Chapter 107 Giving up
“What happened, you stop chatting with me yesterday”
“Oh that, am sorry I fell asleep”
“Oh..ok, are you in the office right now?”
“No am on my way”
“Ok, when you get there call me I have a contract for you”
“Really?, Am almost there.” She starts the car again and drove off.
Getting to the office lucky was there waiting for her.
“So what’s the deal?”
“I have a contract with a white man, and I want to hand it over to you”
“Really? So what is the deal”
“Supply, you finish the contract we share the profit”
“Ok, I will like that, so what are we supplying?”
“Fabrics, I have been supplying to them for three years but I want to shift them to you so you have to send them your sample”
“That’s not a problem” she was so excited, she has been wanting a deal that will help her enter international market, maybe this is a stepping stone.
“So when do we start?”
“Today, tomorrow, when ever you are ready you just come to my office and I will hand you every documents you need to start.”
“Oh…thank you, I own you one” she said so excited.
“Your welcome, so how is it going to be”
“How do you mean?”
“You and me” lucky said walking towards her.
“Yes, I accept you but you must promise me not to call all your village people on me again”
“Hahaha, I thought I’ve apologize for that?”
“Yes, but don’t do it again”
“I promise, it won’t happen again”
They hugged and he kiss her but she didn’t respond.
“Is anything the matter?”
“No.. nothing, why do you ask?”
“You don’t love me? Why don’t you kiss me back?”
“Is nothing, this is my office”
“Ok, can I take you out after work?”
“Sure”
“Alright, let me leave you for now” lucky left her so happy that his plans are working, “I will get you and those guys… I will get back at them.”
Christy could not contain her joy, she rushed into Bridget’s office to inform her about the new development and to ask her to get ready.
“Are you telling me that we are going to supply fabrics to a foreign company?”
“Yes, lucky made it happen”
“Did you say lucky? That guy?”
“Yes, the guy that came here looking for me”
Bridget thought for a second “How can a foreign company ask you to supply fabrics? Are they looking for local fabrics?”
Christy thought that lucky didn’t tell her the type of fabrics they want.
“I will ask him when I get to his office tomorrow”
“Is ok, I will be waiting but please be very careful with that guy, I don’t like him”
“I know you hate him but he is a good person if you get to know him”
“I don’t want to know him and you should stop seeing him”
Christy stopped talking, she didn’t want to tell Bridget she has already said yes to him.
“Ok, I will stop but for now let’s get ready to work hard”
“Am always ready to work hard”.
Paul was so happy that things are getting better with him Christy, he went to see his guy James.
“Am happy for you, I just pray that she comes around fast so you can be totally happy” James said.
“Is going to get better man.. so what about you and Bridget when are we hearing the wedding bells?”
“Soon very soon, we are still on the process, tomorrow we are going for medical checkup and then we go to court”.
“Why the court?, She didn’t trust you or you don’t trust her?” Paul ask wondering what kind of love is that.
“Is not like that, we just want it that way”
“Ok if you so”
“Have you seen Patrick lately”
“Yea, he’s the one who helped me with Christy”
“Really? He’s change a lot, maybe is because of Sharon”
“Maybe, he is trying to atone for his sins hahaha they both laugh.
“Are you guys serious? You talk about me in my back?” Patrick ask while entry James house.
“My friend sit down and stop talking too much, sinner man like you” James said. And all laugh over it.
“Guy you are looking bright today,” Patrick turned to Paul.
“Yea, am glad but am here for James, I need to know my responsibility in his wedding day.”
“You guys are my best men what else”
“Fine, just be fast so I can fix a date for my own wedding” Patrick said.
“Are you serious? You love her that much?” James ask while Paul kept quiet, he didn’t like talking about Sharon and Patrick.
“Yes, Sharon is the best woman for me, I wonder what I do without her in my life”
“Yea, I guess so, just enjoy your life” Paul said at last.
“Let’s hangout tonight because you know very soon we all are going to be tied down” James suggest. “No more hanging out, if not you will be hearing something like this.. Where are you coming from? Who is she?, So you are cheating on me” hahaha they all laugh.
“You are right, so where are we hanging out tonight?” Patrick ask.
“Let’s go to Paul’s restaurant”
“No, let’s hangout in a bar” James said looking at Paul “ What do you think?”
“Fine, let’s go”
Lucky took Christy out to the restaurant because she said she love it there. But Christy didn’t want to go to that restaurant because it belongs to Paul. “What if he sees me?, I don’t want any problems this night.”
“No, let’s go somewhere else”
“Why, I thought you loved it there”
“Yes, I do but I want to go somewhere different, we can go back there later”
“Ok let’s go then” He took her to a bar and they start drinking and chatting.
Paul and friends enter the bar 30min later, sat at the far end but Christy didn’t see them.
After few seconds Patrick saw someone who looks like Christy.
“Guy, is that not Christy? And that guy too”
“What is she doing with him?” James ask.
Paul got up but James held him down.
“Look, let’s not start a fight here ok”
“So what are you saying?” Patrick ask.
“Let’s wait for them to finish then we can go after them”
“I think is a good idea” Patrick agree so Paul sat down but he wasn’t himself, he wants to kill that guy but what about Christy? She will see him as hooligan and getting her back will be very hard. So he ask that they leave the bar.
“Why?” Patrick ask when they are outside.
“Let’s just go, I don’t want to confront them anymore”
“But why?”
“If she loves that guy, then there is no point” Paul said do sad.
“Am sorry man” James said.
“Don’t be, am cool” Paul said and started walking away from them.
Paul went home and cry himself to sleep, he made up his mind to go on without Christy so he decided to visit his parents after a very long time because he was still angry at his mother for separating him and Christy.
“Welcome my son” his mom rushed to hug him. “Why have you decided to treat me like this?”
“Honey allow him to sit down first before you start your complains”
“He’s my son, my only son I have all the right to complain” she continue not allowing Paul to sit down before she ask him why he is still single.
“Mom we have all the time to talk about this so please let me sit down first”
“Ok, come sit here”, she lead him to sit beside her.
“How is my granddaughter” she finally ask.
“She’s fine mom, she’s writing her exams and she sends her greetings”
“I think I will come with you to see her”
“Mom I think you can always see your granddaughter with or without me” Paul said angry because his mother has not come to see his daughter ever since then, only Mr. Brown visit and take care of his granddaughter.
“Am sorry, I know am wrong, is just that I was very angry with you but not anymore”
“Mom, dad, am here to tell you that am ready to get married”
“Really? Oh thank God, I’ve been praying night and day for you to make up your mind and forget that Christy…..
“Mom…mom.. stop” Paul said.
“What? Am just happy for you”
“Leave Christy out of this ok”
“Ok, am sorry, but when are you bringing her home”
“Bringing who home?”
“The girl you want to marry”
“That’s the problem, I’ve not seen any girl yet”
Mr. Brown turned to look at his wife who was so surprised that up till now Paul still don’t have a girlfriend who he can present to them.
“Are you ok?” she ask Paul
“I don’t understand, ok as in how?”
“Are you telling me that you don’t have a girlfriend and you throw away the only girl I brought home for you! Now Patrick who has foresight is getting married to Sharon”
