CHAPTER 22

Dear Diary,

It's been 2 weeks since Kaycee became sick.Chenna and I are getting very worried for her.She also insisted to attend class today.We got no choice but to let her.

We were walking throught the hallway when Kaycee stopped so we looked at her.We panicked when her nose bled.She also gasped for air!

We panicked and took her to the Hospital.

"O my god.What's happening to Kaycee?" Chenna wept.Tears escaped from eyes too.I knew at that very moment that Kaycee is hiding something from us.I caressed her back while weeping.Later,the doctor came and approached us.

"The patient has stage 4 chronic lymphocytic leukemia.It's already a month since she reached the stage so I'm sad to say that...she only have days left to live." The doctor said apologetically.

Chenna and I hugged each while crying. "N-no,no...you're lying.We don't believe you!" I yelled.But the doctor shook his head still wearing his apologetic look.We cried hard.Harvey came running.I immediately hugged him and cried on his chest.

"I heared what happened." He said while caressing my hair.He kissed my forehead and comforted me.

We went to the ICU afterwards.We could hear the sounds of the life supporting machines inside.Kaycee noticed us so she smiled at us.I cried when I remembered what the doctor said.Chenna did the same.Harvey and his friends were just following us.

Chenna and I ran to Kaycee's bed and hugged her.The room was filled with our loud cries.Kaycee is too young to succumb. "Why?Why did you hid it from us?" Chenna asked between sobbing.

"I'm sorry...I don't want you to get worried of me." She said.Her voice was broken and hoarsed.I also noticed the pain and suffering on her face.She must be really tired.

"Still,you should've told us." I uttered while sobbing.

We still tried our very best to understand Kaycee's reason.Harvey's friends...Jason and Seelder,tried making jokes to lighten up the atmosphere.After an hour or more,Kaycee fell asleep.

"I'll just go to the CR." I said.They nodded their head except for Harvey who stared at me with doubt.I ignored it and left the room instantly.My tears immediately fell as I closed the door.I cried silently.Seconds later,someone hugged me from my back.

"Ssshh.Everything happens for a reason,Zarine.Everything will be okay." He said in a mellow tone.

I turned to him and hugged him.I cried on his chest again.
