Chapter 7.9 - Rika - Broken Wings

Fitz and I agreed on a plan and we immediately initiated it in order to save the group of students. With my electricity ability, I bolted my way and prevented an execution that was about to happen. The demon was surprised of my appearance. To which I immediately shocked the demon literally by shooting out lightning from just a simple pointing finger. The other demons then finally reacted as they tried to take me out. But they won't have enough time to do any of that as I immediately took out a 10 cent coin and flicked it, launching it into who knows wherever it go through. The coin went through the demon's head that was in front of me.

Another one was approaching me but I made sure to charge up my entire body with electrical charge. Just as the other demon was getting near me, I shot out a flurry of lightning bolt using one of my hand, all five fingers. That technique pretty much toasted the demon in a matter of seconds. As more of the other demons nearby were distracted by me, I glanced over the students and saw that Fitz was releasing them from their chains.

"You'll be alright. Just stay calm." Fitz assures the students as she breaks the chain using her wind magic.

Wind can become resilient and sharp if it is concentrated into a small area of usage. The concentrated wind could create sharp blades. It's something that Fitz developed herself after she watched White cut through his enemy using his dagger. That's as far as what she told me of course. I would be surprised if Fitz wasn't telling the whole story.

But in any case, Fitz successfully freed everyone there.

"Thank you very much." A regal looking girl thanked Fitz.

"Name's Fitz." Fitz introduced herself, "can you fight?"

The girl then reached out her arm toward the group of demons that was surrounding me. Her eyes began to glow brightly as she cried, "Absolute Order!"

All of the demons that was surrounding me suddenly stopped moving. I was able to figure out what just happened after I looked at Fitz and the other girl. With the demons standing still in place, I charged up myself and discharge the electricity all over the place, frying up all of the surrounding demons. They all dropped down quick.

I looked at the girl with an impressed expression, "Nice assist...I'm Rika Lightning."

She then replied, "Sam Maximus. Cardinal of Administrator Magic." She nodded and then asked us, "Who are you guys? I'm not familiar with you guys at all."

"We're not students from here. What's important right now we're on your side." explained Fitz.

Sam was unsure as she told us, "Really...well what are you guys doing here? Aren't the area blocked by the military?"

I walked to her and said, "It's a long story but we have a question for you."

"What do you guys want?" she asked.

Fitz then questioned her by saying, "Do you know of a Cyclone White here?"

"Cyclone White?" Sam looks up to the sky and sighed, "I think you guys are a bit too late on that. He's not here right now..."

Fitz then got a bit sad, "Well that's too bad..."

Before we even gave up on this, I decided to ask another question to Sam, "Do you know anyone who would know about his location?"

"Location...perhaps..." She began to think and answered, "Perhaps you can try looking for Zenith Feathers. I'm sure she's the only one who would know what's going on with these mess. Last I saw of her was when she hung out with a girl named Mei."

"Mei?" I know that name, "So she's here already..."

"You know her?" asked Sam.

I nodded and explained, "It's basically this...we're from the same high school as White and this matter that you guys are stuck in has something to do with whatever happened to our high school several years ago. We may know the solution so leave this to us."

"I see..." Sam understood our situation. "I would bring you to her but I don't know where she has been hiding. It's been 2 days already since I last saw her."

Then suddenly, "I can help you guys." One of the students volunteered.

It was a white haired girl that was wearing a dapper looking coat. She readjust her coat as she walked towards us.

"Almost mistaken you for a guy." Fitz was very honest.

To which I elbowed her for being too honest. The girl doesn't seem offended as she readjusted her hair and smiled at us.

She then told us, "It's alright. I don't mind that too much." She sounded as if she was strict but at the same time gentle. "The name is Izzy Nova Crystallia. In any case, I can guide you through this campus."

"Hey I can do that too." Sam tried to volunteer as well.

But she was denied once Izzy said, "You're our Cardinal, Sam. You have a duty to take care of the rest of the class, right?"

"But I..." Sam gave up.

Izzy reassures her, "Don't worry, Sam. I'll be fine if I'm with these two. In fact, I'll be fine on my own."

Sam then raised one of her eyebrows and said, "Yeah, always the showoff aren't you? Well...stay safe, you guys." Sam bids us farewell.

With the demon infestation was still going on, Izzy brought us on a 'tour' around our campus. While doing that, we also took out the demons that was on our way. Honestly speaking, this Izzy girl was impressive as well considering that she was only using her multiple magic swords. In just a few minutes later, we finally saw where Zenith and Mei could be hiding. It looks like Mei was seen at the rooftop of the library building. She was probably overlooking the campus. We came as soon as possible and Mei immediately recognized me. The three of us got up to the roof of the building and that's where we finally met our old friend.

