Hogwarts: A thousand years labyrinth

At the very end of the corridor hung a portrait of a very fat woman in pink silk.

"Password?" she said.

"Caput Draconis," said Percy and the portrait swung forward to reveal a round hole in the wall.

They all scrambled through it and found themselves in the Gryffindor common room, a cosy, round room that was full of squashy armchairs.

Percy directed the girls through one door to their dormitory and boys through another.

Neville looked at the door leading to girls dormitory and wistfully thought about the completion rate he would get to explore them.

Don't misunderstand his intentions!

He only wanted to complete the mission faster and claim the rewards.

At the top of a spiral staircase, obviously in one of the towers_ they found their beds at last: five four posters hung with deep red velvet curtains. Their trunks had already been brought up. Too tired to talk much, they pulled on their pyjamas and fell into bed.

Neville checked his Hogwarts Explorer mission progress before he fell into a deep slumber.

And he was shocked to find it at only 7 percent completion rate.

If the common room and dormitory are only worth this much then he was in danger of dying!

Fine! I will wait and see for a while and if need be I'll have to take some drastic measures!

The next day

Classes were hard to find at Hogwarts;

Neville completely agreed with the above statement.

There were a hundred and fourty-two staircases at Hogwarts; wide, sweeping ones, narrow, rickety ones; some that led to somewhere different on a Friday; some with a vanishing step halfway up that you had to remember to jump. Then there were doors that won't open up unless you asked politely, or tickled them exactly in the right place, there were doors that were not really doors but solid walls just pretending to be doors.

It was very hard to remember that where anything was, because it all seemed to move around a lot. The people in the portraits kept going to visit each other and he was sure that the coat of armour could walk.

The ghosts did not help much either.

Nearly Headless Nick was always happy to point new Gryffindors to the right direction but Peeves was always trying to bully the students with his never ending pranks.

If you met him when you were late for class he would drop waste paper baskets on your head, pull rugs from your feet, pelt you with bits of chalk.

Even worse than Peeves if it were possible was their caretaker, Argus Filch

He knew the secret passageways of the school better than anyone except the Weasley twins and could pop up as suddenly as any of the ghosts.

Mrs Norris, a scrawny dust coloured creature with bulging, lamp like eyes just like Filch, patrolled the corridors alone.

Break one rule in front of her and Filch will appear wheezing in two seconds.

Needless to say, all the students hated him and it was the dearest ambition of many to give Mrs Norris a good kick.
