Eli Ni, the human refinement cauldron

Now this is surprising! This old man isn't actually half bad! The first test was for us to refine rank 3 silent grounds Gu. The recipe was quite complicated and even I could barely manage it with my attainment. It wasn't hard per say, just annoying really. Baby Dao Alchemist can, of course, make it instantly without me needing to do anything, but This is a test of skill. I would cheat if losing cost me benefits, but it won't.

The only thing I will gain is fame from this. If I lose, I will tie this old man and be acknowledged as his equal, even though I am not even 20 and he is literally 83 years old or just flat out topple him and win more fame as a generation toppling genius.

His attainment is really close to quasi-grandmaster and he has experience and skill to back him up. Maybe I should extract some refinement thoughts from him once I fully refine their immortal Gu? I lack experience and I might increase my attainment level if I rob him of all of his refinement thoughts.

I already have a rough estimate for the costs of this killer move and boy is this going to work! I really need to raise my luck and wisdom path attainments. Sagely luck is too useful to not make full use of. It even gives me instant inspiration on demand.

My plans are settled and I can't just nope out, so I'll just talk about my victory and have a little fun. "Elder, your techniques are quite weird and unique, would you mind explaining them to this youngster." He looked surprised at my sudden change in attitude and nodded.

Being asked for advice by talented people will make anyone feel important and respected, so it is better to be polite and strong, than strong and arrogant. Being polite in general and having basic respect for others is important in any situation, but it is much more effective when you don't have to be polite. Beggars are treated like trash for not being polite, while rich get praised for showing common human courtesy. That's law of this world and it always works!

Example is this old man. He started rambling as soon as I asked him "This technique is called sprinkling. You need to drop the ingredients onto the fusion with precision and correct timing. This is more instinct than knowledge even. All who have refined Gu for their entire lives can use their developed intuition to sense when a Gu worm or material is supposed to be added and their body will naturally follow this instinct!"

He threw his arms up and all the tens of ingredients fell out of his hands and landed onto the refinement light as if he was sprinkling salt onto some food. The light flickered slightly and a deformed Silent Ground Gu appeared.

Quite impressive, but I can instantly refine Gu, so the refining part of refinement path isn't that important for me really. I just need to invent recipes and refine it once, but I won't need to do that for a while, as there are too many Gu to count, much less run out of options with.

"That was quite interesting elder. I apologize, but I cannot present such a display. I will try to better myself in the future, but for now, you have won the speed part of our contest."

The old man smiled and patted my shoulder. "I might have misjudged you, youngster. You are not arrogant, only confident and your capabilities truly warrant this confidence. Not a lot of youngsters can refine rank 2 gu worms, much less rank 3 ones. Never give up on your path!"

I cupped my fists, nodded my head and moved on. I am going to extract his mind later on, so no point in asking for any more insights. Or not. His knowledge isn't worth much and I don't want to change my plans...

The next rounds weren't speed based and were knowledge based. The second was to improve a recipe. We both worked on the same recipe, but my improvements were superior. Attainment level cannot be gapped by pure experience. If it could, then he would be a quasi-grandmaster in refinement path, not a normal master.

And the last one was using minimal materials to refine as many rank 2 Gu worms as possible. The final score ended with me refining 17 rank 2 Gu worms, while the old man barely did 15. The winner in all but speed and time they have lived is, most definitely, me.

"I would like to congratulate you, youngster. It seems you have truly bested this old man. I would like to give you something." Even though he said that, I could see the light in his eyes dim continuously for the last 2 rounds. This old man really lost the will to live because a kid is better at refining Gu worms than him. That is... pretty sad actually, but he still is kinda pathetic.

With him out of the way, it is time to begin experimenting. With this fame of mine, I can most definitely get some young woman in my bedroom and with a few sweet words, I can most definitely convince them to bleed a little, so it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out this 'human refinement' method.

Who is someone worth taming here? The best place to look would probably be the mission are- never mind!

You might be asking, 'what changed?' What changed is, that I realized how famous I have become.

I walked out of the stadium and there are at least 30 girls of all ages waiting for me there. There are teenagers, middle aged women, about 3 grandmas and 1 really good looking guy and about 7 beggars. Okay, which one of them looks easy?

That big busty girl is probably here thinking men can't resist big chests. That arrogant smile and emphasis she is putting on it are dead give aways. Good for manipulating, but I can't afford any long term investment.

That innocent looking girl was probably convinced to invite me by her clan. There is no way she could think I would pick her over the more well endowed girls. She is most likely the best her clan can do. Her innocence can be used, but I would feel bad and it ain't worth it.

These grandmas are probably also with the beggars, who think I'll show off my generosity and kindness in front of the young girls to up my street cred. I so want to punch them for being clever, but punching them and not giving them money is benefitless, while I technically have infinite money and am here mostly for fame. Imma be generous then.

