Freeing Her

Sitting down at the edge of the floating island, Alta looks down worryingly to see if any of the baby dragons will be coming back to get more seeds. I come over and sit down beside her while dangling my legs of the edge.

"Alta."

"Yes, Alto?"

"Do you know what we are?"

"We're partners right?" Her answer has taken me aback for a bit. Partners? As in like couples? Or something like good friends?

"Umm, we are?"

"We're not?" her face slowly gets crestfallen.

"I-I don't know. Things about you and me is a bit strange. I mean, I created you. Doesn't it make me like your father or......something?"

"Alta doesn't know about that but, Alta only knows that when Alta see Alto for the first time, Alta will be Alto's partner. Forever," she says so with clear eyes.

"If that is so. We are partners," I wish for her to be my partner, so I have to let her be my partner. This feeling of giving my own purpose to someone's existence doesn't feel good. Especially, when that purpose is for my own selfish means.

"Anyway, the question I ask wasn't really meaning to that. What I mean is what we are as being with such powers we have,"

"The power of wishing?"

"Yes. Beings that can create things out of nothing are called gods,"

"Gods?"

"We're gods, Alta. Well, at least I know what I am," I don't know how I came to this power but, I'm sure there's a reason for this. This is essentially being transported to another world isn't it? Usually, the protagonist would be reborn or transported to a new as a hero or something. However, I became a god. Thus, I believe someone sent me here.....to do something. Probably a duty that I need to do as a god.

"I think when I arrive here, I'm probably meant to to do something. Something amazing. Something godlike. I don't know what it is yet," she looks at me a bit confuse.

"I don't know much regarding if you really are a god as well, Alta. I gave you those powers. So, are you really a god just like me?"

"Also, there's another thing I want to tell you," I take a deep breath to tell her this.

"I don't want your existence to only meant just for me. I would like you to find other meanings for yourself," truly, her existence is only to become my companion and then, later I gave her powers like mine. I believe it would be better if her existence is not only to be my companion but, for her to be something more than what I envision her to do. With the powers I gave her, I know I've given her most leverage to conduct her findings.

"I-Is Alto doesn't want Alta anymore?" Tears just drips down her eyes.

"It's not that, Alta. You will always be my companion but, I want you to find more purpose on your life than just that. Find it in your heart, what do you want to do other than being my companion,"

"A-Alta doesn't know what Alta want to do. Alta only knows to be your companion. Please give Alta a reason, Alto!" she pleads me with more tears out her eyes.

"If you still ask of me, then it is no longer your purpose, but it will be mine once again. So, I can't, Alta,"

"Please, Alto! I don't what am I suppose to do," she hold my hand hoping for me to answer, but I know I can't. This power I have over someone. It is vexing for me to know whether the interaction we have is it all just for me. In a sense, it's like restraining someone of their free will. Is it possible I didn't give her free will to begin with?

"I'm sorry. I can't but, I can give another thing,"

"What is it!?" Her excitement only incites me to tear up. I can give her free will but, at a cost. That will also mean that the first purpose I gave her must not exist. Thus, the only way to do this is letting her forget about it in the first place. Which in term, means it is for her to forget about me as well.

"Alright. Alright. I will give it."

"Thank you so much, Alto!" She cups my hands with her's and she rest her forehead on it.

"Alta, close your eyes."

"Okay, Alto. Then, what's next?" I close my eyes as well and concentrate.

"Forgive me, Alta," her body slowly begins to become powerless. I catch her as she falls forward in my arms. I bring her to the underground room of the huge tree and lay her down on the white leaves. I call over the Gardeners and have them sit down around Alta.

"When she wakes up, all of you will be her guardian and she will be the new master, understand?" I close my eyes again and the Gardeners falls in their sitting position. They will also forget about me. Next ones, are the little dragons. Thus, I use my powers to instantly summon those little dragons in front of me with whatever powers I have left.

It took a few moments for a ball of light to appear and drops Rex and Regina in front of me. They look utterly confuse but, I immediately pick them up in my arms and put them beside Alta's bed.

"You two will be her guardian from now on as well," closing my eyes, both dragon falls asleep and curls up around Alta. Slowly, I feel my fatigue rises as my body slowly become smaller.

Now, what's left to do is the huge tree. I know for a fact that this world right now only have trees as natural living beings. Thus, what we need left is just living creatures to make the balance of life in this world. So, with my last ounce of power, I give the tree power to create living creature as well, other than just tree seeds.

All of this, is so that when Alta wakes up, she would have a world to explore and a place to find her purpose of life on her own in this world. I will give all that I can for her. It is by my selfish whims that she exist just for me. Thus, I will take full responsibility on enriching her existence. For now, I will leave her and find my own resting place.

Looking back at her, I know she'll be fine without me.

"You're free now, Alta. We will meet again in the future with me and you finding our own purpose in this world."
