CHAPTER 18

Y/N'S POV

Enid was touching the screen of her mobile phone while I was watching through the people walking. We were waiting for breakfast to be served when Enid proposed to take a photo to immortalize the moment. To be honest, I didn't really like taking pictures of myself but I was aware that refusing to do it would lead to an argument with the blonde. And I preferred to save it.

-Enid: OMG - she smiled while looking at the screen - It's our first picture together! Should I upload it to Instagram? !! - she said excitedly.

-Y/N: As you wish - I looked at her - Although I wouldn't do it, it would be ugly to be told something for going out there after dumping Ajax.

-Enid: Right - she wiped the smile off her face - Then it will be just for us, more personal.

Just then the waiter appeared with our order and we started to have breakfast eagerly, we were hungry. Anyone would think that being a werewolf, she would eat in a coarse and vulgar way, however she was quite a lady handling the cutlery. She didn't even eat the doughnut with her hands, she said she didn't want to get the icing on her precious claws.

-Y/N: No one would think that you are a she-wolf - I let out a giggle - You are very fine and flirtatious.

- Enid: Well, most of you have the wrong idea about canines - she made a face at me - They always say that felines are much cleaner - she rolled her eyes.

-Y/N: Don't be offended, I also belong to the canine family - I smiled - I'm on your team, although not much on the dog one.

- Enid: So? Don't you like them?

-Y/N: It's literally my natural enemy - I reminded her - You know, sheepdogs chase foxes that try to attack the sheep flock...

-Enid: In that case, since I am a wolf - she said proudly - You should be afraid of me much more - she pulled out her claws playfully.

-Y/N: Enid - I crossed my arms while smiling sideways - Even if you pull out your claws, I feel like I'm being threatened by a simple cupcake.

-Enid: You are playing hard to get, huh? - smirked and frowned - I can be very intimidating if I want, Y/N - she got up from her seat and grabbed me by the collar of my T-shirt bringing our faces closer - See? - she growled at me pulling out his fangs.

Inevitably, my gaze traveled from her amazing blue eyes to her lips adorned with pointed fangs several times. I didn't react or say anything, but my heart started beating a little faster when I saw myself in that situation.

-Y/N: - I grinned - I love your fangs, Enid.

The girl did not take long to back up and sit back in her seat, then she took her smoothie and drank from it trying to hide the color that had taken over her cheeks. Honestly I didn't care, with fangs or without them, with a frown or a wide smile on her face, Enid seemed to me... Harmless and attractive in every way.

We just had breakfast and headed to the Jericho Square where we had agreed to meet up with Brooke. I was anxious to own the damn books at once. I waited at the fountain with Enid while we listened to one of her favorite kpop bands, Seventeen. I didn't understand anything they were saying but I recognized them because in Japan they were also popular among young people.

-Y/N: There she is - I said getting up from my seat - Hey, Brooke!

- Enid: The time has come... Do you think it's okay for us to sneak into the director's house? - she looked at me worried.

-Y/N: We are not "sneaking in", technically we have been invited by her daughter - I smiled amused - so she won't be able to reproach us at all if he discovers us.

- Brooke: Good morning, Y/N - she looked at Enid - And Enid - she smiled - I didn't expect you to come accompanied.

-Y/N: Enid and I are a team, we go everywhere together practically - I said without knowing that that had made the blonde really happy - Is your house very far away?

- Brooke: No, don't worry. We'll be there in ten minutes - she smiled - Besides my parents won't be there. My father had business to settle at the town hall and my mother is at the academy where you two are supposed to be - she let out a giggle.

-Enid: On weekends we can leave the academy as long as we have permission - she corrected - To all this... Have we asked anyone's permission to come?

-Y/N: - I stopped walking and looked at her - I didn't know we needed permission.

- Enid: Oh, great! Just know that once we return, we will be punished - she shook her head.

-Y/N: You should had told me before - I shrugged - I'm the new one, I don't know how things work here. Stand by... Why are you smiling?

