Intruder

Her breath was shaky, her heart feeling like it was about to explode. It would seem that the intruder was pretending all of this was a game. She quickly hid in a cabinet nearby. "Come out, come out, wherever you are!" Being scared like Poppy was right now, was one of the worst feelings in the world. She remembered that a couple years ago, she took lessons of self defense from YouTube. She quit because she ended up twisting her ankle, and spending 16 hours in an emergency room. She tried to remember at that moment what she was able to do. "A simple punch to the groin? Grab the waist and twist?" She got lost in her thoughts, one of her worst weaknesses. The intruder still sounded far away, so she quietly climbed out of the cabinet, and hid behind the island in the middle of the kitchen. "Think Poppy, think! What can be useful?" Looking around the room frantically she thought up a plan. Using some of the glass that she saw on the counter, she would use a distraction. She grabbed a kitchen knife and threw the glass across the room. 'Tip tap tip tap'. Running footsteps she heard, "perfect" she thought to herself.

She ran, as fast as she could. She ran into the city, she ran away from home. She ran to never go back, and to never be found. She was starting to get hungry, "Shoot! Only 50 cents. Not enough to buy anything. Trash? Is this really what my life has resorted to?" She looked through the trash, but found nothing. Breaking down, hungry, she didn't even know where her parents were. She started to sob. She looked for help. She looked for someone. A distant voice called for her. Her own voice. "Stop crying like a coward. Go and look for the people who took everything from you. Go and find them. Go and take everything back." And that is exactly what she was going to do. Before she did anything though, a male voice, a familiar one. One that almost sounded exactly like the one from her house. The intruder. She hid, behind the trash cans. "A man, about 6 foot 1. Brown hair, green eyes. He looked pretty rich. Why would he want to be at her house then?" She thought to herself.

"I thought she would be right here! Her mother is at the palace for a reason." She gasped, he just said where her mother was! This was the happiest thing she heard. "Find her. And treat her kindly!" She had always been clumsy, but this time, it was the worst time. Leaning on the trash can, the lid came off. A large crash was made. The man looked at her, and smiled. "Men! Come here, and get our guest." A sinister smile appeared on his face. Before she knew it, she was cornered. A dark rag covered her face, and before she could do anything about it, she was asleep.