"What are you guys doing here? I thought we're in lockdown." Mei was surprises.

"I had to break a few rules." I smiled as a small particle of electricity was flowing on my right hand.

"You're always the one brave enough to break a few rules even back then." She laughed.

Fitz then told her, "I'm surprised she hasn't gotten herself in trouble in any of those at all."

"Well there was one incident where I was trapped in a room with White..." I remembered something funny.

"You what?!" Suddenly, both Izzy and Fitz said that together at the same time.

And just after that another voice was heard, "What do you mean about that?" A small silver streaked girl was standing near the roof's door together with a little fairy on her shoulder.

Mei simply laughed as I think of a way to make the situation better. In the end, what came out of my mouth was filled with inaccuracies, "It was just a mere accident. The two of us got stuck inside a room. We eventually got out later that evening. It's all fine and dandy. It's just...a funny memory. That's all."

I nervously smiled, hoping that lie work against them.

Thankfully enough, Mei steps in and introduced the silver streaked girl, "Alright everyone, this is Zenith Feathers. Zenith, this is Rika Lightning, White's former..." she stumbled for a moment and said, "...classmate."

She nodded and then turned to Fitz and said, "Nice to meet you again, Fitz. How are you?"

Fitz then cheerfully greeted her, "It's been great, Zen Zen. How are things with White?"

"White..." she suddenly looked down.

"Not again Mama. You don't need to be sad Mama." The little fairy spoke.

"...this is Recordia, White and Zenith's...fairy, I guess..." Mei tries her best to explain the fairy.

We don't really know what happened but it took some time for Mei to fully explain the whole situation to us as well as some assist from Izzy explaining some other details that Mei might have missed. We finally calmed ourselves down as we all sat down in a circle together.

I had a few laughs in between, "I see. So that's how it goes."

"Indeed it was, he didn't even notice my advancement. Can you believe how dense he can be sometimes." Fitz was so deep into her stories.

"Well despite being dense and all, he seems to be very loyal once he has made a choice." Izzy was also having fun.

"In the end, Mama wins the war." Recordia was supporting Zenith.

"I'm glad he has a lot of friendly friends here." Zenith was smiling as well.

And then came in the mood killer from Mei, "Alright ladies, I think we have enough of gossiping about that idiot, okay."

"You call him idiot?" I wondered, "So even you have some history with him, huh?" I ended up teasing her.

Mei's face quickly turned red as she looks away from us. Trying her best to forget about whatever happened when they first met back then. We all had our laughs and cheers even during this troubled times but it has been a couple of days already and it looks like none of the students have been slaughtered or killed since the first day it happened. The demons were slowly getting hungry and began to eat each other. All we had to do was to stay away from them and survive before they do.

That would be absolutely easy but that's not the case for us unfortunately. All of the fun time was but a short blissful life as the terror finally sets in once again by the appearance of a certain blonde haired girl.

"My, my, look what we got here..." A blonde long haired girl suddenly appeared, floating in the air not far from us.

I can't help but notice that her black dress was stunningly lovely but at the same time she was the one who was responsible for all of this according to Zenith, Izzy and Mei. So this was Yumiko. The one who can summon the demons. She even summoned them back then during The Seven Month War...despicable.

Yumiko continued, "Is this some kind of meet up with all of that useless dude's crushes?" She went further in and said, "Aside from the useless bird there, you guys are basically The Rejects, right?"

"Mama is not useless!" Recordia suddenly fly forward.

But Yumiko all of sudden, "Shut up, you dumb fairy."

Bang!

Smokes suddenly came out of Yumiko's flintlock. There was no blood at all. There was however wings. Wings of a fairy, fluttering about as it slowly glides toward Zenith's hand. Recordia's body glows and diminishes herself into small Infinitum Energy particles. The energies then slowly fade away from Zenith's grasp as she tried to not let her go away...But it was for naught as the energy goes away and it will forever be lost in the dark...

"Recordia..." Zenith was heartbroken.

"Yumiko!" Mei yelled at her.

"How dare you do this! Why do you keep doing this to her?!" I was furious.

"You want a piece of me? Why don't you entertain me with my demons, then?' She then summoned a bunch of demons that has surrounded us.

"God damn it." Izzy was annoyed. "This bitch..."

Everyone else but Zenith was getting themselves ready to fight. Zenith on the other hand kneels to the floor as she began to lose her consciousness due to the shock of Recordia's death. Recordia even calls her Mama. If I have to make a guess those two are the closest of them all. Her mind kept on getting tormented by Yumiko and I don't think it's supposed to be funny at all. Yumiko has gone too far and she deserves to be punished...

I hope you'll be able to hang in there, Zenith Feathers...you may just be our only hope...
