Christopher knew exactly what she was referring to but he pretended not to know infact he didn't care how she had gotten the job, all that matters to him was that she was here with him, she made him happy after so many years of emptiness

he doesn't really know why, he can't even place a finger on the exact thing that he feels for her, he just wants to have her around, that's all

"he helped you with the job, what do you mean by that?" Chris asked his voice a bit subtle, he wondered if she would tell him the truth

"well, there was a time I was working in the club, more like a night bar then I stopped working because a customer tried to rape me" Jane started to explain but Chris got agigated with the mention of the word rape

"what did you just say?" Chris asked her instantly

"uhhnnn, I said I stopped working at my former place of work" Jane said not knowing what he was referring to

"no you said a customer did what to you?" he said standing up from his seat

"oh that, don't mind the animal of a man, he came to drink and I guess he got drunk and he tried to take advantage of me" Jane explained

"did he touch you, when did this happen, did he hurt you" Chris walked up to where she was sitting and shook her body profusely, bead of sweats were starting to form on his forehead

memory of that night was flushing through his head, that night he was also drunk and then he had raped that girl, ' could she be the one? ' he thought

"calm down, are you okay?" Jane asked him worriedly seeing his reaction towards the news, she wondered if he cares about her so much that he had to react that way

"did the man rape you, tell me when did this happen, which club were you working at that time?" he kept asking her

"no no the man was not able to my friend Gloria saved me, we worked together at the club" Jane said

Chris got even more agigated, he recalled that girl telling him that night that she was waiting for her friend that went to get her something he really can't remember what it is now, he looked at Jane hoping to recognize the girl but he couldn't remember a thing, he didn't even see her face well that day

"what year did this happen, tell me now and don't hide a thing from me" he said almost shouting at her

"I need you to calm down first please, you are sweating all over you are even shaking, sir please calm down" Jane said

Chris didn't even care about her still calling him sir, he just wanted to find out the truth

"just answer me Jane please" he pleaded with her

"the man didn't rape me he was not able to, and I just stopped working at the bar about two months ago, so this just happened two months ago, nothing serious happened, please calm down" Jane explained

"are you sure this happened two months ago?" Chris asked her to be sure

"hmm, of course there's no need to lie, and he wasn't able to touch me, Gloria saved me" Jane answered

"are you sure you are not forgetting something?" Chris asked her again

"of course I'm sure, is anything the problem?" Jane asked him but Chris didn't say anything he just stood up and went to his restroom, he needed to run cold water over his head

he went into the restroom and closed the door, he slumped on the floor the instant he got inside

for a moment there he thought he was going to find out the truth he has been seeking all these years, he couldn't help but shed some tears

he felt really bad as those memories keep flashing in his mind, he took advantage of a small girl

"where are you, please come out and allow me find you please" Chris muttered to himself

even though he just confirmed now that he was not ready to find her even though he really wants to, the fear he experienced just now thinking that Jane was the girl was unfathomable

he didn't know what to do for a moment thinking she was the one

Jane was left dumbfounded, she didn't know what to do or how to react, she had thought for a moment that he cared about her that was why he reacted that way

but that doesn't seem like it, he seems like he was traumatized about something and she was sure it had to do with what Grace said happened to him that night five years ago, she wondered what it could be

she really felt sorry for him, she knew what it was like to be traumatized, she wished she could help him but there was no way to do that because she didn't even know what the problem was

she suddenly had a sour mood, she felt pinched in her heart, she didn't like to see him that way

this was not the first time he had been like this in front of her, sometimes he just talks things she doesn't understand sometimes, sometimes he gets agigated like what just happened

she must get to the bottom of this, she would talk to Grace as soon as she gets home

Jane stood up from her seat, she packed the plates they used in eating and took it the kitchen, she was going back to the office but she bumped into Chris who was also coming out of the restroom

"are you okay?" she asked him worriedly

"I'm perfect" he said and turned to walk into the office but Jane grabbed his hand before he could go in

"Christopher" she called out to him
