My absent minded thoughts

As Emma got back to her room she instantly went to check her phone. As she turned it on, her phone showed notifications which were her messages from Ren.

She quickly opened the messaging app and read the messages,

11:56 [Mommy Ren💖]: Ah btw I can't come today

11:56 [Mommy Ren💖]: So don't wait up and have a good day 😘

Emma could only sigh, what else should she have expected, 9 out of 10 times Renée would always blow off the plans they made. It didn't really bother her anymore as she was long used to Ren's flakiness.

The bell rang signalling the end of class, it was Monday and all the girls flocked around Mr Thomas. They wanted to invite him out again, "Mr Thomas, any you doing anything this afternoon?" One girl asked. "I happen to have plans, yes." He replied without much thought. "Oh, what're you going to be doing?" The girl asked again.

Mr Thomas looked as if he was debating whether or not to reply, before relenting and saying, "Well… I'm having dinner with my girlfriend." The girls looked at him in shock, then looked at one another as if confirming what they just heard. "You… You've got a girlfriend?" One girl asked with a pained voice. "That's correct, I'm quite sure that's what I just said." The girls surrounding him looked as though they'd been slapped across the face. Which, in some sense, they had been, they'd been slapped by the cold, hard truth.

Emma who wasn't eavesdropping, but ended up hearing their conversation anyway was also somewhat surprised. Now that she thought about it, it would be strange if someone as kind-hearted and handsome as Mr Thomas was single. It made sense but she still didn't want to accept it. She really liked Mr Thomas so in her head she was wishing them a long, happy relationship. On the other hand, in her heart she didn't want them to stay together, she felt ashamed to do so but still wished that they'd break up sometime soon.

Sighing Emma turned away from the group of heartbroken girls practically begging Mr Thomas to "Please tell me it isn't so~!" and faced Ren. "Oh my dear, best friend, whom I devote myself to entirely. You totally ditched me on Saturday. What's with that??" Emma exaggerated in mock betrayal.

"Well, you know… This and that." Ren replied as enthusiastically as she always did. Which was in fact, that was as unenthusiastic as possible. "Right, right…" Emma breathed out.

The soft sounds of water dripping onto the wooden floorboards could be heard from Emma's room. As soon as had gotten home she'd taken a shower, after all, the feeling of a cold shower always helped calm her down.

Currently, Emma was sitting on her bed absentmindedly scrolling through instantgram, she only did this because she didn't want to do tasks which required much effort or thought.

Emma had grabbed a towel to dry her hair, however, it wasn't being used and instead sat unhelpfully on her shoulders. It didn't aid in stopping the drops of water from falling on her t-shirt or from dripping on the floor in the least.

After a while of doing practically nothing Emma heard someone calling her, she slowly rose from the bed and trudged down the stairs with little energy. When she reached the bottom of the stairs and entered the hallway her mother, who was crouched down behind the kitchen counter looking in the cupboards, reached her hand over the counter and waved her over.

"Emma, come here." Emma who was watching her busy mother followed her instructions and went over. "Do you need something ma?" She asked drearily. "Yes, I invited someone over. They should be here in," she looked at the clock hanging on the wall, "perhaps an hour."

"Mhm," Emma replied absentmindedly, slowly travelling over to the living room. She reached the sofa and sat on it cross-legged. She turned her phone back on and looked up if any new designs had been posted by her favourite designers.

Even though she wasn't feeling it, she never missed any new designs coming out. Why would she when her dream was to be a fashion designer, she had to steal all the inspiration she could. She looked over the designs and shook her head, no no, this was all wrong.

The hem should've been slanted, and there shouldn't be this many frills. What was this? A child's puffy pink princess dress? She sighed, lately she hadn't liked this designer's work. Not that they were bad, she was just… a girl that didn't appreciate too many frills. She also didn't particularly enjoy wearing pink. Yet all these designs were always pink, meaning she couldn't bring herself to buy any of the outfits.

A thought suddenly popped into Emma's mind, she preferred her designs over this well-known designer's, most definitely not a biased opinion. Her friends had told her that her designs were good and that they'd "totally buy her clothes if she made them".

Maybe she should start a small online store… it'd help with her future projects too. It'd be good practice for her final, she had to design and sew an outfit by hand.

In the middle of her thought process, she suddenly got interrupted by a couple of loud clear bangs. Emma wasn't paying much attention and therefore hadn't realised it was someone knocking on the door. The bangs stopped as quickly as they had started, causing Emma to think perhaps she had imagined them.

Moments later the doorbell rang out loudly in the silence, the sound filled the halls. After a moment the sound of the doorbell ensues once again. "Emma dear, can you get that?" Lou calls from behind the kitchen counter. From where she'd been preparing dinner for a couple of hours now.

"Yes, mum." Emma slowly plodded to the door, she hesitated for a moment before opening it. She wondered who it could possibly be, perhaps Ren? Emma opens the door unexcitedly and is met with a familiar face.

I waffled a whole lot in here, hopefully it’s not too long winded lolol