Found youuuuu! I smiled at the girls and waved my hand, as I spotted my pray already! "Could you please spare some money for this poor man?!" I gave the beggars 10 spirit stones and smiled in kind. "There is no fate in this world worse than being at the mercy of another. Take this my fellow men and make the most of it. Don't waste your lives and make something out of yourselves, but now I have someone else who needs me, so make sure to never lose hope! I won't always be there to help you!"

That was extremely cheesy, but it works. I conveyed my message and these clever beggars understood it. 'Spread tales of my generosity and get a life. I won't be benevolent the next time!' I think some of the guys didn't get the message and were actually inspired by my speech. Meh, if it works it works.

Now, who is that little cupcake I see there? Pink cheeks from just looking at me and can barely lift her head. She is a little chubby with cute baby freckles all over her pink cheeks. The girl is probably barely 5foot 3 and is wearing a pink dress.

Fun fact, she is ungodly suspicious. She thinks she is clever, hiding behind all if that shame and cuteness, but I can read this piece of refinement attainment like a book!

I walked over to her and said "Hello there? Could I please ask for your name?" All the other girls gasped and whispered "He chose fatty Eli?", "This lucky bitch!", "How could he choose this little slut over a gentle mother!", "I'll kill the fucking white!" and "These whippersnapper have no taste in women!"... Seriously what the fuck are you three even here for?! I feel disgusted just thinking about what they are doing here. Are they just here to gossip or mess with me? Why are they fangirling over me then?! Go the fuck away!

My eyes narrow and I look at her like a hawk. "Miss Eli, would you like to accompany me? I would really like to have a conversation with you, if you are willing."

I extended my hand and she took it while shaking. I grabbed her hand gently, with attitude Gu exuding a comforting and kind feeling towards her.

I could feel her heartbeat through her finger tips and let me tell you, she is nervous beyond belief. He heart rate is double what it should be and her adrenaline levels are off the charts! She is so chaotic in both body and mind I can't even read her properly at this point. Now isn't that an interesting fact, eh? Disguising yourself by overexaggerating, quite clever, but this amount of strain would probably down a normal person with her physique, so I wonder how she is still standing.

I lead her back to my house, while a couple of girls sneakily followed behind us. I opened the door for her and let her enter before me. She walks in a bit fidgety, but what is up with that walk?

That walk is too perfect. She is spacing her steps well, she is a chaotic and a mess of emotions, but it is an organized mess of emotions. She is faking it! I am right, she is like me! She came from another world. From what I can tell, probably somewhere in the west. Doesn't matter tho. She is my experimental subject now. I will figure out her blood and her origin soon enough. She is in my domain and can't escape!

I bring her to my room and sit her down onto my bed. "Get undressed!" She looked at me genuinely stunned. Weren't expecting this, now were you? "I-I..." There we go! That's the cold eyes I were looking for! She finally dropped the act. Her arm stretched towards my heart and I could feel her killing intent. Unluckily for her, a small golden shield appeared where her claws were going to pierce my heart and I heard a clanking sound.

"There we go! That is more like it! Now, start talking and don't hide behind your mask. Who are you? Where are you from? What technique did you just use? And finally, let me put my clothes back on. Letting a disgusting mortal like you see me naked is already a sin, much less staying naked."

I am not really racist against mortals, but she needs to know her place! I can't afford the chance of her getting smart ideas. I may have a complete advantage, but she is too weird.

My boner instantly went away and I put my clothes back on. "Now, explain your story!" She looked at me a little hesitant and said "My real name is Chu Ko Nu nd I co-" "That's a lie!" I swung my arm and a moon blade cut all the toes off her left leg! "AAAAAA-mhhphfh!"

Like I would let her scream! I put my hand over her mouth and silenced her, so no one gets alerted. She struggled and did that weird thing with her hand but I just crunched her muscles, tore them a bit and she couldn't even move afterwards. For a fat fuck, she sure has some decent muscles, another dead give away of her identity.

"That is light punishment. Don't lie to me again. I can detect any lie you tell me, half-truths also don't work. The most leniency I am giving you is you can shorten your sentences and give me less information that way. Any more disobedience and I will show you why mortals shouldn't stand up to Gu masters, especially ones of my caliber!"

She nodded her head and said "My name is Leslie Pines and I am from another world. I worked for a government as an assassin with extremely intense training. My muscles here are a combination of the hidden tiger and pig armour arts called dragon tortoise training manual. I used to be a different type of cultivator in my old world. Well my original goal was completed, I got an experimental subject to research this weird 'Human refinement' method from. I don't think anyone will miss a normal human girl and I can feel something inside of me saying she has a really important role to play in this world's causality.
