CHAPTER 50

Y/N'S POV

The next day happened more or less like the previous one, I went to classes, ate quickly in the cafeteria and then left with Mr. Wilson. Just like the day before, he brought food for me after work, and he kept doing it for the next four days. He was an older, moody man, but for some reason I had started to see some light in him. Maybe it was my paranoias as a kitsune that made me see things where there weren't any, but I decided to return the favor.

- Yoko: Is it possible to know where are you going? - she said crossing her arms and getting in my way - Tomorrow we have classes, and in case you didn't remember... The day after tomorrow is the dance! You can't screw up the last day, I'm a big "Kiten" shipper, you can't screw up the Raven's night.

-Y/N: What the fuck is the "Kiten"? - I looked at her confused and surrounded her to leave the room.

- Yoko: Hello? What planet do you live on? When there is a couple, a name is created to ship them, you know... Yoko and Divine is just like Yovine - she smiled - You are the Kiten merging Kit from kitsune and En from Enid - she said proudly - Besides it sounds super adorable because it sounds like kitten.

-Y/N: It seems logical to me - I opened the door - Don't worry I would never miss the dance, but I have to return a favor to a person. I'll be back early, I promise.

If I had learned anything from being in Japan with my grandparents, it was to fend for myself. From a very young age they made me learn how to do all the household chores so cooking, although it was not among my passions, I was not bad at all. I prepared a meal for four people, I planned to have dinner with Mr. Wilson the night before the dance and thus thank him for everything he had done for me. Even if it had only been shouting and ignoring me and then giving me dinner, I was still grateful for it.

The other two rations I would give to Enid and Wednesday, because well, there were few times that homemade food was eaten in the cafeteria. So once I had finished preparing the meal, I sneaked back to my room and got ready to sleep. The next day in the morning, I took a quick shower and headed to my girlfriend's room. I wanted to give her the tupperware with what I had prepared last night as soon as possible because I didn't trust Yoko's gluttonous.

-Wednesday: Come back in without knocking on the doors and you will feel all my anger chasing you for millennia - she threatened me.

-Y/N: Please, Wenny... I've only caught you in your underwear, besides we're family - I smiled burlesquely - There's nothing I haven't already seen, besides your development is not that it's been a big deal either - I shut up the moment a knife was thrown cutting the ends of my hair and then getting caught on the wall - Your aim has developed spectacularly.

-Wednesday: No, I failed - said seriously - I wanted to stick it between your eyebrows, damn.

-Enid: I see that you are getting along well since early in the morning - she appeared drying her hair with a towel and smiling - Good morning - she said walking past me making me unable to take my gaze off her - A pity I came out of the bathroom already dressed, huh? - she said playfully.

-Y/N: - I rolled my eyes - You don't know that well - I smiled and approached her - I hate myself for thinking that you look beautiful even with wet hair like a dog abandoned in the rain - I commented.

-Wednesday: That was a compliment - she said while finishing to get dressed.

- Enid: I know! - she said with slightly flushed cheeks - I guess you missed this puppy so much that you couldn't wait to see me in class - she touched the tip of my nose with one of her fingers.

-Y/N: I was actually coming to give you something - I smiled like a fool until I looked at my cousin and got serious - And well, you too.

-Wednesday: Surprise us - she said sarcastically.

-Y/N: Mr. Wilson has been making me dinner all these days, so today I will return the favor and have dinner with him - I smiled and took out the tuppers - And since I started cooking, I thought I would prepare some for you too.

- Enid: Is this homemade food made by you? - her ears and tail came out - Really?

-Y/N: I know it doesn't fit much with me and my personality, but yes - I smirked - Surely made by a servant - I said pointing to myself.

-Wednesday: - she took the tupperware and put it in her backpack - You didn't have to, but it's about time to eat something in condition - she said approaching the door - Come on, let's go to class Thing.

-Thing: - he turned in our direction - "She's not going to tell you, but she's happy about the gesture" - he said before moving on to Wednesday.

-Y/N: Are we going to class too? - I smiled and held out my hand for her to take it.

-Enid: - she nodded and then placed a fleeting kiss on my lips - Let's go, kit.

When I started my working day with Mr. Wilson, we went to the outdoor garden and started pruning the plants. It was the first time we had worked outside, and since it was winter the cold was getting to the bone. I used the will-o'-the-wisp flames to warm up Mr. Wilson, but he gave me a hard look and pushed me away.

-Y/N: I'm just trying to keep you warm - I frowned - You surely turn to be unpleasant...

-Wilson: I don't like you, I hate the excluded - he said while pruning - Your abilities are nothing but an aberration for humanity.

-Y/N: If you hate us so much... Why are you working here? Why have you been making me dinner all these days?

- Wilson: What makes you think I've made you dinner, little girl?

-Y/N: I know how to distinguish homemade food from the garbage in the cafeteria - I looked at him seriously - I don't know why you act different from what you talk about, but I'm grateful for the time we've spent together. You've only scolded me and exploited me by working, but I think it's an experience that has helped me grow too - I looked at him defiantly - Let me take care of you back, the will-o'-the-wisp doesn't burn but it will keep you safe from the cold.

