, seems like reasonably stable updates. The logic of the author falls on its face when it comes to military families and especially military orphans. The idea that the military would take away benefits from orphans of men who fell while presumably still at war, is frankly idiotic, especially since their new "asset"won't be worth anything for decades to come.In the meantime they are giving the finger to every other Mecha pilot, who now know that if they die the government will go back on its word in terms of supporting their families. That's probably not good for morale, nor for building loyalty to the government. Which means they are trading dubious gains in the future - apparently it's allowed to be a wastrel - in return for a massive hit on morale here and now, while still at war. Lol 0 for logic. Character design is ok World is generic.
Interesting story. MC is female, but it doesn't mean early romance or OP woman in love. Maybe in latter chapters there will be some romance, but considering style of novel MC may get fan club full of females. Some gender inequality is present, but it was mentioned only once, rest of time author reminds us that she must keep her gender secret. Even though female MC should be like 'Nightmare difficulty' it's mostly used for... nothing. Maybe in the future we'll get gender bender hilarious jokes Now it's school time, honestly i don't like this type of plot, but till this point it was an enjoyable read
It's been about three years since I last read this novel and when I finished the updated chapters I had to stare at a wall for a good amount of time to not be absolutely heartbroken because the novel hadn't updated in forever. Three years later it's still stick in my head. I haven't even thought of an ex boyfriend this long. Please update I'm on my knees 😭. On another note, I love this story, you guys should give it a read. MC's pretty cool and although I was suspicious of it just being a weird romance at first, the romance actually only really starts showing up around the thousandth chapter and then slows down again. The world building is pretty good and manages to flesh out the whole interstellar aspect through the mini plots that don't contribute much to the actual plot but end up making the whole story. Over the last three years the thing that's stuck with me the most was the sense of camaraderie between Ling Lan and her friends. Friendship is one of the things that stick with me past romance when I'm done reading a novel and though the romance in this novel was great and had me doing laps for the miniature part that it's there, the way the smaller stories with Ling Lan's friends were woven into the overall plot really brought the book to a whole new level for me. Anyways, I'm giving this book a 4.2 because while I find this to be my absolute favorite Chinese webnovel, the update stability just isn't there. Also, if you start reading this and wonder when Ling Lan will be revealed to be a girl, if you're a frequent dropper of books, don't worry about it you won't get that far; however, if you're going to finish the book, yeah it still doesn't matter. TLDR: please update, I'm writing this review out of desperation
Hello! I'm sorry if I am going to offend other people with what I am going to state, I do not mean this personally. Starting from when Ryuxenji dropped the translating works of this novel, there were lots of minor mistakes in sentence construction that affects some of the 'scenarios' ('cause I can't say that it affects the plot in a whole). As I have mentioned, those are minor grammar mistakes however they affect the reader's (that's me, that's me!) comprehension. There were some times that I would reread the sentence (or the paragraph actually), just so that I could comprehend and understand it. And the updates, hehe. I really do understand that there were long chapters so you might not be able to update for another day or two but updates are irregular. Huhu. Please make the updates stable. The gaps between the updates are actually a tiny tiny tiny bit frustrating as the promised timeframe and quota are continuosly not being met. Also, it's past mid Feb already. That's all, muah! Godbless.
Simply loving this story :) it's not Shakespeare mind you but it's damn well entertaining . Nice and clever protagonist and a funny story as strange as Chinese web novels can get. Put together transmigration, a space federation in the future, Chinese cultivation, Mecha robots, a bit family succession drama and throw in a sassy 4 year old almighty system from another dimension and our awesome cross dressing once terminally ill female lead - whoever wrote all that into such an enjoyable novel... hat's off to you :)
The only thing that I REALLY DON'T LIKE is the stability of chapters. I mean, come on! This novel is so popular it's always in the Top 20 and if it weren't for the stability of updates then it would've slayed into the Top 10. I am SO DISAPPOINTED in QIDIAN because of this. This is very popular and big book that I can consider this a big project and yet QIDIAN is so irresponsible in the assignment of translators.
Wow..... With every chapter, I read I only get more and more absorbed into the story. The plot is amazing, the translations are amazing, the characters are astonishing and beautifully created and the way it's worded is something that I can only dream of ever achieving and I am so happy I found this site as well as this novel. Everything about this novel is top quality and seriously deserves an award of some kind. The translator is someone I have to thank as well. Thank you for making it possible for me to read this novel. This novel is amazing and I look forward to upcoming chapters and I also have to say one more thing: You are an AMAZING translator! My dream is to be a translator and learn as many languages as I can before I die. You are an inspiration to me and the style of which you word your chapter updates is done beautifully. Again I look forward to future updates and continue translating! Please continue to be an inspiration me and others and I wish you good luck! :)
I remember when you could only read up to chapter 500 in English. I had to create a Qidian acct and become fluent in translator apps to read up to 1500. I would recommend you go there to read directly if you can read Chinese (I can't) because Madam Ru's commentary is nice and lets you know why she only wrote up to 1500... LIFE. I do hope one day she will take up the novel again as I feel this is the best light novel I have ever read and has so much potential. Worth a read but keep in mind it has been a few years since the actual author RU went on hiatus.
I've never been in a relationship before but this novel to me is like an unforgettable ex that you loved so much and continues to haunt your dreams but you guys can never go back together. I've been a fan of this novel since 2018 and I still have that little bit of hope inside my heart that the author would try to finish this story. I know this sounds cheesy but this novel really grasped my heart with how good it is, and I've felt actually depressed whenever there's a hiatus going on.
Solid story about a gender-bended Mary Sue. Strengths of the novel include Ling Lan taking care of her subordinates, and conversely her subordinates' endless trust in her. Like reading a yakuza or mafia novel about a young master growing up, earning everyone's trust, and finally making a name for himself and his family or clan. Also, in contrast to other reincarnation stories, this one actually begins in the womb and then progresses slowly, so you have a sense of watching Lin Lan grow up. Weaknesses of the novel include some extremely drawn out scenes and arcs, Ling Lan's overpoweredness, the comparatively lame sci-fi setting (it's supposedly 10000 years in the future, but it feels like the technology hasn't even advanced by 100 years), and the author's lunacy of pulling real-world conflicts into the story (for an unfathomable reason, the space sector the protagonist lives in had to be the Chinese Federation, and to make matters worse, they're fighting the Twilight Empire, i.e. the antagonists are Japanese, and cartoon-idiotic ones at that). That last point is aggravating, but at least by chapter 263, the story hasn't given that conflict all that much screentime, so it was bearable.