-Enid: Because I knew you weren't going to worry about something as insignificant as asking the director for permission - she looked at me and smiled victoriously - So I took care of that matter myself yesterday - she winked at me - You're welcome - she said walking ahead of me following Brooke.

-Y/N: Wow... - I said impressed while looking at Enid's back.

We arrived at the Duncan's residence and immediately discovered that they had settled in relatively recently. There were still some moving boxes scattered around the living room, so for a moment I was afraid that Brooke wouldn't know about the whereabouts of the books. Luckily for us everything was under control and she made us wait in her room while she looked for them in the safe of her parents' room.

-Enid: It's rare that we are alone in a room that is not our own - she commented.

-Y/N: Yes, and that this place is just as colorful as your room - I added - but it doesn't stink of your perfume. So it feels strange...

Silence had never bothered me, in fact since I was sent to Japan I had been forced to meditate for an hour a day. According to my grandparents, meditation would help me connect spiritually with my surroundings and that would enhance my kitsune skills. So being alone with Enid didn't bother me and I also didn't feel like I should talk to avoid an awkward moment. However, the wolf was bringing her hand to mine "covertly" and with her little finger she gave me a little touch capturing my attention.

I brought my gaze to her hand playing with my fingers before raising it to her eyes that were looking at me intensely while smiling slightly. And there was that strange feeling once again, I felt that warmth take over my cheeks again for no apparent reason. But it didn't bother me either, I was actually enjoying that new excitement... It was exciting and made my heart race.

- Enid: You know one thing... I have read in an article that we kiss much sooner with our eyes than with our lips - she commented in a voice much more serious than usual - What do you think about that?

I swallowed thickly before turning my gaze to her hand playing with mine and then back to her face that was waiting for an expectant response. What kind of situation was that? What was I supposed to do at a time like this? I clenched my jaw and pondered a response as I went over every detail of her face.

-Y/N: I think if that article were true... - I watched as her lips parted while mine tightened doubtfully - If that were true, then you and I would have already kis...-

- Brooke: I'm already here! - she said entering her room - It was not difficult to open the safe, because they had the date of my birthday as a password - she looked at us strangely - Are you all right? You look like a tomato.

-Enid: The temperature in Jericho is quite higher than the one we have in the academy - she got up and opened the window - That's probably why.

I sighed and put a hand to my cheek to check that my body temperature had indeed increased. I pressed my lips together before looking at Enid and finding her looking at me with a different glow in her gaze that made me look at Brooke to reassure myself. I decided not to over think what had just happened and concentrated on what we had gone to look for, the books about hydes.

-Y/N: Thanks Brooke, with this we will be at peace - I said holding the books - Why did your mother have them stored here?

- Brooke: Well, I don't know, it was Dad who kept them there - she shrugged - Maybe even my mother is not aware of the existence of those books.

- Enid: And why do you? - she tried not to sound too aggressive or intrusive with the question.

- Brooke: I knew that because I saw my dad put them in there, although I'm not quite sure what the hell hydes are. Is there any in Nevermore?

-Enid: If there was, we'd have a problem - said seriously - So we're investigating to make sure there isn't - she smiled - Don't worry about it anyway, you have a werewolf and a kitsune to protect you - she pulled out her claws.

-Y/N: It's just like she just said - I smiled - By giving us these books, you have helped to maintain peace and tranquility in the academy.

- Brooke: Great then - she smiled - Uhm... Do you want us to do something together while you're here?

-Y/N: Something like what? - I asked uncertainly.

- Brooke: We can watch a movie, play board games, I don't know... That kind of thing - she offered us with a huge smile.

-Y/N: I don't know-

- Enid: We signed up! - said Enid excitedly - What games do you have?

- Brooke: Monopoly, chess, trivial, UNO...

Oh great, wasting the rest of Saturday doing teenage stuff wasn't on my list of plans. I could have gone back to Nevermore and started reading the books as soon as possible, but no... The little wolf wanted to stay to play, and I couldn't refuse when I met her blue eyes and the pout she was making begging me to stay. Did she want to play? Then we would play.