He clicked his tongue but let me use my skills to fight the low temperatures, in fact, the will-o'-the-wisp helped us finish the task when it started to get dark and the light was starting to get scarce. I spent the whole afternoon cutting twigs and leaves to give shape to some bushes that absolutely no one had taken into account, but when I watched my temporary boss working with such impetus, I had no choice but to keep it up.

When Wilson was satisfied with the result, he went to pick up his backpack and tried to give me another wrapped sandwich. I stopped him and instead guided him to the inner courtyard, known as the Pentagon, where we were to have dinner. The man complained and gave me a hard time all the way there, but I was not going to stop trying to return the favor. That's the way I was brought up, I could be a weirdo and everything else, but I had to keep the shapes.

-Wilson: You should get out, tomorrow is the stupid dance nonsense and you will have a lot of things to prepare - he said, sitting down on a bench - From tomorrow I will finally be able to stop seeing your face beyond the corridors at the change of classes.

-Y/N: Have you seen me in the hallway and not greeted me? - I smiled - I like you, I also avoid greeting people I know, so I keep them at bay - I took out the tuppers and passed one to him - I made dinner today, take advantage - I said sitting down next to him and starting to eat.

I started eating without paying attention to his reaction when tasting the food, but I relaxed when I heard the sound of his cutlery colliding with the plate. It's not that I thought I was going to have a nice conversation with him, because even I didn't consider myself a woman of many words, but I did think that at least he would tell me something after passing the tupperware to him. I turned my gaze to him and found him covertly wiping away his tears. Was the food so horrible?

- Y/N: This... Mr. Wilson? Are you all right? - I asked worried.

-Wilson: It's bland, it lacks more seasoning, - he said in a grumpy tone.

-Y/N: I know, but my girlfriend likes it that way - I smiled - She has a small baby palate, so sometimes I have to spoil her - I shrugged.

-Wilson: - he looked at me and stopped eating - Why are you having dinner with me?

-Y/N: I don't know, being the last day punished by helping you I thought it would be a good idea by way of farewell - I looked at him and smiled slightly - I know that you don't like me, and that because of me you have had to deal with a lot of problems... But believe me when I say I'm sorry, it was never my intention to throw you down the stairs.

-Wilson: You know, I once had a daughter - she started telling me out of the blue - She was a beautiful girl, very vivacious and intelligent - he smiled slightly - Everyone in the neighborhood loved her, everyone wanted to be with her, and it was no wonder... The truth is that she was very charming, I'm not saying that because she was my daughter, surely you would have liked her too - he stared at me.

-Y/N: - I swallowed nervously before answering - I guess?

-Wilson: That's exactly why I lost her - he sighed.

-Y/N: Did she die for being beautiful?

- Wilson: No, you idiot! My daughter is more alive than you - he looked at me badly - It's just that she fell in love and I never saw her again. Alice met a guy in college, a mysterious and lonely guy, from the very beginning he gave me bad vibes. The boy turned out to be an outcast, specifically a werewolf - he looked at me again - I know you understand about the topic and I'm not going to be a bore by dragging this out any longer than necessary. The thing is, I got in his way because I thought he was a threat, and he, in a fit of rage, bit her.

-Y/N: Ufff, I know from experience that the bite of a wolf hurts - I sighed and looked him in the eyes - And besides it leaves a mark on you, it creates what is called a "bond" that unites them for life.

-Wilson: That's why I never saw Alice again - he cleared his throat and continued eating - And that's why I started working here, hoping that one day I would find out something about her whereabouts.

-Y/N: It must be hard. Knowing your daughter is out there somewhere and not being able to hear from her - I looked at him with compassion - I wish I could do something to help you, but unfortunately I don't think I can. It must have been a long time since that and there will no longer be any trail to follow to look for her.

-Wilson: I didn't tell you this story to make you feel sorry for me - he looked me in the eyes - Nor am I looking for help for something that has no remedy, I know it's impossible to see her again at this point.

-Y/N: Then why did you tell me about it? - I asked confused.

-Wilson: Because all the rage I've been accumulating over the years towards the excluded has led me to commit a terrible act - he sighed and returned the tupperware to me with his trembling hands - I was crying because I couldn't be more remorseful, I've tried not to empathize with you during this time, but you remind me so much of Alice - his lip began to tremble as if he was going to burst into tears once again - Forgive me, Y/N... This old man has committed the greatest betrayal of all.

-Y/N: Why are you saying that? !! - I asked worried - What's wrong? What have you done? - I got up nervously and stood in front of him.

- Wilson: The dance tomorrow... It will be a total massacre because I have contacted the Hunters - he looked down at the ground.

- Y/N: The hunters? - I asked confused - Who are they?

-Wilson: - he looked at me with tears in his eyes - Hunters of supernatural creatures, they are going to come for all of you - he said in a trembling voice.
