The guy that ate mayonnaise covered rice

As Emma was trying to lessen her thoughts so she could soundly drift off to sleep she couldn't help thinking about wanting to get mature, if only to get Mr Thomas to look at her as a woman, not just a little girl.

However, to Emma, maturity could mean a lot of things, but also nothing. She couldn't think of what it meant to her to "be more mature". She could tell easily when someone was "more mature" than her, but she couldn't tell what it was exactly that made them "more mature". She knew it was and wasn't something to do with age, she knew as people grew up they slowly matured, whereas, Emma also knew people younger than her who was said to be extremely mature.

Even knowing age helped with maturity, it wasn't an option for Emma, she couldn't wait around for years to win Mr Thomas' heart after all. She needed a relatively reliable way of maturing quickly. Her mind circled back to the start of her brainstorming, it was useless.

She knew age helped, however, this wasn't an option. Hmm, dressing more grown-up? Maybe but… that wasn't very her. Adopting a more mature personality? Perhaps this would work, but at the same time isn't that like tricking the people who liked her for her fake persona? Emma could stop indulging in her childish habits, such as eating too many sugary things? Stop playing the otome games she likes? Read more books and study hard? Wear make-up?

She knew one thing for sure. She'd definitely seem more mature if she could stop being such an air-head. What mature lady goes around tripping down the stairs and bumping into people?

That reminded her, what did happen to the guy that she bumped into? After she bumped into him she noticed something strange. Other than the hand holding his coffee, he also seemed to have really thick cheese or something completely coating his, what looked like rice. Honestly, it didn't look like cheese in the slightest, it had more of a resemblance to mayonnaise, but who on earth would dump most of a jar of mayonnaise on top of, what seemed to be cold rice?

Emma pushed away these unnecessary thoughts and calmed her mind in an attempt to fall asleep. With the soothing sounds of her clock ticking slowly and methodically and the soft but sure sounds of hearty laughter coming through the floorboards Emma drifted peacefully off to sleep.

A guy had been carefully walking out of a coffee shop as he saw a girl, a little bit younger than him, fall down a set of stairs. In any other circumstances, he would've quickly rushed to be by her side and help her up. After all, any good gentleman should always take care of ladies, whether they knew them or not.

However, he was holding coffee in one hand, and his combination attempt #63. He looked around helplessly for a place to quickly set down his belongings to lend a hand to the girl. He found no such place and decided to just hold both things with one arm and hope for the best, when he turned back to the area he saw her in and noticed she'd disappeared. He was slightly confused and thought he had imagined the entire thing, when suddenly someone was bumping into him, almost knocking them both over.

He tried to regain his balance and stay standing, but as she was still clinging to him, in fear of falling, and not letting go he couldn't keep them both upright and they tumbled to the ground. His newly bought coffee spilt over his tactical cloak, as he was wearing an alarming amount of layers he didn't get burned and only ended up feeling the heat of the coffee through his clothes.

He quickly looked at the situation, the person that bumped into him was holding their head and not moving. He quickly sat up, somehow still managing to keep his box in his hands intact, without touching the ground. He lightly patted the person's shoulder and asked if they were okay. The person stirred slightly then hastily got up, she picked up her spilt things and jumped up to apologise.

When they had both stood up and the person had stopped bowing their head in shame they looked up at the guy's face. The guy realised it was a girl, she looked over the guy and whilst apologising profusely promised to get his coat dry-cleaned and buy him a new coffee.

He started protesting, saying it was alright and that she should instead worry about being more careful in the future so as to not cause herself or others any harm. She quickly rejected his words and somewhat forced him out of his coat and took it to the local area to pay to dry-clean. She subsequently lined up for coffee from the shop he'd just bought the coffee from, however, a line started gathering during their incident due to rush hour closing in. She didn't let this phase her and gave him the coffee and the time and receipt she had gotten for dry-cleaning.

She didn't let him get a word in edgewise and after telling him when to collect his coat she hurriedly continued on her way. This encounter couldn't be described as anything other than humorous to the guy, what a funny girl. He looked away from the direction she disappeared in, instead of focusing his attention on his box.

The box had long lost its lid, it was also badly scratched in various areas causing it to look old and worn out. However, it held a special sentimental value to the guy, it had stood by him throughout most if not all of his existing experiments. It was currently holding mayonnaise combination #63, this combination was the use of a heap of mayonnaise added to a batch of cold rice. It had been warm at some point but he'd forgotten to re-heat it before beginning this experiment so he'd just settled for cold rice. It didn't make much of a difference to him anyway.

He entered one of the stores he was surrounded by, the guy left the store with a free plastic fork and looked around for a place to sit. He ended up looking at the stairs at which the girl had tripped down before. This suddenly reminded him that the one that tripped down the stairs, and the one that bumped into him were without a doubt the same girl.

He sighed mentally that he could've forgotten to ask if she was okay after her fall. He was just so momentarily worried about his box surviving the fall that he had forgotten. He shook his head slightly and let it go, it wasn't a big deal anyway.

He walked over to and sat on the stairs before digging into his breakfast. With one bite his eyebrows twitched slightly and he barely noticeably narrowed his eyes. Nasty. As he had expected, he continued eating 'till there was nothing left and smiled without reason. He just felt like smiling and there was no reason not to.

For a while I wondered how to mature my mc, I was thinking about making her act more mature, but that seemed too unrealistic. Instead I decided to go with how I, myself felt. I feel unsure, how exactly do you classify yourself as mature? How does someone become mature? Is it the clothes you wear? Your interests? Your friends? Your looks or personality? I guess it’s more how you view yourself and your attitude towards things, that’s just my thoughts though. You may think differently.
